Even Gallardo, Lohse, Segura wouldn't be enough. Milwaukee doesn't have the young talent to get a #1 like PriceComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
As I get deeper in my Pirates franchise, I've been starting to consider some pieces that may help my team get stronger if I'm on a winning track with a chance to break the losing season record and/or make the playoffs. Here are a few players I'm interested in and I wanted to get some feedback on if these players could realistically be had and what it would take to get them:
Offense/Position Players
From San Diego Padres:
Chase Headley - I know I have Alvarez, but without a constant, steady 1st baseman (there has been talk that Alvarez could be the future 1st baseman), this would allow me to put Headley at 3rd and try Alvarez at 1st
Cameron Maybin - I know Maybin is a CF, but the thought of having an outfield of Marte, McCutchen, and Maybin just puts a smile on my face.
From Colorado Rockies:
Dexter Fowler - Same case as Maybin.
From Milwaukee Brewers:
Corey Hart - I know this is probably far fetched as not many teams like to trade within the division, but Hart would supply an actual 1st baseman the Pirates have been longing for. No more platooning.
From Minnesota Twins:
Justin Morneau - Again, a solid 1st baseman the Pirates have been longing for with no more platooning necessary.
From Boston Red Sox:
Jose Iglesias - Another position the Pirates have yet to solidify. Iglesias provides a young talent that the Pirates lack in the minors. Clint Barmes simply is not cutting it.
**After re-reading who I'm looking at, my main area of concern is SS, RF, and 1B. I like having Barmes at SS for defensive purposes, but he's getting up there in age and not exactly what I feel as the future SS. As far as RF and 1B goes, I really like Garrett Jones. Although he struggles at times with lefties, I would like to have him at 1B or RF. Whichever position player I could obtain, would solidify his spot on the team.**
Starting Pitching
The Pirates have a 1-2 punch of A.J. Burnett and Wandy Rodriguez, followed by James McDonald. I would think that around June or so, if Gerrit Cole is outperforming in AAA, he'll make it up to the MLB. The 5th spot in the rotation could be filled by Liriano or Morton upon return, but there are a few guys I'd be interested in obtaining to solidify the rotation, in case of injury, fatigue, etc. I only have one in particular as of right now.
From New York Yankees:
Phil Hughes - Hughes, like A.J. Burnett, could benefit from leaving the limelight into the smaller Pittsburgh market. I like what Hughes brings.
I'll be starting to look into bullpen help, but I may have help coming up from the minors!
Thanks in advance guys!!!Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Currently in A's chise and 2nd in the West but only a .5 game ahead of TEX and 1 gm ahead of 3rd place Wild Card team. In the beginning of the season, my pitching was winning me games while my hitting was lacking. I have 6 guys with homers ranging from 12-14 (Lowrie having the most).
I'm looking for a power bat, solid 4-5 starter (don't mind moving Milone or Griffin), and bullpen arm (signed Brian Wilson in offseason but he's becoming somewhat of a bust). I don't have a great farm and don't want to move Addison Russel.
What are some good choices to go for? I was thinking Willingham who has 20+ homers at the ASB, but don't need another outfielder.Comment

I chose Machado because he is young and can play 3B. I love his glove and his potential ceiling. Watched him coming up through the minors for the last few years (IRL), so it's really just a love affair above all else.
I hadn't thought about Gordon. That is a good idea, but would give me two starter worthy SS's that don't play a secondary position. I could always move one of them to 3B, though.
None of the teams are an ideal fit for McCann but you could probably ship him to a team in need of a catcher for prospects and use some of those prospects in a deal for Olt or Gyorko.
An interesting 3B option to invest in for AAA is Italian Alex Liddi of the Mariners. Has some pop and can fill in at 1B as wellFormer modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

As for the 4-5th starter. You want a lefty or righty?
Same question for the bullpen - lefty or righty?Former modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

If you're stacked in the outfield, what position do you want your power bat to play? 1B? Justin Morneau? Take a big gamble on Adam Lind and his contract (he'll come cheap).
As for the 4-5th starter. You want a lefty or righty?
Same question for the bullpen - lefty or righty?
Starter - I'd prefer a righty but if Milone goes, then another lefty.
Bat - I picked up Lombardozzi because Sizemore and Rosales weren't cutting it so I traded Sizemore and moved Rosales to 3rd. Moss has been fine with me so I guess I would like a 2nd or 3rd baseman, and I don't mind flipping Lombar. I was thinking of using Michael Taylor and Jemile as pieces
PS.
What happened to the value chart ACMILAN had in his sig?Last edited by emcee143; 04-25-2013, 12:30 AM.Comment

Bullpen - Right because I have the Beard and Resop as my MRP and neither are really doing anything great.

I think you should try and keep Milone if possible so looking at righty options...Kyle Kendrick, Jeff Niemann, Luke Hochevar, Aaron Harang, John Lackey, Phil Hughes, Charlie Morton, Carlos Villanueva, Mike Leake, Bronson Arroyo, Ricky Nolasco...to name a few
Rickie Weeks as your power bat at 2B?

For your bullpen, I'd target someone like Daniel Bard from Boston or Pedro Strop from Baltimore. Maybe even Henry Rodriguez of the Nats.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Ok so what about Olt from the Rangers or Gyorko from the Padres for the hot corner?

Olt would be the first choice anyway if I can get the pieces. I just don't know what pieces I need to get for TEX.
I was looking at LAD and NYY as possible McCann landing spots after you mentioned them. Take the prospects from that deal and flip them (plus whoever else) for Olt.
I wasn't even aware of Liddi's existence. I like the projects. Could I do a prospect swap? One of my mid-C's straight up for Liddi? Spreadsheet says mid-C.Comment
