Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Hey guys, I'm playing as the Astros in the 2014 season and I'm looking to acquire Mike Olt from Texas. Texas is 52-42, 1.5GB in AL West, 0GB in WC. Houston is 5 games under .500 and not realistically in the hunt. How fair is the following deal:
HOU Receives:
3B Mike Olt-79 ovr, A pot, .269, 16hr, 49rbi (MLB)RP Evan Meek-71 ovr, B POT, 3-1, 3.52era (AAA)
TEX Receives:
LF J.D. Martinez-68 ovr, A POT, .240, 2hr, 25rbi (MLB)SS Sean Rodriguez-71, ovr, B POT, .257, 5hr, 25rbi, 8sb (MLB)CP Jose Veras-85 ovr, A POT, 0-0, 3.30, 30SV (MLB)
They are in need of a 4th OF and a closer (current closer has a 4.78ERA). Olt is their starting 3B but they have Profar behind Andrus. I'm thinking that Rodriguez provides them with a solid ultility player and Veras gives them a reliable closer.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Ok, having realized how one-sided a previous offer was from the Cardinals for Rollins - this one makes me laugh.
STL WOULD TRADE:
SP Shelby Miller (78 OVR, A Pot)
SP Carlos Martinez (78 OVR, A Pot)
SS Rafael Furcal
All for Jimmy Rollins.
Good thing I care about fairness - I could grab potentially 2 high level young pitchers that could be a big part of the rotation for years - for a player in the twilight of his career. I'm really surprised at how lopsided in MY favor the CPU is willing to deal....
Now - after looking at the value spreadsheet - please keep in mind i'm just taking a whack at this and am absolutely trying to be fair and realistic. How does this trade sound:
PHI TRADES:
RP Phillipe Aumont (72 OVR, B Pot, 3-1 5.29 ERA 24 K)
LF John Mayberry Jr (79 OVR, C Pot, .232 4 HR, 11 RBI)
STL TRADES:
SP Carlos Martinez (78 OVR, A Pot)
Looking at the value spreadsheet, to get Martinez in a fair trade would require a mid-level B and a high C. It appears to me that Aumont and Mayberry Jr fit that, though their stats aren't great (some of that being due to me). Mayberry has really good ratings against lefties - 78 contact 80 power - so it's not like he's a nobody. Again, I'm just trying to go by the spreadsheet, so maybe I'm misinterpreting - and I am trying to be fair and realistic.
If you are wanting to keep it fair and realistic, then trading for a teams young A potential SP would and will only happen if the team was getting a major/huge/gigantic upgrade at their weakest position. Well SS is the Cards weakest spot, giving up Miller for a player like Rollins would not be it. So trading for a bullpen arm and a backup OF definitely wouldn't be it Martinez either.
Miller/Martinez/Wacha represent a dominant rotation for the Cards for the next 5-10 years. I would see them trading Lynn or Garcia before giving up these guys. But trust me in saying everyone wants the young 22-23 yr old A prospects.Comment

What happened to Beltre. If Olt is their starting 3B and has hit 16 HR's for them keeping them in the AL West hunt and the wildcard, I don't see why they would want to trade him for a 4th OF and a utility guy hitting .250.
In real life they got Matt Garza.. Instead of Martinez, what if you added a SP like B. Norris, or J. Lyles to the deal. Rodriguez could fill their need for a #4 OF well also backing up the infield, but getting a solid young SP who could be a #3 or #4 SP and another late inning option in the bullpen sounds more fair and realistic.Comment

