Not really a big fan of Jackson, I feel like I'm getting rid of a strike out guy that's not living up to his potential for the same thing in Jackson. How about

    Lake + Viscaino for Middlebrooks?

Viscaino currently 2.65 ERA 11 SVs in AA
    Lake currently .275/.344/.423 in AAA

    Middlebrooks .270/.321/.395 7HR 34RBI

It's not all that realistic to get rid of Viscaino, I don't think, although I need some backing up on that. It's fair though.

I'd love Vizcaino if some other people thought that would be realistic. Another guy I can think of would be Arismendy Alcantara .280/.333/.379 in AAA B potential

If Darwin Barney is hitting over has on OBP over .300, I think that's a fair deal.

Barney is batting .275 with a .325 OBP

            were you saying
Barney + Lake for Middlebrooks? or just Barney?

No, I meant Lake + Alcalantra lol.

I personally don't see the Cubbies giving up Vizcaino yet, because they havn't really had a chance to see what he can do, since he was hurt to start 2013.

However I have to ask, being how you are in 2013, do you plan on doing the real life trades? Because if so then Garza going to Texas and the Cubs getting Olt would mean that they wouldn't really want Middlebrooks.

If you are not going to duplicate the real life deals, then as a Cubs fan I would be happy to get Middlebrooks and being how Vizcaino hasn't done anything yet, wouldn't really care if he was dealt.

However again if you were going to do the real life deals with them getting Strop, Arrieta, H. Rodriguez, E. Sanchez, then I would say dealing Vizcaino would make more sense as well.

As far as Alcantara goes, I could see him being dealt, because with Middlebrooks at 3B and Castro at SS, Baez obviously would move to 2B if Barney wasn't hitting thus making Alcantara expendable.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Okay I am at the deadline in 2014. Looking at my roster 1 last time before simming my July 31st game. (I am still playing 1 simming 2)

I just lost Grady Sizemore my starting LF. I promoted Stefen Romero to take his spot, and I am currently platooning J. Gomes and now recently acquired Trevor Ploufee in RF.

I am looking to add a inexpensive OF with a LHP or a switch hitter to be my #5 OF and to help breakup all the RHB in the corner OF spots. (Romero/Gomes/Ploufee)

I do have Tyler Collins (69B) and James Jones(68B) currently in AAA that both bat LH, but that would mean another starting OF off my Tacoma roster leaving my lineup there really thin.

Another thought is doing a deal with the Twins for Aaaron Hicks (83B) He is hitting .253 with 11 HR, 55 RBI and 18 SB's and is currently in LF because the Twins have had Buxton in CF all season and are platooning O. Arcia and M. Sierra in RF.

Another option would be dealing for Arcia but he is hitting just .236 with 7 R and 28 RBI.

Spreadsheet says low B for Arcia and Low B High C for Hicks.

I was thinking of doing either B. Maurer (84B) and my AA starting 3B Joe De Carlo for Hicks or my AAA starting catcher J. Hicks (76B) for Arcia.

De Carlo was the M's #15 Best prospect in 2012. He was originally drafted as a SS in the 2nd round. He is hitting .262 with 5 HR and 31 RBI.

Maurer has gone 5-7 with a 4.16 ERA in MLB games pitched between last year and this year and is currently 6-8 in AAA.

Hicks just came off the DL so he doesn't really have any stats yet, but last year hit around .280 with 10 or so HR's in AA.

If the Twins deal Hicks they could either start both Arcia and Sierra and would still have Mastroianni to be their #4 OF, or they have C. Parmelee currently in a DH role and could move him to LF.

Speaking of Parmlee I just realized he too is LH, so he could be another option, and according to the spreadsheet cheaper, (high C) but he has better stats (.277 and is 2nd on the team in HR's with 15 and 2nd on the team in RBI with 52)

Edited- I traded the Twins 2B Freddy Sanchez and SS C. Taylor (4 games ago) to get Ploufee so De Carlo would basically give them depth behind Sano at 3B but could also spell Taylor at SS as well. Rating wise Maurer would be their #2 SP behind Worley and right ahead of Gibson and Meyer.

If I trade them Hicks, he would backup Maurer and allow him to DH or play 1B as well.

M's are pretty high on Seager, don't really see them dealing him for anyone you have listed. Plus Seager is a year older then Chisenhall and seems to me like they are similar players? Do you just not like Chisenhall?

I am running 30-team control in my M's Franchise and dealt A. Cabrera to the Cards for John Jay and Joe Kelly, so something like that could be your OF/SP combo. I don't really see the Cards giving up Wacha or Miller. If you wanted just a SP and not Jay, you could probably do Carolos Martinez, or if you wanted Jay but not Kelly as a SP, you could probably do Maness or Gast. I just went with Kelly because he actually already has some MLB wins, well the others were still in AAA.

If you are really set on trading Chisenhall, I could see the Dodgers, Angels, Yankees, Whitesox, A's, Miami, Cubs, Phillies, and Brewers as places to go.

As far as Smith and Carrasco, you might just check the spreadsheet and see there worth, they are the type of players pretty much any team could add to their team. so just pick a team and look for prospects, or players that match toward their value. If I remember right both are worth High C's, so they are not going to bring you back a ton of talent.

i just dont think Chisenhall will get "It" he's just too much of a free swinger and doesn't have a good eye at the plate at the big league level, so im looking to move him while he's got some promise left. Jay and Kelly isn't a very realistic deal from Clevelands side, i think if Cabrera was having a normal year for him the Cards would do Wacha for ACab straight up. i thought about Martinez but im not sure how i feel about having 2 5'11 guys who might not pitch deep into games as the future top 2 in Salazar/Martinez no matter how good their stuff is you could really hurt the BP with having 3 guys (Salazar, Martinez, Kazmir/Bauer) in the rotation who cant go deep into games.

Not enough if you look at the spreadsheet, Caberra isn't worth Wacha and Smith is not worth Piscotty..

Take Piscotty out of the deal and it is close, but I still don't see the Cards willing to give up Wacha. I think they will C. Martinez, but Miller and Wacha are destine for the rotation very soon.

the spreadsheat is also pretty unrealistic. going by the spreadsheet i could trade Cabrera for Lynn, Matt Adams and Kolten Wong and everyone knows that trade would never go down. Real life realistically Cabrera and Smith are worth Wacha and Piscotty because you dont compare each player in the trades and because its not just about what a player is worth but upgrading their team from what they currentley have.
