Started a franchise with my Astros yesterday and lost to Texas 5-1 in 11. I was up 1-0 in the 9th with 2 outs (Bud Norris going for the complete game shut out) David Murphy blasts a solo to the Crawford Boxes to tie it at 1. In the 11th the bases are loaded for A.J Pyrsinski (spell?) destroys a inside fastball to take the lead and first win of the series. I WILL be playing every game this season...won't be done until probably October?

Started franchise with the Rangers. I am using Armor & Swords sliders and playing one game per series.
We are 6-2 after 8 games.
First at bat for the Rangers in game 8 Kinsler hits a slow roller to short, while running to first he gets hurt. At the end of the game I see Kinsler has dislocated his ankle and will be out 6 months.
Guess I'll bring Profar up.Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Started a franchise as the royals. Planned to play 80 games per season. I dropped that plan after 2 series and a bit of raging. Now i might be restarting due to bad team management on my part. I completely forgot to resign everyone in the off season. Only focused on good prospects and coaching. Opened pre season with 32 players total. And 4 million doallrs. Had to quite a bit of force trading for crappy players... But during the 1st season we did have a 17 game win streak. Still finished 8 games below .500.Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Im seven games into my Houston Astros chise, and I play every game (thats the reason I bought the game was to play it right.) And after playing with this team I have become very frustrated as we have committed like 20 errors maybe more in the first seven games.
Then I just play my eighth game and we commit two more errors. I have grown OVERLY frustrated so far. I damn near chucked my controller at my window.Comment

"Seattle Mariners"
5-5 / ? GB (3-4 Division)
I ran into the Houston Astros for a 3 game set and the first home stand of the season and won the 1st 2 nicely, but got hammered in the 3rd game. 2 guys for the Astros had not played a game yet this year and both took the 1st pitch over the wall including the 1st pitch of the game and ended up 4 for 5 on the day. In the 1st game I won mainly on the defensive issues mentioned a post before this one and the 2nd game Blake Beavin pitched a complete game shut out when in his 1st start he gave up 8 in 3 innings of work. Gonna be that up and down eh? lol
I now got a 4 game set against the Texas Rangers and will find out a lot more about this team through the weekend.
I sent down Josh Kinney already as he is a situational righty and did not do well at all in the 2 games he pitched in in favor of Danny Farquhar to give me more of a couple batters or full inning eater as I have 3 lefties in the pen which is not what I usually do, but my options for long relievers is limited so I can keep the young stud starters in AAA and get playing time.
I posted about a couple possible trades in the trades thread, but I decided against them. Was seriously thinking about moving one of my 3B Stefen Romero or Patrick Kivlehan both young B's to maybe replace Aramis Ramirez in a couple years for Carlos Gomez, but Ioki tore up his knee and is out for the season most likely so there went that idea.Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Just started my one and only serious MLB 13 Franchise with the Kansas City Royals. I have been waiting for the OSFM roster and patch to drop and now I'm finally good to go. It's the first time ever that I'm using the Royals but after their offseason acquisitions and some good advices on here helped me to decide that they'll be my team of choice this year. They are exactly what I'm looking for, a talented young team with some postseason hopes but no guaranty playing in a pretty nice ballpark and interesting division. My (close) second choice were the Indians by the way. I'm a sim gamer and stat nerd and I'm planning on playing almost all games myself as always. Hope I'll make it deep into my franchise and for the first time manage to complete a full season! Wish me luck guysSpending time with Jesus!

