Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Just hit the All-Star break in 2016! I couldn't imagine how well my team would be playing right now. Everything's clicking on all cylinders, and Chris Sale is looking like a true ace. My Astros currently sit at 58-37, but this still leaves me 4.5 GB of the Angels, who are dominating the entire league.
Here's a list of my All-Stars:
SP Chris Sale 8-2, 103 SO, 2.87 ERA
SS Myself .280, 15 HR, 73 RBI
RF Jason Heyward .304, 18 HR, 77 RBI
I'm liking the Heyward signing more and more, especially since Bautista has been tanking this season (Still high overall, just poor performance). There's projected to be a huge class of FA's this off season, and if I fail to reach the World Series, I will likely dump salary from underpreforming players to grab some better pieces.
Notable Projected Free Agents for 2017:
RF Giancarlo Stanton
CP Craig Kimbrel
CF Mike Trout
RF Josh Reddick
C Carlos Santana
SP Jeremy Hellickson
SP CC Sabathia
CP Sergio Romo
LF Dayan Viciedo
SP Gio Gonzalez
RP Aaron Crow
C Matt Wieters
RF Jay Bruce
SP James Shields
SP Jared Weaver
3B Mike Moustakas
1B Ike Davis
1b Justin Smoak
SP Alexi Ogando
2B Dustin Ackley
Ya, it's a deep FA class even if only 1/3 of them test FA. I would love the chance to grab Crow, and of course Stanton if I can make room in the budget. Will update at the end of the season!Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Is anyone starting over with the patch ?? We have 3 users 40 games in. That's 25% of the season. With the OSFM rosters looming also. I been playing as the cardinals kinda like to give KC a shot.I play MLB exclusively with my cousin. Usually looking for info on Franchises. We played minor league baseball as 9-10 YOs on the Zephyrs.Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Finished out the season rather poorly, after losing every series in August which put me in risk of falling out of playoff contention once again. We managed to hold it together though, and battled through September, finishing 91-71. This awarded us a Wild Card spot, trailing the Angels in our division who finished 101-61.
Notable Player Stats:
SP Chris Sale 13-6, 2.88 ERA, 231.1 IP, 217 SO, 61 BB
SP Jacob Turner 16-5, 3.52 ERA, 217.1 IP, 157 SO, 54 BB
RP Neftali Feliz 8-3, 2.88 ERA, 2 SV, 3 BSV, 18 HLD, 115.2 IP, 96 SO, 44 BB
1B Chris McGuiness .301, 18 HR, 80 RBI (Didn't sit out a single game!)
RF Jason Heyward .296, 34 HR, 128 RBI, 16 SB
2B Delino De Shields .236, 6 HR, 40 RBI, 32 SB
AL Award Winners:
MVP - 1B Prince Fielder .325, 38 HR, 137 RBI (Tigers)
Cy Young - SP Chris Tillman 19-2, 2.48 ERA, 143 SO (Angels)
Batting Title - CF Mike Trout .343, 35 HR, 115 RBI (Angels)
Delivery Man - CP Ryan Madson 55 SV, 1.31 ERA, 53 SO (Angels)
Rookie - 1B Donny Barrios .279, 22 HR, 76 RBI (Angels)
Hank Aaron - CF Mike Trout (Angels)
Gold Glove P - SP Chris Sale 1.000 FLD, 19 PO, 13 A (Astros)
GG C - Matt Wieters .997 FLD, 1007 PO, 77 A (Orioles)
GG 1B - Paul Goldschmidt .991 FLD, 1034 PO, 124 A (Red Sox)
GG 2B - Robinson Cano .996 FLD, 267 PO, 425 A (Yankees)
GG 3B - Manny Machado .995 FLD, 51 PO, 169 A (Orioles)
GG SS - Brandon Crawford .992 FLD, 197 PO, 388 A (Yankees)
GG OF - LF Alex Gordon 1.000 FLD, 366 PO, 12 A (Royals)
GG OF - CF Adam Jones .995 FLD, 366 PO, 22 A (Orioles)
GG OF - RF Matt Joyce .990 FLD, 285 PO, 15 A (Rays)
Silver Slugger C - Wilson Ramos .294, 28 HR, 87 RBI (Yankees)
SS 1B - Prince Fielder (Tigers)
SS 2B - Ian Kinsler .290, 24 HR, 98 RBI (Blue Jays)
SS 3B - Miguel Cabrera .295, 34 HR, 113 RBI (Tigers)
SS SS - Myself .289, 32 HR, 114 RBI (Astros)
SS OF - CF Mike Trout .343, 35 HR, 115 RBI (Angels)
SS OF - RF Jason Heyward .296, 34 HR, 128 RBI (Astros)
SS OF - RF Matt Joyce .300, 24 HR, 77 RBI (Rays)
Now onto the playoffs, where I was eliminated in the Wild Card round by the Royals 0-3. They were quickly swept by the Angels in the next round though, and the Angels advanced to the World Series to face the Reds. And after all 7 games were played, the Reds were crowned World Series Champions, defeating the Angels. Making back-to-back NL World Series Champions, following the Nationals who won last season. As for my Astros, it's time to shed payroll of underpreforming players, and it's time to win now! To the Offseason!Comment

