I think the hitting is pretty fair. So far I've played an ALDS Series that went 5 games. I won games 1 and 2 by a close score, I lost games 3 and 4 by 1 run, and game 5 I won by blow out. So in 5 games there, that's a very good variety of results and seems pretty fair.
I didn't change the pitch speed. Pitch speed on default is perfect for me. My first game I lost to the Phillies 5-3. But that was trying to get my feel for The Show back. Then I started my franchise. I beat the Tigers 19-2 in a homerun derby type of game. Edited my sliders and the next 2 games were very realistic. I beat the Tigers 3-1 and then lost 6-5 in 15 innings.

For me I'm early on everything that's because pitch speed is turned down. Gonna just keep playing til I adjust or I may just up the sliders. Prefer to adjust though.
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

question? would hitting on rookie with sliders all the way up still be easier than veteran with the sliders all the way down? on rookie i average about 7 runs a game and on veteran i average maybe one. this is playing with the brewers so i am trying to figure out where to put my sliders

Me too. I love the new hitting engine. I can actually rake now.
Sucking at this game is the reason I didn't buy '11 and '12.

I'm loving '13 so far and it has everything to do with how I can actually hit the ball.
I'm no longer frustrated to the point of nausea.

Have you lowered the pitch speed? I have and it's made a world of difference.

I've upped the slider to 7 and have toyed with putting it at 8. I don't know if I was to "use" to last years game but it seems pitch speed is slower this year. I'm hardly late on anything, even 96 mph fastballs.

I have a question, I use timing hitting on all-star. Since with timing it's just button control and no need to use the analog sticks how is the swing placement determined? Sometimes my swing is nowhere near where it should be and I don't understand why, help would be appreciated.

I do love how the ball reacts off the bat. I do struggle against the better pitchers but not as bad as last year.

What team are you using and what pitchers are you facing? I faced Felix Hernandez last night with Minnesota and only managed 1 run, and it wasn't a homer. The game before I hit one with Adam Dunn and one with Konerko against Lucas Harrell and Houston. This is all on all-star.

I noticed its harder to hit the really good pitchers while the bad pitchers its easy to hit. That makes alot of sense

Are you using guess pitch? Analog and timing? There are more ways to increase difficulty than just the one setting.

It's all statistics-based so the outcome depends on the batter and pitchers attributes.
It's the same if you were to pitch using 'classic' controls. It's all dice rolls behind the scenes.
So there's no way to correct that.
You'd have to move to analog zone-hitting if you wanted full control.

How I have longed for the day that a topic with this title would be in the Show forum. For once, they have actually addressed the problem. There were times in the last iterations of this game where I would have good timing and contact and hit a dribbler up the line. Now, it seems fair and the hit variety is so much better. Thanks SCEA for fixing this!

What has everyone been using for swing options? I know last year if you influenced "up" (fly ball) you hit a LOT more home runs and more line drives over the infielders head into the gaps.

Tried it this year and havn't noticed a difference from regular "X" swings.

                              Anyone?
