How often do you guys play a game? Surely you all don't play all 162. Do you go 1 per series, or play 1 then sim a certain amount?

More power to you, man. I wish I had the drive to do that, since I MUCH prefer all stats being genuinely mine. Regardless, I just think I'll pick any given game from a series and play 1.

            Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

Got bored of my Pirates chise. So i started a new one with the Astros.

Didnt play much the 1st year. I played opening day and thats it. And the year was bad. Going into September, there was a very good chance that we were going to break the record for worst record in a 162 game season (43
-119). The team decided it didnt want that record winning 12 games and finishing 48-114.

My goal wasnt to even attempt to win this year. I wanted to scout and draft good. Trade for young hitters. And look to the future.

In the 1st round of the draft i got a 19 year old 1B named Kevin Pedroza with B potential. His hitting stats are all 65+. But do to his fielding will be playing DH. H e will most likely start 2014 in AAA. He is going to be on the team in Spring Training though and if he does good i have no problem skipping the minors with him all together.

In the 2nd round i got a 21 year old RF named Rene Ramirez with A potential. I expect him to reach the Majors as early as 2016.

3rd round we got a 22 year old SS named Julio Feliz with B potential. With his hitting stats alone id expect him up in 3-4 years. But do to his defense he could take longer with Pedroza at DH.

I traded Jose Altuve to the Dodgers for Corey Seager and Joc Pederson

I traded JD Martinez and Jason Castro tot he Mets for Wilmer Flores, Brandon Nimmo, and Kevin Plawecki

Altuve is great but he got me 2 guys who will produce.

Not really sure what my plan is heading into the off season. Doubt ill have much money so wont be many new signings.

                    Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

Wasn't sure where to post this as its about franchise/player regression so sorry if its to off topic.

I am near the end of june in my Rangers franchise and A.Beltre (age 33) has gone down to a 86 dropping 5-6 points in all attributes, didn't think to much about it till i started looking thru other teams rosters and most of the other 33-34 year olds are as they started with the odd player gaining/losing a point in 1 or 2 attributes.

I simmed 3 seasons to the same point and in all three he gained points in a few att. so not sure what happened in my franchise and was going to start a new one until i remembered i could just edit him back to how he was.

Will editing him have any side effects ?

I think the regression is a little over the top so had an idea of picking one veteran from each team and halving(editing) there regression each year/half year to keep some of the better older players playing.

Going into the spring i pretty much knew who my hitters were going to be. I had 3 guys that I wasnt sure about. 2013 1st round pick 1B Kevin Pedroza, 3B Corey Seager and LF Joc Pederson. Seager and Pedroza ended up going to AAA. Pedroza won a spot as the DH.

Pitching was the biggest unknown going in. I had 8 guys i was looking at. Jordan Lyles and Brad Peacock were terrible. Jarred Cosart was much better than them. But the other 5 were much better. Norris, Humber, Harrell, Meyer, and Bedard won the spots.

I have never been so excited with a losing record. Currently sitting at 19-31. Worst record in the AL. I dont think we got to 19 wins before July last year.

My rookies have been great. Kevin Plawecki is hitting .270 with an OBP of .349. Wilmer Flores is only hitting .250 but has an OBP of .315 and has been great on D. But the best has been Kevin Pedroza. He leads the team in Hits, Doubles, Home Runs and RBI. And is leading the Rookie of The Year.

Pitching on the other hand is pretty bad. Currently last in the Majors with an ERA of 4.82. I have no doubt that we would be above .500 with a better rotation. Bud Norris is struggling with a 5.28 ERA. And Erik Bedard is 1-5 with a 4.70. They might be sent down and replaced with Peacock and Lyles who are a combined 11-4 with a 2.94 ERA.

I dont think the draft will be as good as last years. I forgot all about it until early may. Need to grab a few pitchers and thats about it.

Im really happy with where this team is. Future looks bright with the current rookies and the prospects that still havent reached the Majors.

                            Tanner Scheppers 0-0, 4 Saves, 3.2 IP, 4.91 ERA, 4K

                            TEAM ERA 4.50

                            The Good:
Power Hitting. Pena has 4 HR, Wallace has 5 H, Olt and Castro have 2, and Altuve, F-Mart and Grossman have 1.
Contact. Team AVG of .324, 6 of Starting 9 have 10+ hits after 9 games.

                            The Bad:
Starting Pitching. Outside of Bud Norris (2-0, 3.18 ERA, 16 K) and Jonathan Sanchez (1-0, 2.45 ERA, 3K), the Starters have been bad. Harrell is 0-0 with a 5.40 ERA in 11.2 IP. Bedard is 0-2, 5.25 ERA in 12.0 IP, but has 15K. Lyles is 1-0 with a 6.08 ERA over 13.1 IP with 9K.

