Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Am now playing my first playoff game in year 2 of my Franchise. I'm the Phillies, and we nabbed a WC spot against Arizona. Hamels v Kennedy.
The presentation is AWESOME, and I'm really glad I resisted the temptation to try out playoff mode.Writer for Operation Sports

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
White Sox Franchise, opening day, Kansas City Royals vs White Sox, James Sheilds pitching for KC and in the 7th inning I look at his pitch count and it's at 110, figured they'd take him out. 9th inning comes around, Sheilds still in, finishes the game with 157 pitches in the game!! Wow!!!!! Never seen anyone go past 110 or so!Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
I'm working with the Dodgers and am something like 15-10.
More details later, but I just have to share the fact that I stole a base with Skip Schumaker, with all of his 37 speed! I think I got a curve that hit the ground to give me an extra second. Very proud moment for Skip and his family, and for the Dodgers organization as a whole.
Funny enough, I was trying to hit and run to make up for his lack of speed, but I didn't make contact. That brings me to an issue I'm having: I can NEVER get a hit and run right. It's like I wait for a good hitter's count and the CPU inevitably throws a ball or a pitch I just can't get the bat on. Any tips for how to use this strategy effectively?Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Just threw a NO HITTER with Jeff Samardzija on Opening Day 2014! Should have been perfect game but Ump missed splitter on the corner on 2-2 count. Next pitch just a bit high for ball 4 but got next guy to hit into DP. So 27 up and 27 down. Never so nervous playing a game before lolComment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
I think I just had my greatest team season in the show. Year 5 of houston franchise, fantasy draft on, budgets off, everything else normal, just wanted to have some fun this morning so I did a draft, the team is mostly in tact, I traded all my young pitchers and prospects for better pitchers, so without further adieu, here are my stats.
123-39 42 game lead over oakland who finished 80-82
1. CF Oscar Taveras - .326/42/119
2. 2B Francisco Lindor - .312/15/68
3. SS Troy Tulowitzki - .330/36/134
4. C Buster Posey - .333/32/106 - (acquired in trade for prospects and FA, Jordan Zimmerman)
5. 3B Manny Machado - .315/22/82
6. RF Wil Myers - .291/25/99
7. 1B Freddie Freeman - .272/34/122
8. LF Nick Castellanos - .262/18/79
9. DH Colin Moran - .274/14/62
Pitchers
1. Matt Harvey - 22-5 - 2.90 285 K
2. Clayton Kershaw - 19-5 - 2.61 272 K
3. Felix Hernandez - 19-8 - 2.65 - 228 K
4. Stephen StrasBurg - 20-2 2.26 270 K
5. Pat Corbin - 20-6 3.46 148 K
actually all of those players were traded for, sent kemp and a boatload of prospects and other players for them
MVP
1. Harvey
2. Strasburg
3. Kershaw

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Started a cubs franchise and at the beginning of May the Yankees released A-Rod. I signed him so vitters could go to the minors. First game I play with him In the lineup we go into the bottom of the 10th with two outs against the reds and A-Rod hits a walkoff homerun.Comment

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
Im at June 28 in my Yankees franchise 2 gms ahead of the Red Sox for first in the AL East. Will post stats so far when i have time but noticed that the Angels are riding a 19 game winning streak. When I played them I got swept and they were on an 8 game winning streak. Im curious to see if they would break the A's win streak record.PSN: ckarlic

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread
I've just come to the draft with the Dodgers and am excited to see what we can find.
I really feel like we need new long-term options at nearly every position in the field. The pitching stafs is OK, but I feel like Eithier isn't the future, the 3rd base situation isn't ideal, and 2nd base needs an upgrade.
I haven't followed baseball in a while, but it seems like the Dodgers' farm system is a little light.
Do you guys take C potential players seriously as part of the team's future, or do you see those guys as career minor leaguers who can fill in for injured players?Comment

Ugh, my Nats drop game one of the playoffs 4-0 to the Dodgers. We couldn't buy a hit. Game 2 at LA and Wayde Miley takes a no hitter into the 7th up 4-0 but gives up two. We then give up an unearned run in the 8th on a dropped flyball by Bautista. FF to bottom 9, double and a hit, tied. Bottom ten, double, hit, game, down 2-0 heading back to Washington. Total frustration!

The Nats are swept games to none as we get demolished 8-2 in game three. No hitting or pitching when we needed it. On to the off-season.

Damn dude--did Harper and Strasburg disappear? That's a team that I could see doing some real damage in the post-season.Comment
