Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Hello, I am seeking some advice on the realism of a situation.
I am having a truly difficult time selecting a team to run in franchise. I love the blue jays but very much dislike the team on paper in this game.
To that end, I decided to go back in time a little and edited the OSFM roster to undue all of the trades they made this off season.
That is my starting position.
I have created 1 prospect at third base (essentially creating the draft from 2012).
I would like to move Jose Bautista and or encarnacion.
Given that arencebia and D'Arnuad are essentially the same guy on paper, one of them needs to go as well. I am undecided as to which, but I believe J.P. has slightly more value since he is established. (Thoughts on that?)
I am looking to regroup the pitching staff, just like they really did, but rather than with veterans, go with young arms that will pay off in two or three years and a solid number 2 now that can eat up innings (like buerle) but also win a few (unlike buerle).
I want this team to break even or close to it now but win three years from now, when my prospect hits stride.
I am moving Lawrie to second now.
Is it realistic to believe a team could trade away its face (Bautista) now when he has some value to rebuild since it has been mostly a loosing team (no playoffs) for twenty years?
Any thoughts on trades along with realism are appreciated, even if it is to say I am way off.
Sorry for writing a novel for my first post.Comment

Don't see why the Pirates would trade a decent starter for a reliever with literally negative value and a 4th OF

I'm looking to unload Kyle Lohse
Would the Rockies like him? They're 3.5 games out of the west and 5.5 out of the 2nd WC....but they've been very hot recently they were close to 10 games out about 25 days ago

Fair or realistic? Brewers JUST signed Lohse so it's not realistic...Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

And that's not even factoring in the draft compensation they have to give up for just signing him.
Are there any examples of a team signing a pitcher to a 3+ year deal and trading him the same year? There are probably a couple of examples but I can't think of any off the top of my head.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I'm not sure who a lot of people are, maybe you're tuned in more to the Brewers, but teams don't usually take the risk of signing someone to a multi-year contract (3 years $30M, right?) that they don't really want. It's also really risky to make a commitment like that to a pitcher merely to flip him when he could very well get hurt first.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Alright gentlemen...
In addition to my Rockies 'chise, I'm thinking of starting up a "rebuilding" franchise as well. I'm really intrigued by the Astros, but I want to approach it from the story line of a young, brash GM coming in and blowing up what he deems to be a "glorified minor league team."
Here are a few deals I have formulated out of the gate. Let me know what you think:
Houston gets: CF Gerardo Parra
Arizona gets: 3B Rio Ruiz (56/B), RF Domingo Santana (64/B), C Max Stassi (62/C)
Houston gets: OF/1B Tyler Colvin, RP Edgmer Escalona, IF DJ LeMahieu, LHP Christian Friedrich
Colorado gets: 1B J. Singleton (62/B), SP N. Tropeano (64/B), RP W. Wright (78/C)
Houston gets: SS/2B Dee Gordon
Los Angeles gets: SP Brad Peacock (75/B), SS Jonathan Villar (63/B)
Also, I want to pick up a power hitting catcher to build around (can't stand Castro, never hit well with him), and I'm not a fan of Dominguez, so I would like to find a long-term solution at third base. I know WTNY traded for Olt in his 'chise, and I'm open to that idea. But, if there are some other 3B prospects that are close to MLB ready that could be had, I'd be interested.
Thanks for your input guys!MLB 13 The Show Dynasty -- Mile High Magic Returns: A Colorado Rockies Dynasty Is BornComment
