Not taking the time to do a full representative update, but welcome aboard. You can feel free to start representing the Brewers immediately, just make sure you're familiar with procedures. Thanks for your interest!

6-26-12 ( We're a little over half way through the season and you guys are 13 games out of first place and are 15 games out of the wild card race.)

Hey Jerry, How's the wife and kids? I'm contacting you regarding Mark Trumbo. We would like to know if you would be interested in trading him.

I couldn't help but notice that he's been on your bench quite a bit here lately. Now what would it take to pry him from you?

Before I go into my GM talk, do you think the Cubs would give up McNutt in real life if they were offered a good trade?
        Back in GM talk :
As far as your trading block goes, you have Junior Lake, Scott Maine, and Samardzija on it. Looking at your proposal, we would be willing to take either Maholm or Wells, along with Amezaga and McNutt, and give you Starling Marte, Cain, and Kingham. Marte is one of our prized prospects though, so we may want another B or C prospect in return, if that seems fair.
The final deal may look like this:
        Pirates Give:
SP Cain - stats given earlier
SP Kingham - stats given earlier
OF Starling Marte - .194 3 HR 5 RBI 2 SB in AAA. We are very high on him and want to try and keep the majority of the team, including the farms system, together. So this is just a possibility.

        Cubs Give:
SP Trey McNutt - stats given earlier
        SP Paul Maholm OR Randy Wells - Maholm is 1-1 with a 2.79 ERA 17 K's 13 BB's. Wells is 0-0 with a 3.18 ERA 5 K's 2 BB's.
2B Alfredo Amezaga - .162 0 HR 2 RBI in AAA, but do his stats really matter at this point?

Again, we very tentatively offer this trade because we are hesitant to lose Marte, and we MAY be willing to give you Neil Walker if you are interested.

        RE: McNutt trade

The addition of Marte makes this look even better to us. We could use a right handed OF who is close to ready--we have some concern about how much power he will develop, and if he will ever learn to be more patient, but he could certainly fit with our plans. If we were to add him to our organization, it might free up one of our younger outfield prospects to add on to this deal. Here is our counteroffer, and I think this is going to help both organizations:

        Pirates Send:
        --Marte
        --Kingham
        --Cain

        Cubs Send:
        --McNutt
        --Wells
        --Amezaga
        --OF Reggie Golden

If you choose to accept, we have a deal!

        --Chicago Cubs
        ----------------------------------------
I like what you did, sacrificing Marte--who isn't a sure thing, but could be pretty good relatively soon--to get McNutt. That's exactly what I was talking about. And taking Wells and Amezega won't hurt you much but will help the Cubs. Finally, because the Cubs get Marte, they can give up Golden, who is a B pot and is basically Marte 3-4 years ago, maybe even with more upside. You decide if you want to take Amezega, which would require breaking the trade into 2 parts, and may not be worth it, but that seems like a decent bit of baggage to saddle you with, which is essentially what the Cubs would make anybody do in order to take prospects at this point (be glad nobody's insisting you take Dempster or Soriano, who nobody wants at this point! At least Wells can be useful to you for a minute, until your younger pitchers are really ready.)

I am currently on the road right now, so I'll keep this short for now. If you're willing to give up Marte and Neil Walker you might have a deal. We are going to give up Mcnutt and Lake and Wells. Add one of the two B pitchers and I will consider finalizing an offer.
I just included this to make it clear that AT THIS POINT (we may decide otherwise later, just haven't done it yet), authentic and I are responding separately, so if you negotiate with him, it will be kind of like dealing with two parallel universes--I imagine he'll give you a different, quite possibly better (or more realistic) answer--he would be the guy to answer the "Would the Cubs really trade McNutt?" question. He might not be willing to give up Golden, might drive a harder bargain. That's (hopefully) one of the potential good things about this system: he and I are both trying to give you our best answers, but ultimately it's your universe, and your choice. Good luck!

[authentic: not trying to put words in your mouth, just pointing out we're operating separately at this point. I look forward to seeing what you will say about all this.]

Well, first off, I don't see the Cubs trading any pitching prospects. I really like McNutt, so he is untouchable in my opinion. I think he will start 2013 with the Cubs. He is having a pretty solid year and is injury free. The only pitchers the Cubs might deal, are Dempster, Wells, Maholm, Marmol, and a very slim chance of Matt Garza. They won't trade any young studs, that's for sure.

            Subject: Chris Archer

            Greetings from Wrigley,

The Cubs have started to re-evaluate this organization from the ground up and has big plans for the future. As we enter this new year, we are looking to bring in a youth movement at the pitchers spot.

We know we gave Chris to you guys a couple years ago with hopes he would be up by now. It appears you have a lot of guys blocking him in the rotation for a couple years at least. We are hoping to get a trade done without involving any other pitchers and leaving Brett (Jackson) and Anthony (Rizzo) out of it.

We feel like Chris is worth a lot, and should be evaluated as a top prospect. We would be willing to offer two good prospects, or a versatile position player in the Majors right now.

There is no rush for us right now. We have yet to start the season and are just sending out notices of players we are interested in. We are very interested in acquiring Chris, and only Chris. We will let you fire the opening pitch on this one and give us your input.

We would definitely be open to a trade. As it is the trade deadline in mine, and I like to do all the trades that I agree to in this thread on my own also, regardless if it is dealing with someone else's, like it is dealing with yours in this case. Please send us an offer as soon as possible of what you are looking at, and we can negotiate from there.

              Best regards,

Since Pastornicky and Jack Wilson are doing bad how about this?
