You guys are overvaluing Olt by quite a bit (and I actually like him too).

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I still want Papelbon to go to the Rangers and with Soria/Feliz/Nathan all out on their team, i think Papelbon is the easiest target even with his 10 mil contract which they can easily afford in my franchise.
What are the pieces that the Rangers would have to give to make Pap a Ranger?
Also it is the middle of July so expect me to be in here with trades for my 30-team chiseCome hang with me on YouTube! I stream/make videos on a variety of games from sports, to action, to adventure!

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Well Berkman is gone after this season. You need to consider that so whether you have Olt playing 1st or Moreland and the other would be DHing it doesn't really matter but definitely next year he'll have a spot. Papelbon is wayyyyyyy overrated.Comment

Olt not enough bat to be a legit 1B/DH. Rangers can do better in FA. Heck what does it say that Berkman/Moreland is playing ahead of Olt there right now?Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

No, we're just not saying a 33 year old reliever who's getting paid an exorbitant amount of money is worth all that much."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

I think the Phillies would have to give a prospect or 2 with Paps for Olt since Texas is taking on the contractComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Interested with a trade the CPU has just proposed in my 30-team controlled franchise. It is the All-Star Break and the Rangers have offered the Phillies Mike Olt for Jonathan Papelbon. Phillies are out and Rangers are in first by 10 games, but do need another RP because of injuries.
Now i don't think it is a fair one for one swap but if it is then say so or what do the Rangers need to add?
Mike Olt 76 OVR. .310 AVG/21 HR/73 RBI in AAA
Jonathan Papelbon 97 OVR/ 10 mil per for this and the next two years/ 1-0/ 0.58 ERA/ 26 SVCome hang with me on YouTube! I stream/make videos on a variety of games from sports, to action, to adventure!

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
... But I thought he had a **** glove! -_-
Never said that. I merely relayed scouting reports I'd read. Jury's out on whether he can stick at 3B or if he's better suited for RF or 1B. Problem is, scouting reports also question whether he has enough bat to be a 1B regular.

Pap is still a good pitcher. I question any analysis coming from a Red Sox fan about him because he left them in FA, so maybe a bit jaded (not referring to you obviously).
That said, this guy put up nearly a 12 K/9 last year, with 2.3 BB/9, 38 saves (at a 90% clip), 2.44 ERA, 2.79 xFIP.
I've heard of age discrimination but this is ridiculous. Let's wait until he actually declines before calling him washed up.
For a team like Texas, that is contending, and has a rash of pen injuried like are in his 'chise, the Rangers absolutely would consider trading for Papelbon. And Olt would not be too much to ask. Perhaps the Phillies could sweeten it a bit though.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Yes he is and why would they do that? Olt is said to have above average defense at the hot corner with plus plus power and 1st base is a lot easier than playing 3rd. Moreland and Berkman both have veteran experience over Olt and are both solid players (more towards Berkman i'm not high on Moreland). It's the same thing with Andrus and Profar. Profar could end up going somewhere else and having a better career than Andrus. It wouldn't make any sense for the Rangers to bring back Berkman who would be 38 by the time Opening season comes around. Olt is 24 not 34 he can still learn a lot by next season.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Just saying most wunderkind prospects with "plus plus" power and "great" defense would probably be starting at 1B by 24 years old on a team rolling with Berkman/Moreland.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

I know this is misplaced in the thread, but does anyone think my newly acquired Dee Gordon would be capable of playing 2nd base?Comment
