Yes, that would actually be his best IF position. He's not a great fit at SS aside from his range. I could see LF/CF/2B for him.

I'd be a little less peeved if you hadn't noted saves and ERA. It'd also be nice if you looked at plate discipline and discerned that he's slowly getting more hittable.

But I'm not cirticizing Papelbon's ability. I'm criticizing that the fact that he averages 60-70 innings will get him at MOST 2 WAR, which is what a league average player will accumulate. That player will most likely make about 5-10MM. Papelbon makes 15M. He's also aging and he hasn't fallen apart but the chance that he will is increasing.

Age is not my main point. Jeebus. HE'S A RELIEVER. Lol 60-70 innings does not make the same impact a slightly above league average player will make.

You were saying smart stuff until you said Olt wouldn't be too much to ask, lol.

Papelbon for Perez is the highest I would go.

Eh, I don't think because he's 24 and still in the minors means much. Sure he could be in the bigs if needed, but with Moreland and Berkman there, there is no need to rush him up. Might as well keep developing him when you have 2 pretty good pieces above him. It will probably help him out in the long run anyways.

By the way, here are Olt stats so far at AAA Round Rock this year:

          81 PA .139/.235/.236, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 9 BB, 32 K (40% K-rate), 4 E, .913 FLDG %

It's a small sample, but it would appear that Olt is not quite ready for the bigs. I'd seriously question him being a low A with putting up these stats at 24.

Papelbon was my favorite player. I still love him, but I'm not going to put a bias on him. Also, age discrimination in baseball ridiculous? Age is a big factor in baseball, players decline with age. Age is important and is needs to be discriminated upon in order to ensure preformance. The Phillies would have to give alot to sweeten the pot.

Profar could end up going somewhere else and having a better career than Andrus. It wouldn't make any sense for the Rangers to bring back Berkman who would be 38 by the time Opening season comes around. Olt is 24 not 34 he can still learn a lot by next season.
The Rangers would only give Profar for Felix or Stanton.

How 'bout you stop the narrative that he can't start at 3B? He's kinda being blocked by one of the best 3B in the league, Adrian Beltre, so stop making **** up about how he can't play 3B lol. And playing him at 1B and losing that value isn't as effective as playing Moreland and Berkamn, who have been absolutely stellar in their own rights, rather than getting him every day ABs and reps at 3rd while waiting for an injury/trade.

It's 81 PA on a .231 BABIP, jesus. And did Cameron mention something about eye problems?

I don't think you hate Olt - you traded for him after all - I just think you're taking the contrarian view unnecessarily and you're force feeding narratives down our throats.

+1, but not even ABs. 81 PA. What an adequate sample!

If he's having eye issues and walking at an 11.1% rate, that's incredible. Heck, the 39% k-rate doesn't bug me. Mike Olt + blurry vision - Eric Sogard goggles >>>> Colby Rasmus, hahah.

It's not my narrative, bro. If you'd read scouting reports on him before making your opinion you'd see that. Several scouts question his future at 3B. Pretty simple narrative. He may be able to play there. He may not. I don't recall saying his defense was atrocious or anything.

I'm just saying, if Olt was going to be a major force, he'd be one by now. Papelbon was a key part of the Sox bullpen already at 24.

Don't you think the Rangers would have him on the DL if he was hurt? I mean seriously, why would they have one of their better prospects be grinding out AAA at bats with a bum set of eyes? That makes zero sense.

As for the small sample, we'll see what happens as it grows. But if he's as good as everyone says he is, he probably shouldn't even play a month or two this poorly.
                              Responses in bold, guys.

There will probably be plenty more trades i come in here with throughout the night thanks to the trade deadline coming up...i just hope they don't all end up like this . I will of course just bring the ones i'm not sure of like the Olt/Pap ones in and not the unneeded ones.
