Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
While he did say it was by design, I personally would like a little more clarification. I'd be pretty surprised if their intention was to drastically reduce ratings of all players over a specific age in spring training. It just doesn't seem like something they would have intended to happen...but maybe it is.
I'm glad there's a workaround anyway, but having to choose between seeing spring training stats or having blanket rating reductions for older players isn't exactly ideal.Comment

If I would have noticed I would have asked, sorry.
Will the progression still happen if you skip or is it all just the same?Comment

Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
Where is the big report site so I can cast my vote? Thanks for the heads-up. I just went out to the The Show's Bug Report site and voted for Player Progression and Franchise K rates. Both were pretty high up on the list. The stuttering issue was #1 and the status showed as being "In Progress" so it looks like they are paying attention to what is being reported and are trying to fix, or scale back as it relates to the ratings decline.Comment

Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
It may not be a bug, but overwhelmingly 80%+ of people in this thread believe it is a bad design and should be changed. The workaround is not enough as you have to forfeit playing spring training entirely just to be able to use normal ratings. What is the point of rating the players if they automatically dive 20 points for the 2013 season? Do you really think R.A. Dickey is going to be 20 points worse to start this year?
I believe the problem may be tied to player production/stats during spring. The players don't play full games i.e. pitchers pitch 3 innings max a game, position players rotate out. I believe the progression/regression is tied not only to age but also to performance, so the game believes these players are performing way worse then they really are, simply because they aren't getting the full playing time as they would in a regular season game.
One way to make the workaround work for you would be this:
Make a second save of your season. Play spring training in one of the saves however you wish to decide position battles and whatever else you want to decide using the spring training games. Then load the second save, choose to end spring training, adjust your depth charts with the way things went in the first save spring training games, and play ball. This is not ideal but it lets you get a taste of spring training and use it to decide your teams future without suffering from silly and out of place ratings drops.
It doesn't make sense to me to have ratings drops after spring training, then again during the season. This seems like double taxation. I believe everyone would agree ratings should not adjust at the end of ST/begin of season but only during/after regular season.Comment

Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
Stupid question time:
- I realize the drop isn't happening if you End Spring Training...
- And it is if you play the games...
- But what if you sim the games through the spring?
I'm just trying to get an idea of what you can/can't do with ST.#24Comment

In his defense, I answered your question directly in a post you quoted and asked your question again. So not only was it said multiple times prior to you asking the first time, it was answered directly and you asked the same question.
Not trying to be an ***, but it just seems like you're being lazy. Either way, to answer your question (again)....if you SKIP spring training, you will NOT experience the progression/regression.Comment

Then I asked about the bug report link. He was presented with 3 options at that point. Say "hey check out page 2", not reply or go out of his way to be an ***.
Lazy is your perception. One that lead you down the same path as him. Sorry, I'm new. I've been a member but I rarely come here unless I purchase a sports game, at that point I do stop by for a bit.

Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
Progression and regression are the same thing, in opposite directions. I'm quite sure they both work in the same way, so if one isn't happening the other won't either. So yes, by skipping spring you won't see progression or regression...at least not as severely as if you simmed/played the games. I can't confirm this 100%, but I'm fairly certain.Your post to mine mentioned the regression. I asked again about the progression....Different question.

Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline
I have used espn.com and knight's ratings scale to re-rate every mlb pitcher with a decent amount of innings pitched. I have those ratings and I am going to input them into OSFM V3 after Sean Jeezy gives all mlb pitchers their correct repertoire of pitches. I am also editing the control for each players pitches. I also have a great slider set I have been using for the last 3 years on Veteran level the past 2 years and All-Star level this year.
Once I have finished my ratings edits by mid-May (hopefully), then the Community will have the perfect roster set with accurate game play stats and simulation stats.
We know this game is great and hyped every year, but there are always too many bugs and the ratings we get from SCEA are not really that decent or serviceable.
Thanks Guys.Last edited by vcu9; 03-08-2013, 12:25 AM.Comment
