I haven't read the whole thread so I'm not sure if this has been mentioned.

In RTTS, when you do batting training, the first pitch is always a FB right down the middle. Even if it's pitch recognition training where they specifically tell you the pitch will be somewhere like low and inside.

whoa... Thanks for that, because if this is true, this almost definitively confirms that it's an actual bug.

Yeah, I've mentioned this way back. Go into batting practice even and the first pitch is always, a meatball.

I also confirm that the first pitch in any batting practice mode is fastball (or primary pitch? didn't check with someone with something else) down the middle, regardless of difficulty level... you can easily check this by switching practice modes and changing difficulty within practice.

... and then went back with a couple innings of exhibition game, and but there I cannot reproduce the issues some of you guys are having (i.e., they pitch realistically). I still get the variety of first pitches that I have always been getting.

so I still don't know what makes us different in this issue. But it's worth reporting so guys having the issue should update the bug report with what we learned so far, to help the devs hunt this down.

This is insanely strange.

Have any of you meatball guys tried changing the difficulty level yet? mid-game?

Because I haven't really noticed any more meatballs since, and I played a game last night afterwards. I'm about to play a game right now too (probably), so I will look.

I have numerous times, it didn't make a difference in exhibition for me.

I just posted a bug report with the bug, the workaround and the URL of this thread. Its bug report 10922. If you guys can hammer it with plusses, maybe it will stick out. If any CD guys visit this thread, perhaps you could fast-track it to their attention.

This is one of the reasons I'm always scared to come onto the forums after release day. Chances are I would have never, in a million years, noticed this. But now I do.

I have experienced this also, in RTTS like I stated earlier in my post. I am still experiencing it now after playing on HOF for a couple months, I hope they can fix this in a patch, cause clearly it is a bug

I'm not getting the calling time thing to work. I called time after the pitch select faded for each first pitch of an inning, and still saw about 80% meatballs. Who knows, it was just one game.

Depends what league your in prolly. I tested it on my RTTS guy that was in MLB and never got a meat ball BUT cause they found this i started a new RTTS and in AA i still got couple but im assuming thats cause AA suck lol

Strangely enough though, when you go into batting practice mode "good at bats", they will mix it up if you hurt them with a first pitch swing.

But only in the very first at bat after changing to that practice mode, the problem occurs right?

It's always the first pitch in every BP mode, I'm 100% confident there. In good at bat mode the very first pitch in the very first at bat is always a strike down the middle, then it varies somewhat, I won't go any further than that until I get some solid evidence. Once I get a chance today, I'll start recording each at bat in good at bat mode. The first round I won't swing at all at the first pitch then record the reactions, the next round I'll swing at the first pitch thrown and then record that, from there I'll try different things to see what happens, recording all of the way. For several years I was a beta tester for OOTP, so I have an idea of how to data collect and most of all I know not to overreact and let emotion interfere. I'll post back later with the results once I get some time to play.

Even though I see this...I'm still enjoying the hell out of this game. I'm playing on all star default and in postseason mode and I have had very exciting games. After a while I don't even think about it and am having fun.
