    Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

Just wrapped up the first series of the year for my Tigers. Got swept in Minnesota. In the first and second games, I scored one run each, because I couldn't buy a hit with RISP. In the third game, I scored six runs (Miggy knocked in five of them), but my bullpen blew a three run lead in the 9th and Minnesota walked off. The only bright side of the final game was setting a personal best with eight walks in the game.

It was a rough first series of the year, but I have a feeling that things will turn around eventually. I hope to get back on track in the first series in Comerica against the Yanks.
    MLB: Detroit Tigers
    NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins
    NCAA FB: Penn State
    NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers

      N4E's Pittsburgh Pirates Franchise

-- The Pirates opened up the 2013 baseball season hosting the Chicago Cubs in a 3 game series in which the Pirates took 2 out of 3. Including the highlight of the series from James McDonald who tossed 6 innings 2 hits to go along with his 7 strike outs. Andrew McCutchen raked up 7 hits in the series to go along with his first home run of the year off of Travis Wood. The Cubs looked to Anthony Rizzo's bat in the series who gave the Cubs their only win in game 2 when Rizzo knocked in a 2 out base hit to give the Cubs a 5-4 lead in the 8th.

The Pirates will travel to the (3-0) LA Dodgers next.

Seems like many people are having fun with the Tribe. Perhaps try them! I like the Dbacks idea as well.

Alright I might go with the tribe. Also I like the d backs, but I will probably choose an AL team.

The Indians were my 2nd choice, still not sure if it was right to go with KC. I really couldn't make up my mind so I just followed some suggestions I got here. Better than tossing a coin I guess lol..

So I played the first regular season game of my Royals Franchise (just played 1 ST game and simmed the rest). It was a 7 to 1 win against the White Sox. Definitely smth new for me, I'm always using very tough sliders and often start out the season with a losing streak.

Chris Sale was only lasting 2 innings, giving up 7 H and 6 ER including 2 HR from Perez and Cain. This actually made me double checking my difficulty settings (everything on All star) and sliders lol. Shields went 7.1 innings allowing 4 H and 0 ER. Chris Getz was the only player on my Starting lineup who didn't get a hit. Chicago's only Run came on a Adam Dunn HR in the 9th inning.

Excited to see how this will continue, I'm definitely not used to do so well on All Star with even sliders from The Show 12. Will leave the settings how they are for now.

Anybody else here doing a KC franchise?
              Spending time with Jesus!

Struggling through June with my marlins. Really debating trading Giancarlo. My options seem to be the Red Sox, Rangers or Cardinals. I really don't want to trade him but there is almost no position prospects in my system. I can get olt, profar and Martin and be set on my left side for at least the next 5 years.

I hope they trade him in real life. That dude needs out. Too much talent to be wasted in Miami.

I am mirroring the 2013 real world season with my on "MLB 13 The Show" season and four games into the young campaign I sport an identical 3-1 record managing the Rockies just as the real world Rockies are sporting a 3-1 record. The only difference is, I won my opener and lost the 2nd game while the real world version lost the opener and have won three in a row since then. But there is one big difference between my campaign and the real world team. The real world Rockies offense is on fire while my offense has done enough (just barely) to squeak out 3 wins. My version of the Rockies has Cargo and Helton struggling at the plate while Tulo, Cuddyer and Rosario each having only one homer while the real world version has Fowler with 3 homers, Tulo, Cargo, Rosario with 2 homers and Cuddyer also hitting a dinger.

It's a little too early to know for sure, but I suspect the real world version of this team is going to be much better than anyone thought ... assuming they can stay healthy.

Started a franchise with the rays and off to a great start. Price has been huge with a 3-0 record and a 1.46 ERA. We are currently tie for first in the division with the Yankees and blue jays at 12-6. Jennings is leading our team in batting with a .356 ave and has hit 3 hr and 11 stolen bases. Normally I'm a NL guy but something about the rays and that division made me want to try them and I'm glad i did.

Just started my franchise with the Yankees. Going to be playing one game, then sim 5 so I can get through multiple seasons and use a different pitcher every start. Also want one last chance to win a World Series before I rebuild with the Yankees. Lost opening day 3-2 to Boston.

playing all 162 games with my nationals and i just finished the first series of the season against the marlins.

Game 1- Pitching battle Strasburg went 8IP 3H 1ER 1BB 11K and Nolasco went 8IP 4H 1ER 2BB 8K. i won the game in the 14th inning on an adam laroche walk off homerun!

