What makes you think that? The A.I. can be programmed to make judgement errors on the base paths. Maybe that is what happened. I saw it happen to me while rounding second base and I was impressed. I made the decision to advance to 3rd late and so the reaction was appropriate.

But with two outs and a runner on second, a base hit should have you thinking well past third base. What makes you think that? The A.I. can be programmed to make judgement errors on the base paths. I appreciate the acknowledgement and support for a design decision here, but let's make sure to recognize realities when we see them: runners are slowing around the bags beyond their due, especially the CPU.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
The issues people are bringing up are different for the user team base running and the CPU team. The user base running looks ok to me, I like what they changed, you just have to decide to advance your base earlier people will adjust and its more realistic imo
My isssue is something you cant improve with skill and that is the CPU AI baserunning logic
I could be wrong about this, we all have assumptions on how things work and what we consider to be normal but then we learn what we assumed was wrong so I could be wrong, but seeing a speedy guy not score from 2nd base on a single to the outfield seems wrong to me
another vid
top of the 1st inning
leadoff hitter is on 2nd base, ball is grounded down the 3rd base line into the deeper part of left field, speedy CPU man on 2nd stops at 3rd does not try to score. I feel most of the time he would be waved home, I feel he could have scored standing. This is 1 play but I see it happen very often in the vids im watchingComment

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
Well to me, this one is an issue of default slider settings. Crank up the baserunning speed, slow up the fielder speed, and you'll start to see better results as far as wanting to attempt to score. Given the parameters in this play, it would be stupid to send the runner home. Given the kind of play that it was though, the runner should have scored with ease. The issues people are bringing up are different for the user team base running and the CPU team. However, even with the correct sliders and wanting to send this runner home, if he slows around third base, there's that chance he'll be thrown out.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
I remember it being stated that base running ability would play a role in the momentum based base running. Is everyone running into this with runners with low base running ability, has anyone seen it with someone who has a high rating?Comment

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
This happened to me last night with BJ Upton. He should have scored easy was thrown out at home. I watch the replay and he took a horrible angle and slowed up for some reason when he rounded third. I play with AUTO baserunning.YNWAComment

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
So it impresses you when they make the game look unrealistic in order to make it different. What makes you think that? The A.I. can be programmed to make judgement errors on the base paths. The runners isn't just slowing his speed to make the turn or hold up at third. His whole animation is slowing down. He defies the laws of physics and momentum. Its not impressive.Comment

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
It might, but I had it happen with jeter once. His base running shouldn't be too bad..
If it does have to do with ability, its pretty much on par with suction blocking on Madden. They do something unrealistic in order to make it harder.Comment

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
If there was a way to avoid the base runner slowing down at 3rd if you are quick enough to hit L1 to advance him home from 2nd, I would be fine with this. But you can't hit it quickly enough. I just had a base hit where I was jamming L1 before the ball got out of the infield on a seeing eye single...my guy from 2nd did the momentum stop at 3rd and was thrown out at home. Is there a fix to this?Check out my Twitch channel: http://www.twitch.tv/wiser66Comment

Are you holding the L1 button for the entire time you want him running? If there was a way to avoid the base runner slowing down at 3rd if you are quick enough to hit L1 to advance him home from 2nd, I would be fine with this. Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
I know you're not asking me, but I do. Even look at that video of MLB 12 I posted in the impressions thread, and you'll see how quickly I maneuver the controls to select the runner on second base right as the ball is hit.
Me thinketh although there is a new system in place for certain animations to kick in, there are something things that need to be kinked out. I'm not ready to defend the design decision until I'm certain it's working appropriately and exactly as intended.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
Yeah I don't doubt that there's a flaw at all. Just the way he worded his post, I felt like he was misunderstanding the way the baserunning controls work, since it doesn't matter at all how many times you press L1, or how quickly you press it.Comment

Re: Runners slowing down rounding third
Yeah going from 2nd to home is awkward, you kinda gotta hope for a bad throw to score. Too many left and centerfielders getting the ball to the plate with plenty of time to spare. I am noticing a slow down even when rounding the base. It is worse when the take the bad turn. But guys are slowing up on a good turn around 3rd too.Comment
