Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
I really wish they would stop adding new features to the game and just make everything already in it perfected.
I've read how Justin Smoak, Dustin Ackley and Montereo get to 90-95 ratings, that seems really bad to me. Am I imagining things or is franchise broken? It sounds broken to me but I havent played yet, I cant imagine having fun past Year 1 if 1/4 of the league is rated 90+. We figured out a way to fix the regression partially but what about the progression?
What are you guys seeing in Years 2+ after simming is there too many highly rated players flooding the game?Comment

When I simmed a couple of years it didn't look bad to me. Prospects with high potential who did well ended up good in the game.I really wish they would stop adding new features to the game and just make everything already in it perfected.

Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
This. I like that even after a good season an older player's rating will drop. Sort of like hitting a wall which happens a lotI'm assuming that even at a 73 ovr, a 38 year old David Ortiz will be plenty serviceable. That upcoming season will be the year Ortiz sees a drop-off in his performance, and from that point he can retire at 39 years old or keep playing and be a shell of his former self. It's harsh considering the season he was coming off of, but it's not unrealistic.
It's a far from perfect system currently. But I would rather have it be the way it is now than having a franchise cluttered with 35-40 year old All-Stars.Comment

Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
Remember last year how players were retiring. Mo...Jeter...A-Rod. I haven't heard of this yet. The rating decline fast but it is better then them retiring after a good season...right?
It is odd that Halladay, Jeter and others are FA after the 1st season willing to sign for under 1 million.Comment

Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
I know that, but if they won't patch anything maybe will at least make them tweaking the player regression system a bit for next years version. How knows..
What i wanted to ask, I'm sorry if it has been mentioned, at which age exactly do player ratings start to decline? I read somewhere that it starts when they turn 33, is that true? And are there ANY exceptions to this (some player regress with 30, others start with 35..)?Spending time with Jesus!

Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
I have no problem with the huge regressions but there needs to be mire randomization to it. Right now pretty much every player over 35 drops 15-20 points during year 1. Why would anyine ever sign an older playet when its certain they will tank.Comment

Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
What I don't understand is why this occurs after spring training. I mean, if you factor in real life as well as how progression has worked in years past, it always occurs before spring training. It doesn't make much sense, to me at least, to have a progression effect after spring training rather than before.
I haven't messed with franchise too much this year but maybe there's two progression phases. Is there progression at the end of the season AND at the end of spring training? If so, that would suck as you could have (for example) a player regress 10 pts at the end of the season and another 10 after spring training. If that's the case then I would suggest the devs disable the spring training regression.
Also, it's odd that if you skip spring training then the regression doesn't happen. How can the devs call it a "feature" but by skipping spring training it skips the progression effect. If it's going to occur it should occur regardless of whether or not you skip spring training. It may not be a bug, but that makes it feel like one.Comment

No, only in the spring and during the season. I agree that it is odd that nothing happens if you skip spring training, if it was truly intentional it would happen regardless...What I don't understand is why this occurs after spring training. Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
What is jeters ovl after simming spring then the regular season? I skip spring training and he always finishes the season at 70-71. Is his ovl lower or does the system just regress him all at once in the beginning?Comment

Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
He's consistently in the low 60's for me... Its a two step process: -15 across the board in the spring, -5 throughout the season. Mo lost 25 points across the board in the first year of my test franchise.Bakin' soda, I got bakin' sodaComment

Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
What is his DUR prior to the change? I imagine that because he's been recently injured his durability is low. I wonder if DUR drops as player get older and that makes it more likely for them to decline.
Just a thought. The Giants are number 1! Everyone else is second or lower....Comment

Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
So they get whacked twice? I am liking the progression/regression. Maybe not as extreme, I'm wondering if it is tiered? 35 hit, 36 bigger etc...
Good thing about progression is there is not a flood of 99's in the league. I am in 2018 and there is 15 (99) players actually 2 less than the beginning.
There needs to be more higher rated RP with decent potential in the draft though, The league has almost no relief pitchers on a ML squad in the future.Comment

Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
Its 97 in the default roster so I don't think its that, that would be a good idea though...Bakin' soda, I got bakin' sodaComment
