Updated OP with a M.O.M. example. Here's an enlarged version of the PS3 and Vita screens:

Re: PS3/Vita cross-controller functionality (ideas?)
Very nice.
Thanks!
I wonder...if they did something like this..would I be able to access the statistics screen on the Vita while the game is going on ...on the PS3?
That would be phenomenal.

Using the Vita screen while the PS3 version is playing is exactly what I was thinking. The only problem would be getting all that info on the Vita's screen and making sure it would be easy to navigate.Florida State Seminoles

Re: PS3/Vita cross-controller functionality (ideas?)
The M.O.M. screen on the Vita, for instance, would change what's in the middle depending on what's selected. I did the aerial field view because "Defensive Positioning" was selected. If "Bullpen" was selected, you'd get a shot of the bullpen or something as well as a list of pitchers you could warm up, etc.
I feel like you just need a good designer, much better than me or what i chose to work with/allot time to, and you should be plenty fine.
Cross-controller expansion between the PS3 and Vita would be a dream come true. Why buy a Wii U when we have one here?Last edited by Blzer; 12-24-2012, 10:01 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: PS3/Vita cross-controller functionality (ideas?)
Blzer your presentation in the OP is impeccable. I feel like a SCEA CEO at a board meeting discussing this stuff!
I haven't had the chance to read every single post yet, but I think this stuff hasn't been mentioned yet.
I think the game could really benefit from using the Vita to oversee elements of the game that are currently not represented efficiently, or at all, on the television screen.
First and foremost, let's be honest here. In 2012, when it comes to baserunning, minuscule blue dots just don't cut it anymore. With the Vita, after you've hit the ball into play, you could take a peek at the Vita screen to see exactly where your baserunners are. How far is the hitter from second base? Close enough to make it? It would also give you more precision - and less of a headache - in situations that require one baserunner (but not all of them) to tag up after a catch, or to easily get one runner to advance while others hold their ground. Just the same, while on defense, the Vita would allow you to keep equal vigilance over baserunners, so that you can adjust your throws accordingly.
While you're on the mound, the Vita would be a phenomenal tool for checking on baserunners. You could easily see how big of a lead the runner is taking, and more importantly, whether the first baseman is in a 5-mile-radius, before you attempt a pickoff.
While batting or pitching, the Vita could show live pitch history, tendencies from previous at-bats, and your swing/pitch analysis thing that currently exists in-game. You could get immediate feedback on defensive alignment changes - a message like "the outfield is playing deep against you," or maybe there could be dots to represent the fielders position. And conversely, you'd be able to quickly align your defense on the mound.
The possibilities really are endless for a feature like this, and it will be interesting to see if SCEA takes advantage of it.Comment

Re: PS3/Vita cross-controller functionality (ideas?)
(Sorry for the double post, but this is a separate idea all together and considering the length of the first one...)
As for Vita sales, I think a large part of it is a lack of utility. Impressive clones of PS3 games isn't enough, and I'm not quite sure why Sony thought it would be. I'm quite confident that if the very type of idea Blzer is suggesting were applied to this game, and to a wide range of games overall - in other words, if the Vita brought something new and unique to the gaming experience - that far more people, including myself, would be interested in purchasing one.Comment

Re: PS3/Vita cross-controller functionality (ideas?)
That's a tough one to answer. I can certainly see why the answer would be no, but on the other hand, the Show is a huge PS3 seller for Sony and something like this might be enough to move some Vita's. Would it move many? I doubt it.. But at this point Sony is probably desperate to try anything that might sell a few units.A screaming comes across the sky...Comment

It's inevitable that the gap between PS4 and Vita becomes wide enough that at some point it won't make sense to put as much effort into the Vita version of the Show. But if we could make use of Vita in the way Blzr's illustrating, it might actually help the platform stay relevant.Comment

Blzer's OP is outstanding. Sony needs to hire bright minds like you, young man. Someone needs to forward the OP to the decision makers at SCEALast edited by blueduke; 12-25-2012, 10:08 AM.Comment