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
I usually do a franchise with the astros every year but I have been really thinking about doing a chise with another team. I was thinking of picking a team that is not in rebuilding mode or is an already super good team like the dodgers. I was thinking Indiands or Blue Jays ( I know the jays are really good this year but I like the people on them), but I also like the diamondbacks. I just don't know. Any suggestions guys?Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Started with the Mets, OSFM... Traded Johan to Baltimore for Arrieta and Xavier Avery. Opening day vs the Padres in a pitcher's duel Matt Harvey gave up 2 runs in the 6th. In the 8th David Wright hit a 2 run HR to tie it. And in the bottom of the 10th he hit another 2 run homer to win it. On of the best opening day games I've played.Beavers|Red Sox|Buccaneers|NBA HoopsComment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Cardinals , Red Sox , and Tigers. 3 user.
1 month from the release date and we are on May 25th ! 49 games in. Only simmed 3 games apiece. The opposing pitching has tightened for all of us. Our pitching staffs are starting to define themselves. A couple times through the rotation now we know who's gonna pitch good , who's gonna be rough , and the up / down guys. The second tier players are producing now. Everyone started on fire. The homers have slowed down. Averages are averaging out. We each have 1 player hitting over 400.
Cardinals
If your a lefty on the Cardinals your going to the all star game !! Wie yen Chen worked his way into the rotation Posting a filthy 8-0 record. This is the wind up I use for my rtts guy and I think it's working lol. I start him as soon as he's ready. Felix Doubront and Jaime Garcia are both undefeated too. My lefties are sick. My righties on the other hand .... Shelled or give me a chance. I'm happy with the way it's working. Danny espinosa is playing like Brett Boone !! 4 th on team in hrs with 13 right now !! And hitting over 400.
Red sox
Mike trout is attempting the stolen base record and has 48 so far. Ruby Delarosa and Michael Pineda are both in prime form. 6 man rotation with those 2 Madison Bumgarner , Lincecum , aj griffin , and John danks. Joe Nathan has 12 saves and no earned runs yet !! Jonathan Sanchez is a beast in the long releif role. Good enough control with great movement to get ground ball or k when needed. Mike olt has been a nice surprise for the red sox. 6th in al in rbis. JJ hardy has been good for a clutch hit.I play MLB exclusively with my cousin. Usually looking for info on Franchises. We played minor league baseball as 9-10 YOs on the Zephyrs.Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Finally got to opening day with my DBacks franchise. Usually my opening day games are boring affairs with both teams feeling each other out for nine innings.
Ian Kennedy gave up a first inning solo-shot to Allen Craig but bounced back by stranding two runners in the second. Bottom two, A.J Pollock singles before Cliff Pennington smacks an RBI triple to the wall. With two outs and a runner in third, Ian Kennedy rifles an RBI single to break the tie and pu us on top.
Whilst Ian Kennedy had settled down on the mound, Adam Wainwright was struggling with his command, and found himself with 60-plus pitches by the time the third was over, an inning in which he gave up a two run shot to Jason Kubel. When Kubel followed that up with a solo shot that scraped the top of the fence in right-field, hitting the foul pole. Wainwright lasted 4.1 innings, throwing over 100 pitches and surrendering 5 runs. Everything seemed to be plain sailing for Kennedy until the sixth when he gave up RBI singles to pinch-hitter Pete Kozma and Yadier Molina aswell as a second home run to Allen Craig, tieing the game 5-5.
As the bullpens took over, Shelby Miller and Fernando Salas looked sharp as did their Arizona counterparts Brad Ziegler and Heath Bell. Bottom of the 8th with two outs and Mitchell Boggs on the mound, Eric Chavez was sent to th plate for Bell who had just tossed a scoreless top half of the eigth. After working a 2-1 count, Boggs served up a fastball right down broadway. Chavez hit a line shot into th right field camera well and Arizona led 6-5.
Expecting a tie ball game heading into the 9th, closer J.J. Putz was firmly sat down. I had set up man David Hernandez up and throwing, so I handed him the 9th and he locked down the save to give Arizona the win.
One-and-oh baby!Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
I started a franchise with the Tribe the other day after struggling recently with the Cardinals. Actually, I'm off to a great start with them but the real life Cardinals have frustrated me so much so I needed a break on the game.
Anyways, Carlos freaking Santana is the man! He hit 5 home runs and is hitting over .600 after the series in Toronto! That's by far the best start I've ever had with a player. This guy is pure awesomeness, and the fact that I'm 3-0 helps as well. These guys might just make me say adios to the Redbirds...Comment
