    Re: Change New RTTS Presentation

The new fielding view was hard at first but have gotten the hang of it and its pretty cool. BUT..... If your going to make it more first person, thus eliminating commentary, fine, but you better add more on the field sounds for my player to hear. I hit a homerun, guess what I hear from my player waiting at home plate....... Oh nothing, hmmm maybe he doesnt like me that much. My teammates in the dugout are avoiding me (hit first hr) ohhh maybe I will hear them all get up and congratulate me ...... Nope no sounds at all and there is many more on the field sounds that arent there, which if commentary is taken out, NEED to be there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and just thought I'd ask, doesn't everyone hate the commentary? Now they take it away for a mode that is trying to make you feel like you are in real life and you complain? People are funny.
Unless you go through each person in this thread and find where the people in this thread complained about commentary, you don't have a point. I want better commentary, but I haven't ever complained about it. I can't prove it, but with how RTTS games are played, I'm guessing most of us were not complainers about the commentary.

I typically play with the sound off while I listen to music or podcasts, so this doesn't really affect me. That said, I wish they'd have given the option to keep it like it was for those who want commentary.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

And yet they included the random HR commentary, base hit commentary, steal commentary, pitching change commentary, the pre-game commentary, the mid inning commentary, the great diving play commentary, injury commentary, booth review commentary and the milestones commentary all while you're on deck, on the field or on base. I guess we do have little radios and earbuds.

There's no debate as to which is better as it's subjective. What I want is an option. I can't see why they would want to lock it down. It's like going to the ice cream shop and asking for vanilla and told it was replaced by chocolate because "everyone will like it better".

The "for the most part" is what gets me. If they wanted a complete "in the game experience", why would they just eliminate half the commentary?

Well said. I was excited and looking forward to the new RTTS when I saw this change in the blog, but I thought more on the field sounds were added to balance the lack of commentary. It doesn't appear that is so.

When I watch a game and a player is on first or third, there is always communication between the player and the base coach. In RTTS, silence. There is no talk between opposing players. No talk between players and coaches. No talk between teammates. Only a few generic sounds saying something like "come on guys, lets go."

Off the field sounds are no better. I'm only in AA, but the crowd is very quiet and the PA and stadium music are also quiet.

Lack of commentary, limited on the field sound, and limited off the field sound make the presentation in RTTS lackluster imo. I feel this could have been implemented much better than it was, to truly make us feel like we are out on the baseball field. Hopefully next year more attention will be placed on this issue.

The more I play it the more I am starting to appreciate it. If any of you have ever play organized baseball at a decent level you should appreciate a guy yelling "me me me" or "ball ball ball" while calling a guy off or pointing out where the ball is.

I don't like not seeing my stats plastered all over the place but can definitely appreciate the natural ambiance brought to the game.

I think as time goes on everyone will start to like it, at least I did anyways.

I beginning to believe RTTS is kinda like beer, at first you didn't like it but the more you tasted it the better you liked it, so to me it's kinda like an acquired taste

As has been said, in years past, if I wanted to get rid of the commentary, all I had to do was turn the sliders down. I appreciate what they tried to do, but the mode now feels flat and boring. We should have been given a choice.

What I don't like even more is the constant transition from crystal clear sound to it sounding like it's in a tunnel. Someone described it right when they said "1970's radio". I always use headphones with the game, and between the "whooooosh" and constant transitions of audio quality, it's almost unbearable.

I've also noticed that I can barely hear my walkup music and my custom stadium music effects. I had no problems with any of that last year. I have to basically put everything else at 50% to hear it.

By the way, what was the point of adding the new walkup choices when all we can see is the back of our player at the plate? And even though I have chosen to wear my sunglasses "always", I've only seen them make an appearance one time so far.... and I've played plenty of day games.
The WHOOOOOSH and flying camera are making this mode unbearable to me, and RTTS is the only reason I buy this game. If the direction was to make this mode more immersive and feel like you are a ball player ON the field, why in the world would you add an arcadey flying camera zooming in and out of every appearance accompanied by an insanely loud WHOOOSH sound effect?

This really surprised me from SCEA, I am beginning to regret trading in 12 when i picked up 13. The camera should be with the player on the field at all time, no? I would love the field view of my player trotting to the dugout at the end of an inning, where I get a chance to look into the crowd etc. that makes me feel like an actual ballplayer, not swooping away from my player and constantly reminding me this is a video game.

on the plus side, thank you for FIELDING RESULT. this is something I really wanted and love it, except after every play the screen flashes white, then you are in a camera zoomed closer to your player, then it cuts again to the regular camera behind your player. is this a bug? two transitions after every play is jarring and takes you out of the immersion also.

at the very least, can SCEA pleeeeeease look into removing the WHOOSH sound from the camera zoom transitions? or add an option to turn it off? its like when fox sports was adding sound effects to their football highlights, oh man that was brutal and made them the laughingstock of sports coverage (of course they still have scooter, dancing robots, and animated snowfall on scorebugs so...)

I love the new presentation. It's easily the best change in the game for me. I love being able to hear my first base coach telling me to go for two. The atmosphere is awesome.

All I see from this mode is a dangerous precedent set by the developers, as if they said "hey you know what guys, people are constantly telling us we need to work on the audio for this game, BUT I have an idea. Maybe we can just slowly start taking out all the audio, and just put in repetitive, boring, on field sounds!"

I honestly don't ever see the developers admitting that this is a step in the wrong direction. They gutted one of their best modes by taking out audio, and giving us awkward game angles that serve to hide some of e new features (walk up.)

I propose that if the developers are so confident in their belief that the people that love this new form of RTTS are just not being as vocal as those that don't, then they should put it up to a vote. A sticky thread at the top of the forum, no comments allowed, just a poll. Do you like it? Do you hate it?

Jesus not even one whole day with the game and some are already scrambling to go back to last years ways, come on now. Give it a week and you'll probably start to like it. I think it's way better, makes me feel like I'm actually playing in the game.

I agree! I understand that it is a change to people, and probably just kind of a shock to the system, but thats because it has been that way since day 1 of RTTS. For those who don't like it, you will probably get used to it, and maybe even learn to enjoy it more.

The problem is even if 75% of the people here said they prefer the old style, we represent a small portion of the market.

As with any big change, Im sure it'll improve in phases and I like the idea of where it's going.... RTTS should be a different expierence than just playing regular games and that's what it seems like they're going for.
