Back to square one I guess...damn ! I really liked to idea of Bruce, but I would have to trade at least two of Masterson/Myers/Jimenez elsewhere before to make it work under the cap. That would kill my rotation, and that's a bit too many changes (3 trades total, since they're aren't part of the Bruce deal).
Would it be realistic for the White Sox to trade Dayan Viciedo?
Also the Jason Castro just got injured and is out for 2-3 months. The Red Sox put Salty on the block. they aquired Mauer last year and they have 2 catchers below Salty that could be MLB ready. I will offer Rhiner Cruz and Kyle Blanks or Dallas keuchal. I will only trade Blanks if the Viciedo trade goes through.
I also don't think Cruz + Blanks/Keuchel has anywhere close to enough value. Aren't they all low C's or D's? Though Viciedo's available, the deal would have to include a significant piece like Jason Castro, Matt Dominguez, Chris Carter, Jordan Lyles, or a high C/low B spect in some form or fashion.
A fringe bullpen arm (Cruz), and fringe SP/long reliever (Keuchel), and a 4th/5th OF (Blanks) would not get it done.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Don't worry, that doesn't have any bearing on real life at all, so it doesn't bust any bubbles here. Barney cannot play SS on a consistent basis at the MLB level. If you can get him to play there in your 'chise as an injury sub, then great.
I'm a little late to the party, but any trade not originating from the Reds with Jay Bruce in it is 100% unrealistic if that matters to you.
Viciedo can be had, in my opinion, but didn't you just get Blanks a few pages back? Would be unrealistic to flip him like that. I'd use another player.

I also assume that if Blanks (high C) has been terrible for you, his stats are probably bad and the Sox wouldn't be rushing to deal for him. Blanks as a high C is quite generous and I would value him myself more as a low-mid C depending on stats. Sure he's 6'6" with tons of power, but he's really done nothing in MLB in his career to date.
If Viciedo's (low B) stats over the past 2 seasons are respectable in the slightest, this is a pretty bad deal the Sox would be getting.
That means it's unrealistic, and perhaps worse, unfair. Sometimes, it helps to try to look at the deal from the other team's perspective too. How do you think this would help the White Sox? Getting quantity over quality is usually something teams do not like to do, unless there are wild card prospects that have enough upside for teams to take a risk on 1 making it out of 3-4 in a deal.
EDIT: Among your many trades on the board right now, it appears that the Cruz/Keuchel package was intended for Jarrod Saltalamacchia which I just saw. The same argument applies there. Salty is about the same value as Viciedo depending on stats. So, I'd suggest beefing that trade up to make it fair.Last edited by WaitTilNextYear; 07-15-2013, 03:28 PM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

According to the spreadsheet, Keuchel and Cruz are both low C's so they basically carry no value.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
The trade happened last year so its not in the transaction log. I looked at the Twins roster and I see Xander Bogarts and David Ross. There may be another minor leaguer that was traded in the deal but I don't know the BoSox farm system well so I couldn't tell.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
One could argue that the Snakes are worried about his arm and that they sold him for 80 cents on the dollar. Given how they have plenty of pitching depth I see nothing wrong with that.
How about if Santana makes a speedy recovery and you send him back to the Twins (you mentioned they were somewhat contending). Would be a salary dump for you on a player you're most likely not gonna retain after the season. Something small and simple like Brian Duensing in return (my favorite swingman to use in the whole game as I always pitch well with him).
Joe Panik and Heath Hembree from the Giants
Sean Nolin and Deck McGuire (low B?) from the Jays
Adys Portillo, Brad Brach/Miles Mikolas and Will Venable from the Padres
Jesse Biddle, Tyson Gillies and Freddy Galvis from the Phillies (don't recommend trading within the Division)
Trevor May, Ryan Pressly and Oswaldo Arcia from the Twins
I'd personally try get the Giants or Padres to bite. Panik would become your starting SS in a year or two while Hembree could close or work in setup for Parnell within a year. Getting Portillo from the Padres would net you that valuable SP depth in the minors. Brach/Mikolas could work in setup or close in AAA for now or be an everyday MRP in the majors. Venable would instantly become your best leadoff option with his wheels
Wish I could have gotten Venable but since the Padres were contending I had to pass. Just got to find a left-handed hitting OF and my Mets are all set! Thanks for the help!Last edited by jbrsanders13; 07-15-2013, 03:54 PM.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I guess the Peacock + Blanks for Viciedo deal is not the one I have the issue with then. It's more the Cruz + Keuchel for Salty, because that basically gives the Red Sox nothing in return. I'd replace Cruz with one of those players I mentioned above.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Playing 12 The Show as the Mets and was just offered this trade:
Mets Get: Archie Bradley
Indians Get: Martin Prado
Bradley is 20 years old with an A Potential. 4-8 with a 3.94 ERA in AAA
Prado is in the last year of his deal and just 29 years old. He's not hitting that well this year. 203 BA in 295 AB with 3 HR and 23 RBI.
I don't think this trade is fair for the Indians but I wanted to bring it up to you guys and get your thoughts.
ThanksLast edited by KnickNation17; 07-15-2013, 04:16 PM.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Yeah I didnt think so. I was looking for another starting pitcher I could get from them and I saw this kid Jimmy Nelson. 7-7 with a 4.64 ERA AAA mid to High B. Would Prado be enough or would I have to add more?Comment
