I get your frustration, I really do. To me it wouldn't matter but I understand wanting your real guy in there. I wish we had a manager editor so you could make Francona yourself.
Anyway, Russ didn't say if he was going to be added in or not because, quite frankly, they probably don't know if he will or not. As was said in a previous post, they did not have permission to use Francona. If they get permission and it isn't too much of a chore for the team to do it, they'll probably add him in. Remember these guys are fans of the game just as much as we are and they probably want to have an accurate experience too. The fact of the matter is though, due to licensing etc, they can only do what they are told they can do.
Players and managers can opt out of the associations which would make this harder to have the players and managers we want in the game. Remember Bonds in video games? You don't because he opted out and no one wanted to pay his fees to put him in.
The developers have to "speak in riddles" many times because if the come out and say "NO" then fans will get po'd but if they say "we'll try to add him in later" then fans will take that as "THEY SAID THEY'D ADD HIM, WHY ISN'T HE IN THE GAME?!" Its really tough dealing with consumers and especially dealing directly with them which is why most developers don't do it...these guys are awesome and treat us good though, which is why 2-3 of them are on these boards directly talking to us instead of just some community manager who doesn't work on the game and only relays our requests.
Again though, I feel your pain but honestly, other than a 2 second cut-shot of the manager every other game, what does him not being in there change?