You're going to have to blow Texas away with a deal for them to give up Olt at this point. More than likely, something involving Bud Norris and another B prospect.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
9 games in...Danks is in AAA and KC could use him as a starter.
KC Starters: Sheilds, Davis, Duffy (9.85 ERA), Paulino (14.20 ERA), Zimmer (16.88 ERA)
Danks has played 3 innings of relief and only allowed 3 hits before being sent down to make room for Morrow. Last season in 18 games he started 16 for me and went 8-3 with 3.77 ERA and 1.35 WHIP and 74K's.
He is values at high C in the spreadsheet and I was going to package him with Jacob Anderson (Mid B in my game, not in spreadsheet). Here is my proposed trade:
Toronto sends Danks, Anderson to KC for Lorenzo Cain, Nathan Adcock, Luis Mendoza. Here are the stats of the players coming from KC.
Cain (Mid B)- Hasnt played yet this year (Brown, Gordon, Lough the outfield). Last year he was .247 with 8 HR, 28 RBI, 80 R and 31 SB in 157 games.
Mendoza (Low C) - in AAA now, and didnt play all last year (no clue why). Stared 1 game is 0-0 with 0.00 ERA and 1.96 WHIP
Adcock (High C) - in AAA made 5 appearances with 1.59 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. Last year he made 8 appearances for KC supporting a 3.86 ERA and 1.50 WHIP, the rest are AAA stats.
I rid Danks sallary but lose Anderson, KC gets a MLB starter tht that need and OF prospect while trading a 4th OF and 2 AAA Arms. Think I could maybe get more or am I asking to much from them. Also with your responses please advise how I can make better (aka who to add from each side to make it work)
I think this is just about right. I definitely wouldn't add more to KC's side.
I actually got offered this trade by the CPU - wondering what everyone thinks. I'm the Philadelphia Phillies - and this is 2013 (1st year of Franchise). The Phils are 71-31 leading by 18.0 games in the N.L. East right now, in late July.
St. Louis wants to trade:
SP Shelby Miller (AAA player - 22 years old, 78 overall, A potential)
SS Rafael Furcal (.267, 4 HR, 24 RBI, 80 Overall - $3.1 Mil in last year of contract)
I (PHI) would have to give up:
SS Jimmy Rollins (.292, 12 HR, 54 RBI, 92 Overall - $9.0 Mil with 1 year left after current season on contract).
If this was real life, I would pretty much do it - dump Rollins' contract, pick up a young prospect pitcher that seems like is going to be very good, and at least for the rest of this season, I get an acceptable fill in for SS. But - in my Franchise reality, Rollins is having a really good season (for him, anyway, at his age of 34). However, Shelby would be the only A potential pitching prospect I'd have on the team (Biddle is only a B pot), though I have a draft pick that will come in next season as a 65 with A potential. Anyway - just curious what others think about this and if I should do pull the trigger. Thanks!
The values listed are for an unrealistic trade, but if you want to aim for fair and plow through the realism part. Not recommended, but the spreadsheet-makers realize some just can't help themselves.

I agree with Deuce though, they're gonna need one of Houston's better SPs. Replace Rodriguez with Norris/Harrell and add another mid-high C piece on their side instead of (or in addition to) Meek.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Thanks for all the responses on the Olt trade. I think you guys are right, in that Olt has 16HR. They seem to have a glut of infielders but no reason to trade someone like Olt when they're in the hunt.
I don't really need a 3B, so I think I'll just shop Veras around to a team that needs him, using the spreadsheet value.
As for Beltre, I'm not sure what happened to him but I'll check next time I load up the game.Comment

Curiosity #2: Still evaluating different scenarios for my franchise (waiting for the deadline roster). How "available" would you say Austin Hedges is ? He looks like a very good prospect behind the plate, but SD also have Grandal. If he is, what would you say SD would be after, position-wise ?
ARI's Stryker Trahan would be option B.Comment

What would be a pretty realistic spot for Braun in the 2013 offseason?
He missed 45 games in the beginning of the season but his stats were:
.280 24 HRs 78 RBI.... .196 ISO

Okay. So I'm about a 2 weeks away from the all star game in my Braves franchise. I'm currently in first place and up by 6 games.
I'm going to be in the market for an everyday 3B and a solid RH arm for the bullpen.
So I need all you fans of other teams to let me know which players you succeed with in those positions.
I could also part ways with BJ Upton if need be. I hate his batting stance in the show. Lol. Gattis and McCann have been great all season so it's been a struggle getting them both in the lineup. So Gattis could play LF if BJ was gone. Schafer has also been great so just another reason why BJ isn't a need.Atlanta Braves | New Orleans Saints | Alabama Crimson Tide | Tampa Bay Lightning | New Orleans PelicansComment

To the Jays for the package I listed earlier
To the Red Sox for Bogaerts + Barnes + Owens
To the Mets for Zack Wheeler + Brandon Nimmo + Domingo Tapia + Rafael Montero
To the Tigers for Nick Castallenos + Bruce Rondon +Avisail Garcia
I'm not sure, honestly. It's tough."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment
