    I'm not sure what those teams would part with. And no one really specifically interest me.

      Some names would sorta help..

      I'm kinda flying blind here but Kelvin Herrera, Tim Collins, Shawn Kelly, Charlie Furbush, Brandon Lyon

          I like those names except for Herrera. I know he's struggling this year IRL but I think the Royals would hold onto him.

          I wonder if the OP is batting DeJesus full time or platooning him. I know DeJesus has a pretty sizable split IRL and in the game

            Like I said, I'm flying blind lol. They did demote him though (which was so so so ********, he had like a 3.29 xFIP at the time) I could see them giving him up.

              He's full time. Not driving in alot of runs because well it's the cubs. He's having a great year though.

                Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

                I finally pulled the trigger on the Eithier trade and made another one along with it.

                So here's how it broke down:

                Andre Eithier and Nick Punto to NYY for:

                * Boone Logan, RP
                * David Robertson, RP
                * Brett Gardner, OF

                I feel like I got surprising value for Eithier, but he made the All Star game with monster numbers, and the Yankees' pen is really deep at the middle reliever spot. Comparatively, my middle relievers are poop.

                I also decided to move a couple of starters for a position player since I have 7 players at the MLB level who are starter types. I'd been using Harang and Lilly as spot-starters/long relievers, and they both have performed admirably in that role. Both are sub 3.5 ERA and both have 4 wins or more.

                So I shipped Aaron Harang and Ted Lily to STL for:

                * Colton Wong, Prospect, 2B
                *Xavier Scruggs, Prospect, 1B

                Wong is listed as their #3 prospect, but Scruggs isn't on the radar. He's raw with huge power potential but very sketch contact ratings. I got a definite long-term upgrade at 2B and got a prospect I can afford to watch develop in the minors in Scruggs.

                It pained me to change the roster, since my NFL fan days have conditioned me to more roster permanence than baseball, but Puig is the future no doubt, is a more complete player, and is lots cheaper.

                I added lots of youth, but I feel like I made out too good. How far above value do you think this worked out to be?

                  I don't see too much of an issue with the Yankees trade but I feel like you got a bit too much in the STL trade.

                    He got quote a bit too much in both trades to be considered remotely fair imo.

                      Yeah, I can't figure it out. I don't know the business side of things very well, other than that names fly around all the time in baseball, but I'm not sure how the game evaluates talent and why I was allowed to trade for these guys.

                      The CPU did put up several limits, like keeping its top prospects off the boards, and like several teams not even wanting to discuss a trade.

                      I felt like the Yankees way overvalued Eithier, but that could be because of his stats. I have NO idea why they don't want Garnder around.

                      STL was hell bent on getting pitchers and they were willing to give up lots to do so, despite having a good rotation. Harang is decent and was playing well, but I don't know why they'd want Lily.

                      Their 2B was a huge sacrifice. Scruggs not so much given his low contact numbers.

                      So where/how do you draw the line when negotiating what a team will do in-game, how the players under consideration are playing, and comparing to real life?

                      I'm all for constructive criticism; I just want to know the principles behind it so I can make better-informed decisions in the future.

                        You aren't using 30 team control are you? That's the issue here...it's almost impossible to use this thread to its full potential without using 30 team control. The CPU trade logic in the show is god awful, and that's putting it nicely

                          OK, that's helpful.

                          No, I'm not using 30 team control, though I've heard about the feature a little bit.

                          Does that require you to micromanage the affairs of all 30 teams? I think doing so would be more than I can handle, but if there's a way to create a better trading logic without having to do absolutely everything, then I could see how that would be good.

                          Any info on that would be great!

                            If you create a seperate profile for your CPU teams and set all the franchise options you want to auto, you can continue your franchise without having to micromanage the CPU teams. This is what I'm doing with my framchise this year. I have every option set on auto except for trades and free agents to eliminate the questionable CPU logic.

                              Chise with the mets. Looking to trade for an outfield bat. Impact if I can get it but I would settle for a guy who can hit around 280 with 20-25 dingers OR a legit lead off guy. I'm willing to give up wilmer Flores and Noah syndergard. Any suggestions?
