    Kudos ...
I hope it's viable and they consider it.

First and foremost, let's be honest here. In 2012, when it comes to baserunning, minuscule blue dots just don't cut it anymore. With the Vita, after you've hit the ball into play, you could take a peek at the Vita screen to see exactly where your baserunners are. How far is the hitter from second base? Close enough to make it? It would also give you more precision - and less of a headache - in situations that require one baserunner (but not all of them) to tag up after a catch, or to easily get one runner to advance while others hold their ground. Just the same, while on defense, the Vita would allow you to keep equal vigilance over baserunners, so that you can adjust your throws accordingly.
What kind of visual representation did you have in mind for this? My main reasoning to "keep dots" stemmed from exactly what nomo said about the Vita not being able to keep up with the PS3/PS4 versions of this game. So did you mean actual graphics, or something more along the lines of what I already have in place based on the screenshots provided?

While you're on the mound, the Vita would be a phenomenal tool for checking on baserunners. You could easily see how big of a lead the runner is taking, and more importantly, whether the first baseman is in a 5-mile-radius, before you attempt a pickoff.
I turn off baserunner windows while playing this game for one reason and one reason only: authenticity. On the television screen, you don't see baserunner windows. To be honest, it would be cool if real life actually started using baserunner windows, but until they do I turn them off. However, I would love to have them on a Vita screen. The first shot I provided shows that little "field" like what you see in the pause menu; that is where I planned on placing baserunner windows. It would certainly be nice.

While batting or pitching, the Vita could show live pitch history, tendencies from previous at-bats, and your swing/pitch analysis thing that currently exists in-game. You could get immediate feedback on defensive alignment changes - a message like "the outfield is playing deep against you," or maybe there could be dots to represent the fielders position. And conversely, you'd be able to quickly align your defense on the mound.
This would definitely be cool. As I said before, that first screenshot is just one page of what you could see. Swipe the screen to the left, and you could get an entirely different page, perhaps showing defensive alignments and the like. Maybe touch a button that brings you to your dugout, or your bullpen, etc. and the game will pause.

The possibilities really are endless for a feature like this, and it will be interesting to see if SCEA takes advantage of it.
Like the Move and 3D before it, I wouldn't mind if it was nearly even "enforced" on them from upper Sony brass. I'm not saying SCEA San Diego didn't choose these ideas on their own, but I think a push was made for PlayStation exclusives to implement these features somewhere in their games. I mean if you think about it, there aren't many third-party titles which have both of those things, much less will consider implementing something like cross-controller play or even make a Vita game.

As for Vita sales, I think a large part of it is a lack of utility. Impressive clones of PS3 games isn't enough, and I'm not quite sure why Sony thought it would be. I'm quite confident that if the very type of idea Blzer is suggesting were applied to this game, and to a wide range of games overall - in other words, if the Vita brought something new and unique to the gaming experience - that far more people, including myself, would be interested in purchasing one.
One thing I really like about this is that developers truly don't have to make a full Vita game. In fact, they don't even need to up the price if that turns away customers. Let's say that Madden used this. During a commercial, it would have twenty seconds devoted to the game, and seven seconds saying: "Now use your Vita controller to access more of the game while you play, blah blah blah," and show the Vita as a cross-controller in action.

I think I will have to see how the Wii U does this, because it seems like they are doing the exact same thing. If they are and Madden does things with Wii U, would it be simple to maybe bring this over to its PS3 version? Just a thought.

Yeah, but when watching on TV, you're not responsible for trying to hold the runner on the bag while pitching, or getting a good lead to steal or hit and run while batting.

I know. It's good information for the viewer to have, though. I think that would be sweet to see in a live broadcast and see how the runners lead-off, take off, etc.

I'll ask about the feasibility for future versions.

With the new announcement of PS4's remote play capabilities, it's good to see what the Vita will actually be able to handle via streaming. Because this could help keep the Vita alive (and make The Show look fantastic on it), I can image that future cross-controller functionality could still be a half-decent idea.

Did you get the scoop on their future for an idea like this, tabarnes?

Nothing was ever stated at cd. I do think, though, that being a 1st party developer they will have to utilize any and all features the system has. I am really looking forward to next year and seeing the evolution of this series to ps4.
