I'm still hung on the fact that he said sliders aren't necessary for enjoyment, while in the same post, admitted that GIDP are still not at MLB average.

Of course the game can be enjoyed without sliders. I'm confident it'd be a very great game even without slider changes. But the game can also be enjoyed without franchise mode, without classic pitching, and without the presentation options.

It's silly to not take advantage of the tools and features with which we have been bestowed. Sliders are just as much a part of the game as anything else.

Right, I'm not saying leaving sliders at default produces the best sim game *for your playing style*... for one thing I myself have done quite some slider tweaking in the past...

What I think some people go wrong is that they go start playing the game thinking that sliders MUST be adjusted in order to play solid baseball. I don't think that's true. As nem mentioned, the game balance is very meticulously fine tuned before the game gets released... that doesn't mean everything looks correct because a simulation is never really perfect, but that just indicates the current limitations of the game and not the lack of effort to find the best slider setting with the released product..

I personally consider some global sliders (Wind, Fielder Speed, etc.) to be different from others (Contact, Timing, etc.)... because the former group is obvious and easy to see the effect, where as the latter is kinda subtle and can be difficult to see their effects, leaving many going back and forth with different setting, which IMO is waste of time and can kill enjoyment.

I was referring to changes in the latter slider group.

Just saying because seeing the posts in the slider forum, some slider adjustments people make and their effects actually see have been placebo effects...

I agree with that. Some people are already planning/worrying about their slider changes for '13, which is quite silly imo. Not only are you robbing yourself of balanced gameplay, but you have all those preconceived biases that will only make your slider adventures take twice as long. You should be reacting to gameplay, not anticipating it.

Other than Pitch Speed, I'm not even touching the sliders until like, April. Assuming I have to at all, of course.

This is pretty much my take on it as well. I think fielder vs. baserunner speed is just right this year at default.

Also, I don't think Nomo's statement is that bold, at all.

According to a recent poster in the PYS thread....they didn't renew the license for '13.

Unless 2K picked it up...I guess it won't be in a BB game this year.

"2011 did not have WBC version, this is like the World Cup it only comes once every 4 years. The last version that had WBC was PYS 6 (2009 version) but there are no translations for it. We almost got around to doing it but then said "Meh, let's just wait until 2013."

"It appears Japan had some grievances and were going to boycott the WBC. Everything is ok now and Konami just got the contract to be a sponsor - but probably too late to put in the game. Maybe it will be added as DLC later who knows?"

I was also following the related news and it looks like the whole potential boycott thing did affect the situation. The NPB has been very dissatisfied by the way the profits were distributed among the event participants (in 2009, 66% went to MLB/MLBPA and just 13% for NPB, while the majority of the profit for the event came from broadcasting/advertising money from Japan... baseball still is a big sport over there...).

I apologize if this has been asked already, but the one thing that drives me bananas in The Show is the foul ball that becomes a glove seeking missile. What I mean by this is when you're watching a ball clearly going foul, but then it seems to abruptly hook right towards the awaiting infielder (who typically makes the same "over the railing" animation.

Has that been toned down from what you've seen in MLB '13?

I believe this is due to the game simulating batted ball with backspin... it's not just foul ball that does this.

When I was casually looking at ball trajectories, I didn't get an impression that the new ball physics does this as much as it did in 12. So toned down, yes. It's still there, but the question is how much...

Is there a thread for batting stances, or would this be it? or if there is which one would it be. Wanted to ask about some stances.

PS: I'm a new poster here on osfm, you can expect to see me here a lot. I have been a fan of osfm for a long time just never made and account mostly just read blogs, or got the information from the newest MLB game coming out since 08.
