Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I'd give up Lannan....lol. I think carpenter could be a good plug in for a few years. Like I said, Liddi was supposed to be that guy but he's out for the season and got hurt while he was cold haha.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Do you have DH turned on for both leagues?
I think that could work, but I don't think the Giants should throw in a lesser reliever.
Santos + Boni for Blanco?
Generally that would be an overpay for Blanco, but if he is one of their top hitters this season, I don't really see them trading him away.. especially when they are probably set up for a playoff race.
In my opinion, they definitely should trade to get some help offensively and bullpen wise, but I would think they would want to keep Blanco in this case.
I guess throwing in a lesser reliever might work, but it would have to be their worst reliever. Or if you threw in Davis, you could get a decent reliever in return and possibly a prospect.
What is the rest of Blanco's stats? average, OBP, ect.
With Pence and Pagan struggling I think that makes Blanco even more valuable to them.
Davis OR Rasmus+Santos+Boni for Blanco+Arias? Arias batting .200 and would serve as a utility guy for me, Giants get 2 offensive players (Davis playing well for me but is in a time share with Rasmus or I could give Rasmus if you think thats better. I dont know the rest of Blanco stats off hand but I could get them for you when I get on the box. Fair? what could I do to edit if not? Plus this is not a for sure deal just something Im thinking of.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Just go by spreadsheet values for Carpenter I'm guessing? He seems like someone who the cardinals would give up for a few pieces. I'm just trying to think of what positions to give them.Comment

If you gave them Rollins you could probably grab Carpenter and a little something extra."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

So he's been really good for me. But at the same time that means I could get a better return for himComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Stats:
Spoiler
Garza: 120.2 IP, 114:26 K/BB, 2.942 DIPS, 1.160 PFR, .328 BIPA, 8.50 K/9.
Kershaw: 122.2 IP, 123:43 K/BB, 3.212 DIPS, 1.353 PFR, .293 BIPA, 9.02 K/9
Greinke: 116.1 IP, 106:33 K/BB, 3.258 DIPS, 1.195 PFR, .292 BIPA, 8.20 K/9
Well, It's somewhat safe to say that Garza's the best of these players for this season only.
So, we have a great-playing rental pitcher who will obviously need to be traded to a contender, whom you have listed as Red Sox, Yankees, Jays, Twins, Indians, Angels, Rangers, Braves, Nationals, Phillies, Reds, Brewers, Cardinals, Diamondbacks, and Dodgers. I'm going to eliminate teams that have an extreme surplus of pitching or don't have the farm system to support an acquisition.
So your trade options are Red Sox, Yankees, Jays, Indians, Rangers, Braves, Nationals, and Dodgers.
Now, let's look at some precedent for great rental pitchers traded. Some of the prospect potentials and trade opinions may be veered a bit by hindsight. If anyone has a better memory than I and objects to my rankings/trade opinions, please do speak up because you're probably right, lol.
Spoiler
Zack Greinke, 2012: Was acquired for Juan Segura (Low A), Johnny Hellweg (Low B), and Ariel Pena (Mid C). Was pitching to a 2.53 FIP, 4:36 K/BB. Generally viewed as an even trade.
C.C. Sabatha, 2008: Was acquired for Matt LaPorta (High B), Michael Brantley (High B), Zack Jackson (Mid B), and Rob Bryson (mid C). Pitching to the tune of a 3.41 xFIP. Was generally viewed as an even trade IIRC.
David Cone, 1992: Yes, as a Blue Jays fan, I kinda had to get this one in, lol. Was acquired for Jeff Kent (mid A) and Ryan Thompson (mid C). Pitching to a 2.79 FIP. Was generally viewed as a bit of an overpay but understandable given the circumstances.
Cliff Lee, 2009: Was acquired for Carlos Carrasco (Low A), Jason Donald (High B), Lou Marson (Low B), and Jason Knapp (High C). Pitching to a 3.89 xFIP. Was generally viewed as a slight overpay.
Cliff Lee, 2010: Was acquired for J. C. Ramírez (Low B), Phillippe Aumont (High B) and Tyson Gillies (High B). Had pitched to a 3.64 xFIP. Viewed as underpay. *This trade was completed in the offseason and not at midseason, but was still a rental.
Cliff Lee, 2010 v2: Was acquired for Justin Smoak (Mid A), Blake Beavan (Mid B), Josh Lueke (Lowmid B), and Matt Lawson. (High C). Was pitching 3.02 xFIP. Generally viewed as even if not an overpay.
Okay, jeebus, that took a while and a lot of work lol. So, generally, for performing pitchers you're going to get at least a high B, mid B, and high C. However, it's fairly reasonable to state that Garza is performing better Sabathia and Cliff Lee. Garza's track record isn't quite as good as Sabathia's was at the time but C.C. had been pitching in a HR suppressing park and Lee had had that one horrawful year. So the remaining eligible trades are (Low A, low B, mid C) and (mid A, mid C).
The trades are about equal so it's really a matter of preference- do you want a mid A, or do you want a low A but an extra low B? Since you're you and I'm not lol, I'll put together trades involving both possibilities. (In some cases, the package is made to be equal to the value, but doesn't follow it exactly)
Trade options for the Low A, low B, mid C package:
Spoiler
Red Sox: Allen Webster, Bryce Brentz, Brandon Workman/Drake Britton.
Yankees: Gary Sanchez, Angelo Gumbs, Mark Montgomery.
Jays: Roberto Osuna, A.J. Jimenez, Kevin Pillar.
Indians: Dorssys Paulino, Tyler Naquin, Dillon Howard.
Rangers: Leonys Martin, Jorge Alfaro/Joey Gallo, Leury Garcia.
Braves: Julio Teheran, Sean Gilmartin, Bryan De La Rosa.
Nationals: Lucas Giolito, Sandy Leon, Esterlin Martinez
Dodgers: Yaisel Puig, Chris Reed, Jesmuel Valentin.
Trade options for Mid A, Mid C package:
Spoiler
Red Sox: Matt Barnes, Peter Hissey
Yankees: Gary Sanchez, Corey Black
Jays: Anthony Gose, Tyler Gonzales.
Indians: Trevor Bauer, Kyle Bellows.
Rangers: Mike Olt, Nicholas Tepesch.
Braves: Julio Teheran, Lucas Sims, Alex Wood.
Nationals: Lucas Giolito, Matt Skole.
Dodgers: Zach Lee, Corey Seager.
So there you have it. If you'll notice, I did go back on what I said about Lee and Seager due to my not realizing how good Garza's been. I'll specify that the Washington ones may not be the most realistic, same with the second Indians one. I don't like the first Indians one for you and I don't like either Yankees one. The Red Sox ones aren't the greatest, either. And I don't think the Dodgers deal Puig. If I were you, I'd go for maybe one of the Rangers packages, the first Blue Jays package, maybe a Braves one, but if I were you, I think I'd go for the LAD one, but that's just me.
