Here are a few deals I have formulated out of the gate. Let me know what you think:

    Houston gets: CF Gerardo Parra
Arizona gets: 3B Rio Ruiz (56/B), RF Domingo Santana (64/B), C Max Stassi (62/C)

Houston gets: OF/1B Tyler Colvin, RP Edgmer Escalona, IF DJ LeMahieu, LHP Christian Friedrich
    Colorado gets: 1B J. Singleton (62/B), SP N. Tropeano (64/B), RP W. Wright (78/C)

    Houston gets: SS/2B Dee Gordon
Los Angeles gets: SP Brad Peacock (75/B), SS Jonathan Villar (63/B)

Also, I want to pick up a power hitting catcher to build around (can't stand Castro, never hit well with him), and I'm not a fan of Dominguez, so I would like to find a long-term solution at third base. I know WTNY traded for Olt in his 'chise, and I'm open to that idea. But, if there are some other 3B prospects that are close to MLB ready that could be had, I'd be interested.

    Thanks for your input guys!
Glad you liked my Parra and Gordon moves.

    3B prospects nearly ready:

Nolan Arenado (Rockies) -- pricey, must give back 3B

Josh Vitters (Cubs) -- relatively cheap option

Manny Machado (O's) -- already ready already, probably untouchable

Jedd Gyorko (Pads) -- especially if Headley stays

You could get Trevor Cahill for him.

The only way the Colorado/Houston trade goes down is if the Rockies are totally out of the playoff race. The reason I don't like it, is because the Rockies aren't in a re-build stage right now. The Rockies would be trading 4 MLB ready/close to ready players for 3 prospects who will take at least a year or 2 to be ready.

But if you replaced LeMahieu and Escalona with 2 other guys, it would make it much more plausible.

        Or

Tyler Colvin + Friedrich for Singleton?

I wouldn't bother with Arenado or Machado at 3B. I don't see those 2 guys going anywhere.

You're moving non-core pieces for Jonathan freaking Singleton... how the hell can you not like that..? Singleton is just about ready, can take over for Helton, and it's not like you guys are giving up anyone remotely close to his talent level.

I actually kept looking at the deal thinking that I'm letting the Rox off easy. I didn't want to get greedy, but I think I could add another piece.

I love the Rockies, I really do, but let's be honest here. They're getting a Top 50 prospect at 1B, a position of dire need for COL. Plus, they'd be teaming Singleton with Arenado at the corners. That, in addition to Tulo, CarGo, Rosario, and Fowler in the lineup. Yikes.

All they're giving up is a strikeout prone outfielder who has been stashed away in AAA IRL, a hard-throwing middle reliever who has had a limited amount of success at the big league level, a middle infielder who has yet to prove that he can be a long-term everyday starter, and an injury-prone, talented lefty who continues to get bumped down the depth chart.

Oh, and in addition to Singleton, they're getting a B-pot starter who can work his way up the minors, and a decent lefty for the back end of their 'pen.

Wow...I just talked myself out of this trade.

Maybe not "out of it," but I'm certainly going to need to sweeten it up on Colorado's end.

I did like those trades! I can't stand the OF in Houston, and I agree that Parra is perfect fit. Gordon just seems like he belongs there too.

Vitters caught my eye when I was looking through some rosters. I do like the idea of adding Olt (but, I must admit that I'm a little gun-shy about mentioning that name in these parts...).

I was really just saying there are more realistic options to trade for him. Not that it didn't make sense for the Rockies or wasn't fair.

What if I took out Marmol and one of the OFs and add in a better reliever? Like Russel? Maybe two relievers, so now they improve their bullpen and get a guy who could start in RF or LF--will be starting in one of those positions.

Houston gets: OF/1B Tyler Colvin, RP Edgmer Escalona, IF DJ LeMahieu, LHP Christian Friedrich
                          Colorado gets: 1B J. Singleton (62/B), SP N. Tropeano (64/B), RP W. Wright (78/C)

                          Houston gets: SS/2B Dee Gordon
Los Angeles gets: SP Brad Peacock (75/B), SS Jonathan Villar (63/B)

The ARZ/HOU trade is fair - just seems like a lot to give up for Parra - whom I do like a lot. Dom Santana is gonna be a stud, and he should be ready late 2014/early 2015 to man RF for many years. Also like Stassi, but Carlos Perez could make him expendable if the trade is worthy. Ruiz is said to be the next 'Eric Chavez'. HOU is somewhat thin at 3B depth in my opinion, and he has loads of potential.

The COL/HOU seems a little off to me. Singleton is the top rated 1B in the minors, and as a HOU franchise man myself - there is no way I would trade him as the HOU front office said he likely will be moved up to AAA late this year, and should wind up in Houston sometime in 2014. Trading Singleton now leaves you with no 1B option for 2014 or anytime after. Trop also has decent potential. Decent starter - might end up in the pen', however.

The LA/HOU trade is worthy. Peacock is struggling, and at this point might have a decent career as long relief. I like Villar, but to obtain Gordon he would have to be included (would prefer to unload Jio Mier over him, but they would probably want Villar). Gordon seems like a great candidate to go somewhere like Houston and put it all together. If he busts, then Nolan Fontana and Mier (or Villar, and of course Correa - later on) are all waiting in the wings.

About to start a Rangers franchise and have decided that in my first year, I am either going to trade Kinsler and bring up Profar, or trade Profar and prospects to get either an outfielder or pitcher. What can I get in a trade for Kinsler and Profar? I want to be as realistic as possible

Since the consensus seems to be that Singleton is near MLB ready, what about sending Brett Wallace to Colorado?

Friedrich, Colvin, and LeMahieu are the main pieces I'm looking to acquire. Escalona was just a throw-in, because he's not worth much in-game, and I really like pitching with him.

According to the spreadsheet, Colvin is a Low C, LeMahieu is a Mid C, and Friedrich is not on the list, but I would say maybe a Low B.

Wallace + Tropeano is 2 Mid B's, so I could throw in, what, a Low C to make it fair?

I'm thinking I could run with Carter/Pena at 1B until Singleton is ready. That way I'm not shipping off one of my top prospects, and the Rockies get a decent backup/replacement for Helton. Thoughts?