CF Curtis Granderson NY Yankees
SP CC Sabathia NY Yankees
3B Michael Young NY Yankees
SP Wandy Rodriguez CLE Indians

My first move in the offseason, was to move 2B Jose Altuve. He just wasn't what I was looking for in my 2B anymore, so I searched the league for teams in need of a 2B and here's a list of candidates I came up with:
- New York Mets
- Chicago Cubs
- Cincinnati Reds
- Los Angeles Dodgers
- San Fransisco Giants
- Baltimore Orioles
- Los Angeles Angels
Next was narrowing it down to teams with prospects I was interested in:
- Chicago Cubs
- Cincinnati Reds
- Los Angeles Dodgers
- Baltimore Orioles
Houston Astros Receive:
SP Daryl Michaud 68ovr A pot
RP Diego Guillen 81ovr B pot
CP Al Mulder 87ovr B pot
Baltimore Orioles Receive:
2B Jose Altuve 94ovr A pot
To complete a decent Off Season, I signed RP Andres Rodriguez 86ovr B pot. Now, with my bullpen looking pretty good, I can focus on my OF, aside from Heyward. I'll update again, once the season starts.Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Unfortunately, not many position players tested FA that I could use. No one worth my money in the OF. Lot of infielders though, but my infield is already one of the best in the league. The FA class as a whole was pretty weak, I think the best player available was CP Craig Kimbrel, who signed with Kansas City. Corey Hart and Mark Trumbo were notable players as well. I was really hoping to see Stanton come out, but he signed a 5 year extension with Miami (WHY!?!?!?!? They still suck!).Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Alright so im just past the All Star break in my Nationals franchise and I have made some big trades already. I traded Dan Haren, Drew Storen, D. Small, C. Stout, and J. Russel to the Marlins for Ricky Nolasco, Giancarlo Stanton, Gregg Dobbs, and two minor leaguers.
A few weeks later in July I traded R. Detwiler, R. Soriano, and T. Clippard to the Orioles in return for Dylan Bundy, and Jim Johnson.
As of August 1 we are 62-46 and leading the Wild Card race with Atlanta winning the Division.
My Lineup with out DH looks like this (avg/hr/RBI)
1 Denard Span (.243/2/21)
2 Ryan Zimmerman (.316/10/57)
3 Giancarlo Stanton (.290/28/73)
4 Bryce Harper (.288/23/76)
5 Ian Desmond (.278/20/53)
6 Adam LaRoche (.242/10/60
7 Kurt Suzuki (.214/4/15)
8 Danny Espinosa (.245/10/27)
Pitching Rotation (W-L/ERA/SO)
1 Stephen Strasburg (8-3/2.78/137)
2 Gio Gonzalez (13-4/3.01/122)
3 Jordan Zimmermann (10-5/3.56/74)
4 Dylan Bundy (2-1/3.38/25)
5 Ricky Nolasco (3-12/5.03/52)
Will update results at end of season!Comment

Ok every year I do this fantasy draft franchise while abusing the trade logic to see how stacked of a team I can build until the osfm rosters drop where I will do a serious franchise with realistic and fair trades. I never have forced trades on, however with my lineup I couldn't blame you for thinking so. So without further adieu here is my team:
C- Buster Posey
1B- Joey Votto
2B- Robinson Cano
3B- Miguel Cabrera
SS- Troy Tulowitzki
OF- Andrew McCutchen
OF- Mike Trout (Only drafted player)
OF- Matt Kemp
Bench:
C- Wilson Ramos
1B- Mark Trumbo
SS- Jose Reyes
OF- Desmond Jennings
Pitching:
Felix Hernandez
David Price
Mat Latos
Mike Minor
Michael Pineda
I counted my messages and it totaled to around 50 completed trade messages. I was surprised how many I had. I will play a few games with them until I start my real franchise.

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Hope this isn't to off topic for this thread.
Simmed to the offseason to get an idea of what stuff needs to be done before i start my proper franchise.
When re-signing players in the off-season should i resign most of my players and just leave a few spots open or make big changes, not sure what the norm is for baseball.
Also why do players have stats for the up coming season when no games have been played. 2013 off season and players have 2014 stats in there player card.
edit: thanks kmoser , sink.Last edited by dazzelle; 03-28-2013, 09:52 PM.Comment
