I'm entering a new offseason and my two prized players (Trout and Harper) are slowly starting to regress at ages 24 and 23 respectively. I'm seeing little -1's next to certain attributes. Any way that I can combat this? Besides going back every so often and editing them up I have no ideas

Down 0-2 in ALCS vs Oakland. Blew late game leads in both games losing 1-2, and 2-5. I shouldn't even be in this game but i grinded down the stretch getting in .5 ahead of Boston. Washington is up 2-0 vs the dodgers.
Hopefully i can get the bats moving when i head to the Bronx. Will be restructuring lineup as well.
Ichiro - .056
Wells - .083
A. Rod - .105
Cervelli - .150
C'mon, son.

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Finally finished my first season with the Indians. At All Star break we were 10.5 games ahead of the Tigers and never looked back.
The Blue Jays beat out the Rangers to face the Angels in the Division Series where they upset the best team of the regular season with a huge 7th inning HR that took the lead and the series.
The Indians we able to hold off the pesky Red Sox with a masterful Complete Game from Matsuzaka where he allowed only 3 Hits and one earned run as Nick Swisher and A-Rod brought in all 6 runs.
The Reds and Giants went five games but with 5-0 shutout from Mat Latos Cinci was on their way to the NLCS.
The Braves took out the rival Nationals three games to one behind 3 HRs from Jason Heyward and great pitching from Medlen and Co.
CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
The Indians smelled blood as they entered Game 6 at home after blowing a chance to win Game 5. Behind the big bat of Jason Kipnis the Indians won a trip to the World Series with a 10-3 win.
Cincinnati trailed the Braves 3-1 before finally waking up and rallying to take game seven with a huge 6-0 shutout victory to earn a chance to face the Indians for the first all-Ohio World Series.
WORLD SERIES
Game 1 - The Indians and Reds had a pitching dual for the ages as there were six hits for each team before the mid-season pick up Dexter Fowler sacrificed for Michael Brantley to score the only run of the game. Cleveland wins 1-0.
GAME 2 - Behind the Bats of Michael Bourn and Carlos Santana, the Indians jumped out to a 3-1 lead and put the game away as Ubaldo Jimenez held the Reds to 3 hits and got the win.
GAME 3 - Cleveland Used a Drew Stubbs grand slam and a 2-Run HR from A-Rod to jump out to a 6-3 lead before having to hold off a late rally and take the game 8-6.
GAME 4 - In the potential sweep game, Cleveland looked sluggish as they trailed 2-1 going into the sixth inning. With one swing of the bat Alex Rodriguez Took the lead back 3-2 with another 2-Run HR. The Reds tied the game in the 8th inning on a Hanigan RBI Single but it wouldn't be enough. Asdrubal Cabrera hit a 423 ft bomb to deep right field as the fans erupted in the bottom of the 8th. Reliever Bryan Shaw came in and finished the job and the Indians won 7-3 to take their first World Series title since 1948.
League Leaders
AVG - Billy Butler, 1B - .357
HR - Pujols/Fielder - 47
Wins - Jason Vargas (Angels) - 20

As a team we ripped the cover off the ball as well with a team AVG of .262 and over 30 HRs from four players -
Jason Kipnis - .303, 32 HRs, 100 RBI (Silver Slugger Award)
Nick Swisher - .294, 35 HRs, 113 RBI (World Series MVP)
Alex Rodriguez - .274, 34 HRs, 95 RBI (Entered 3000 Hit Club, Now Has 681 Career HRs)
Jim Thome - .254, 36 HRs, 90 RBI
OTHER Notable performers on the season -
Bobby Brock, LF - The rookie acquired from the Yankees in the early season A-Rod trade came in second place for ROY voting (he got screwed out of it) with a .293 Avg, 16 HRs and 44 RBI.
Asdrubal Cabrera, SS - He had a solid year once again with 16 HRs while batting .271 in the regular season with 84 RBI... But his real performance was in earning the Playoff MVP with a .327 AVG, 2 HR and 11 RBI.
From a pitching perspective, the Tribe were average at best. While Daisuke Matsuzaka started the season 9-0 he ended up falling into a terrible slump after the All Star Break and finished the season 14-11.
Cleveland had four pitchers win 13 or more games.
Matsuzaka - 14-11
Alex Cobb - 13-7
Jimenez - 14-7
Zach McAllister - 14-9
2014 will be a season in flux as the Tribe attempt to keep some of their biggest pieces in place and try to sign some big names to their pitching staff.Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Indians Off-Season Moves (The Big Ones Anyway)
Re-Sign -
Jason Kipnis, 2B - 5 Year/25 Million - Kipnis is a fan favorite that blew up after a slow start in 2013. He has earned every bit of this contract renewal.
Bobby Brock, LF - 6 Year/9 Million - Brock should have won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2013 but he will settle for a nice deal to stay and prove himself further.
Chase Noonan, RF - 4 Year/3.2 Million - Acquired in the A-Rod Trade, Noonan is looking like a possible candidate to win the ROY in 2014. While he is 20 years old he has amazing potential and looks to be on his way to stardom.
Lance Pryor, 3B - 5 Year/700k - Pryor was the first round pick of the Indians in 2013 and could potentially replace A-Rod in the next two years if he performs as he is expected to. At 6'3" 215lbs with a great power stroke and only 19 years old... He might be the next Bryce Harper... Unless Noonan takes that honor.
Adam Eaton, CF - 2 Year/900k - Eaton had some clutch moments in 2013 after coming to the Indians but suffered to be a rather streaky batter. The Indians are going to have an opportunity to see how he performs this spring. He might be a piece of trade bait as well.
Carlos Carrasco, SP - 1 Year/486k - Carlos was injured most of 2013 and is hoping to earn a spot in the rotation or possibly as a LR.
---------There were many other re-signed, but those are the big ones----------
FREE AGENTS SIGNED
SP, Roy Halladay - 4 Year/1.39 Million - Halladay is on the downslope of what has been a great career. The Indians are hoping he can come in and rekindle his old style and make a run at another title.
SP, Johan Santana - 4 Year/1.4 Million - Johan is another big name to sign with Cleveland and he could be making the last stop in his career if he doesn't prove to get at least some of his old stuff back.
SS, Derek Jeter - 4 Year/1.11 Million - The storied Yankee and future HOFer signed with the Indians to be their DH as Jim Thome retired after a big year in the twilight of his career. Jeter has lost a step but has been training hard to prove that he is still a force to be respected.
SP, Danny Gesualdo - 5 Year/1.26 Million - The Top-50 Prospect is now a seasoned player looking to get into the bullpen for the Indians this year.
Next update will probably be End of Spring Training....Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Nice updates, Cre8!
On those contracts, are those all per year, or total years and total money over the life of the contract?
If the latter, I'm surprised CLE can afford to pay Kipnis that much dough.
Having played against the Tribe, I'll say that Kipnis always impressed me. I'm not sure what his power ratings are, but he usually tattooed the ball, so I started to pitch around him.
Funny that you signed Jeter--in my franchise he just went yard on me and I about crapped my pants. I didn't know he could still hit a HR, lol.
It looks like you're okay overall with giving out multi-year contracts to older players. How does that pan out? I'm very nervous about that since I don't have the payroll to cut players a year or two out if they decline markedly. I'd love to hear your thoughts there.
Nice job bringing a championship to Cleveland! Hopefully that helps take away some of the sting from The Drive and LebronComment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
2014 NY Yankees Roster breakdown.
CF. Brett Gardner.
Gardner was rewarded with a new 4 yr contract based on his 2013 performance. He hit .285, 9 HRs, 43 RBI's and also laid down the sac bunt when his team needed.
SS. Hanley Ramirez.
Acquired via 7 player trade. Yankees gave up C. Granderson, A. rod, and 3 prospects. Ramirez only has 1 yr left on his contract and has fans wondering if the value given was worth it. the upside to the trade was it allowed Eduardo Nunez one year in triple a to polish his fielding woes.
2B. Robinson Cano.
Rejoice Yankee fans. He's back.
1B. Mark Teixeira.
4 yrs remaining on his deal, Tex returns to solidify his clean up spot. He battled injuries in 2013 but still posted a .253 with 24 HRs, 58 RBI's. (403 ABs).
3B. Mark Reynolds.
Acquired via Free Agency. Yankees may have taken a chance giving him a 3 yr deal, but they looked to strengthen their defense on the left side as it was a big cause for concern last year, eventually leading to them being swept by the Oakland Athletics.
LF. Carlos Beltran
Acquired via Free Agency. Certainly being over paid for a one yr rental, but the Yankees are hoping that within that time line it allows for Heathcott, Almonte, or Flores to be MLB ready by next spring.
DH. Jeter / Youk.
Jeter returns but his liability on defense has him running DH spot with limited fielding time. It's a role the Yankee captain excepts as he understands what needs to be done to win. Youk was rewarded with a 1 yr deal, he hit .240 with 15 HR and 49 RBI's but shined in the post season. Yankees have verbally agreed to an extension if criteria of performance is met.
RF. Ichiro
What can I say. I'm stuck with him till the end of the season. He posted a .257, 6 HR and 36 RBI's last season. He was a no show come the playoffs. An extension is highly unlikely, and could be used as a trading piece if one of the Yankees OF Prospects get the nod.
C. Clint Coulter.
Clint posted a .284 last year with 148 AB's. He was picked up via trade when Romine went on the DL. A surge by Cervelli late in the season had Coulter an after thought come September. Keeping his composure he won the starting role via spring training.
Bench:
Mason Williams.
The time isn't now or never, but the Yankees feel like they could protect him in the MLB at the moment and really give him chances that favor him.
Francisco Cervelli
He received a low ball extension but with the rise of Gary Sanchez, and Raul Sanchez, Cervelli may have to prove his worth to keep on the pin stripes this season.5Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Thanks! Glad you checked it out.

I am actually more excited about the deals I got for some of my prospects like Brock, Noonan and Pryor. They are going to be the cornerstones of this franchise and the next big step I need to make is getting some great pitching.
I am putting a lot of stock into nostalgia with Halladay and Santana... Also just picked up Barry Zito from the bargain bin and moved him to a reliever role if anything.
Also, made a late signing and got SP, Alex Cobb... He was a pain to negotiate with and demanded more money but I am hoping that at 26 years old and 86 OVR he will maybe show why he had such demands.
I have my hopes up for getting Clayton Kershaw next season... Also looking at Brandon McCarthy if he ends up on the market. If I can get Homer Bailey I will look into it, but he isn't on the top of my list.
*looking to make some moves before 2014 starts anyway... Will keep you posted.*Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
haha yeah i probably worded that wrong. I meant the long haul of the season. I only tend to play one season, then i'll do another fantasy draft with another team attempting to get as much of a different team i can and then do a season with them, and so on..

Finally got the Astros into the playoffs. After some good drafts, key trades and a little bit of luck, Houston has made its way into the 2017 ALDS.

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
I'm about 110 games into my Blue Jays season, and was looking forward to playing the Anaheim Angels because of their ballpark. Well...they put up 30 runs on me in a 4 game sweep. Game 1, Vernon Davis 5 RBI and hit for the cycle. Game 2, Trumbo went 3 for 5 and 5 RBI. Game 3, Hamilton has 5 RBI, and in Game 4, Trout goes 5 for 5 with 5 RBI.
They hit 12 HR off me over the 4 games. The middle part of that lineup was unstoppable for me. Anyone else struggle like h*ll against this team?Last edited by BigWilly; 07-29-2013, 09:26 AM.Comment