Relief Pitching. Having starters get ripped open by opponent’s offense is bad enough. But I have to deal with it from my bullpen too, big time. My bullpen is made up mostly from Free Agents I signed in Spring Training. The Middle Relief trio of Jordan Norberto, Cory Wade, and Chris Leroux have given up 1R in 4.2 IP. Travis Blackley has been good as a Long Reliever, posting a 0.00 ERA in 3.1 IP, allowing just 3 hits. Carlos Zambrano is my other Long Reliever. He’s got a 6.75 ERA in 4.0 IP,a dn Kameron Loe has a 10.13 ERA in 2.2 IP as the Setup Man. Tanner Scheppers is the Closer, with a 4.91ERA, and a perfect 4-4 in Save Opportunities.

JD Martinez. He hasn’t been hitting since Game 1, and the absent bat has caused a problem in my lineup the last few games. I’ve been living and dying by the Long Ball, but I won’t be able to do it all year, so I need people to get on base so they can score, and if JD can’t, I need to find someone who will.

Outfield Arms. All 3 of my Outfielders have bad-ish to terrible throwing arms, a problem I see causing a major issue throughout the season, especially when I can’t throw out runners at Home.

A May report is coming soon as the New York Yankees are going on the road vs the Orioles and 2.5 games out of first. Currently we are on a 4 game losing streak after losing the rubber match vs Seattle, then dropping 3 straight one run games vs the Blue Jays at home.

The Yankees are in very intense trade talks with the Giants and the names rumored to be in the talks are Ivan Nova and Tim Lincecum. Also reports are coming out of LA the Dodgers have interest in picking up the now expendable Lyle Overbay for a Relief Pitcher.

Details will emerge if the deals go through.

Lincecum has struggled mightily this season with a 5 plus ERA and Ivan Nova has had some injury issues and is currently out of the rotation and in long relief. Lincecum is a pending free agent and the deal would be a risk for the Yankees if they are unable to sign him to a long term deal.

Figured I would chime in on my Astros franchise. Only to May, but here's the stats (lineup as well):

                                2B - Altuve (.313, 0 HRs, 11 RBIs)
                                RF - Paredes (.255, 2 HRs, 6 RBIs)
                                C - Castro (.247, 2 HRs, 7 RBIs)
                                LF - JD Martinez (.281, 1 HR, 7 RBIs)
                                DH - Carter (.198, 5 HRs, 19 RBIs)
                                3B - Dominguez (.228, 1 HR, 6 RBIs)
                                CF - Maxwell (.203, 2 HR, 7 RBIs)
                                SS - Cedeno (.247, 0 HR, 9 RBIs)
                                1B - Pena (.241, 2 HR, 9 RBIs)

                                ROTATION:
                                1 - Norris (1-4, 6.25 ERA)
                                2 - Harrell (1-3, 6.90 ERA
                                3 - Lyles (1-5, 5.13 ERA)
                                4 - Bedard (4-0, 2.50 ERA)
                                5 - Keuchel (2-1, 2.67 ERA)

6.5 games back in my division and things aren't looking too good. Just want to let my players develop without any major changes. Norris and/or Veras might be the only two who might get traded at the deadline. Norris is playing terrible so I'm not expecting much if I do let him go. I might benefit more just having him eat some innings and letting him walk after the season. Veras has been lights out - problem is, he isn't getting very many opportunities to close - mostly 9th inning games when we're getting blown out to keep him warm.

Looking ahead to 2014 and I have some question marks:

                                1) Will we sign Altuve yearly, long term, or look for a trade partner? I am beginning to think we would love to sign him to a 5-6 year deal. It will benefit both sides as he will be our captain and man 2B for years, while only being 27 or 28 after his contract is up - allowing him another possible nice contract.

                                - DeShields is playing decently at 2B in AA (.250, 2 HRs, 10 RBIs). He can always make the transition to CF if we do sign Altuve long term.

2.) Who will play CF in 2014 for us? Maxwell is playing very poorly as we had higher expectations after he had 18 bombs in only 315 ABs from 2012.

                                - Barnes and Grossman are both capable of playing CF, but they are each hitting below .175 coming off the bench/spot starts.

                                - I had very high hopes George Springer would be manning CF at some point during this season, but he is having all sorts of problems in AA and there is talk of a possible demotion to A if the month of May looks similar to April (83 ABs, 0 HRs, 3 RBIs, 20 Ks in 83 ABs). Still hoping he can put it together.

3.) Who will play 1B? Pena has been decent in the lineup and has played very solid defense. However, I will not be re-signing him after this season.

Jonathan Singleton should be ready at some point in the 2014 season, as he is absolutely demolishing AA (5 HRs, 20 RBIs, .387 AVG, .459 OBP). I might be in the market for a 1B who I can sign to a 2-year deal or possibly swing a trade in the offseason for a cheap 1B to hold ground until he's ready.

4.) Who will play SS in 2014? Cedeno and Marwin G have been a decent platoon. Nolan Fontana might also be ready sometime in 2014 as he brings a decent bat, good defense, and walks a ton).

We are currently spinning the tires on a Veras (CP) + J. Mier (SS) for Dee Gordon (SS) trade, but nothing is set in stone. Prospect Villar is also playing very poorly.

                                Thanks for reading!