Game 2- Harper started off the game with a 20run HR in the first inning. Then Justing Ruggiano hit a 3-run HR in the 3rd inning and then Gio got injured and had to be taken out. The bullpen held down the fort an didnt give up any runs the rest of the game. Roger Bernadina hit a pinch hit 3-run HR to give me the lead 5-4 and that ended up being the final.

Game 3- I got destroyed. 1st inning i gave up a 3-run HR to Stanton then in the next inning the Marlins scored 4 more runs to make it 7-0. i lost the game 8-1

The real problem i had this series was hitting (17 hits in 3 games). Im hoping playing in Cin will allow the bats to come out

                            "Seattle Mariners"
                            6-8 / 4.0 GB (4-7 Division)

Well, Texas came to town for a 4 game set and this was a good opportunity to see exactly what this team had. Game 1 featured Felix Hernandez and he pitched a complete game 1 hit shut out with Lance Berkman breaking up the no hitter in the 7th inning. Games 2 & 3 were all Texas as the pitching was not very good and the hitting wasn't timely. Game 4 was all Seattle through 7 with Blake Bevan pitching his 2nd good game in a row after the opening start debacle. Texas took the lead though off the bull pen in the 8th inning. Mike Morse has woken up and has lifted the Mariner offense with 3 homeruns in the series and a big 2 run homerun in the bottom of the 8th to retake the lead 4-3, but Tom Wilhelmsen gave up 2 runs in the top of the 9th for his 2nd blown save of the season.

Kendrys Morales is 2nd in the American League with a .393 average, but is only 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position. He leads in doubles (7), hits (23) & runs scored (13).

Mike Morse has started to jack homeruns and has 6 on the season now with 14 RBI's. Dustin Ackley had a 2 homerun game in game 2 of the series and Kendrys Morales has a solo homerun as well. The team as a whole hasn't hit many, but that's to be expected and at least they are starting to get one every once in a while with Morse hitting a couple clutch shots lately.

The rotation has been a bit of a mess for me. Hernandez, Iwakuma & Saunders have been really good and Bevan is coming along, but I am not sold on Ramirez and have started Hector Noesi once in his place and pulled him early for Jeremy Bonderman in his 2nd start. I might move 1 of those 2 to the rotation and move Ramirez to AAA soon, but I will not have a short leash and will see what he does in the future here.

Jason Bay has been a pleasant surprise. He has 5 doubles and sports an average over .300 in limited play and may push Morse into a full time DH role with Bay in left as his defensive numbers are better. That means Justin Smoak will see the most time on the bench as I can swap Morales and Morse between 1st and DH. I have thought about putting Morse at 3rd to see what he can do there as Kyle Seager is struggling at the plate hitting .140 with 3 RBI's, but I think if I move anyone there it will be Robert Andino which is also hitting over .300 and has seen playing time, but not as much as the starters.

So many thoughts running through my head to get the hot players on the field and I am liking this team a lot as I got a lot of pieces I can move around to get everyone a fair amount of playing time. Along with the training aspect to get certain guys better where I want them to and looking forward to the 11th pick in the draft and hopefully finding my cornerstone CFer there I am having a good time thinking about and playing all the games.

I have a question for conversation amongst Mariner chise users if any or anyone else for that matter. What do you guys plan to do with the catcher situation when Zunino is ready to make the move? Which one do you keep, do you move one to 1st or another position if possible and if you deal one of them what are you looking for in return?

Started my annual Nationals Franchise on Monday just way to busy to post it
Playing on HOF for Pitching and hitting, leading both leagues in ERA but I'm lowest in both leagues on walks by just a couple
Right now in week 4 my team is an NL East leading 13-4 by virtue of playing easy teams like the Mets and Marlins so much..
Adam Laroche leads the league in batting average while, Bryce Harper is top ten in home runs. My Starting pitching and bullpen has been absolutely dominate not suprisngly
Division leaders in the NL: Dodgers,Reds,Nationals..I don't pay attention to the AL
The Dodger seem to be Unstoppable at a crazy record of 15-2
Hitting and Pitching this year are not frustratingly hard but serve a fun challenge

Im hoping playing in Cin will allow the bats to come out
I also had a rough time hitting in my second series against the Fish, I got shutout by a 4th rotation pitcher....this was just after I clobbered the Braves in a 4 game series haha. I think its because the new park in Miami has a massive outfield, trying to hit a homerun out of there is almost impossible sometimes.

I've noticed with the Nationals more as I've played as them, that they have no glaring weaknesses. The one place I can think of is 2nd base and that isn't even that weak. How bout you?
