It really doesn't make sense for us to get David Price. Look at the direction we're headed, using our farm system to build ourselves back up. Why would we trade away one of our main pieces in our rebuilding to get David Price for less then 2 years and take on a way bigger contract as well... Santana's last year on the Mets as well, we're unloading all our big contracts from 05-09 and restarting...
Dickey is a different story. He's friggin 38. Price is one of the best In baseball. If Alderson can get Price for Wheeler or Harvey, he'll do it in a heart beat, and then have an elite and keep a future elite all for one future elite pitcher.

Because David Price is a top 4 pitcher and, like you said, Wheeler hasn't pitched a game yet...?

You're not telling me Wheeler's better than Price, right?

Hahaha no way not now at least. He may have the potential to be but definitely not now...

A 38 yo knuckleballer who had a career ERA over 4 before last year vs a 27 yo who is still under team control for 2 more years is also an unfair comparison.

But I do agree that it is a fairly unlikely scenario as the Mets are in full rebuild mode. But of the few teams that have the pieces to acquire Price, the Mets are one of them.

What would it take for the Blue Jays to acquire Joey Votto from the Cincinnati Reds??? I am willing to give up Jose Bautista if needed.

Just a hypothetical question, if I wanted to blow up the Angels ala the Marlins, where would some good landing places be for Pujols, Weaver, Hamilton, Kendrick, Aybar, and Wilson? Just thinking about what I could possibly get for them.

Hey I love Price but I can understand wanting to keep harvey and wheeler .The Pirates wouldn't trade Cole or Taillon even if they had the money for Price's last two years of arb. That's another thing 2, even with Price under control, he will still probably get 15 mill in 2014 and 20 mill in 2015. Harvey and Wheeler won't even hit arb till at least 2016

I think that's about right, if not ever so slightly below what they could get. Although I don't think you should be trading Hamilton this season.

See, that's a really interesting idea right there. I've always liked prospects, but it be hard for me to let go of some of those guys. Lets see, the Cards would be a fit just because of their farm and someone like an Aybar or Kendrick would fit there.
