What's say we think outside the box a little and go back to the days of 2K5 football.

ESPN NFL 2K5 featured the voices of Terry McGovern as play-by-play announcer Dan Stevens, Jay Styne as color commentator Peter O'Keefe.

Those guys were fantastic. They were spot on, lively, and funny.

Also, I don't understand why people say having the same play by play guy in the game for so long is getting old, while teams in real life have guys 20+ years in the booth?

Really hard to have pure baseball commentary in games. Just be glad we arent stuck with Joe Buck

I'm gonna back up Matt V on this one. It's not him that is the problem. It's the lack of commentary in the game that is the problem. Too much dead time. There are sooooo many times when I would sit there and I would think to myself the announcers could be commenting on something right here. Wether it was about the standings on the current season or out of town score board witch they took out this year or something like that. I am just very dissapointed in the way SECA handled the presentation this year.

The reason MLB2k's commentary is better is because they have all that extra space on the disk to record those lines, since they obviously don't use that space to provide a decent baseball game.

Anyway, I like Matty V and if they were to replace him it would have to be a clear upgrade. Who that is, I don't know. Matty V might be one of those guys that you don't know who you got until they're gone. What I'm hoping for when the PS4 comes out is a dual broadcast team. Maybe bring in someone like Joe Buck and Tim McCarver (can't stand Buck) for the playoffs or even limit them to the World Series, all in the name of being authentic. That way you don't need to give them a ton of lines, instead just World Series anecdotes and some facts about the teams playing.

The game is designed for Xbox 360, which can only utilize so much space in general. It's really hard to say one way or the other.

I personally am not fond of the lines that are recorded with specific intent, unless it can be stitched in with whatever necessary parts of speech (like my previous example). But hearing something about a rivalry or a past injury, unless it's dynamically inserted in, is just a waste of space to me. Doesn't matter the game or the commentator. If they can find a way to do that with the added dynamics, then all is good in the neighborhood. Otherwise, you're right... waste of space.

Lighten up, fellas! I meant as a joke...at least the first part.

Dynamic announcing is where it's at and I truly think having another broadcasting team for the WS, or even the playoffs as a whole, would be pretty cool. Saying that, that is way down on my list of what a baseball needs, and it's certainly not tops on my wishlist.

I like Matty V and the team they have right now, it's sufficient. Personally, I don't play the game to listen to the commentary, and if I get bored of it, I turn it off. I understand others like a more dynamic broadcasting experience, which is cool with me, but I certainly don't mind just hearing the natural sounds of the game as if I'm at the ballpark myself.

I don't want Matty to go away, but I would like to see him get a break
from carrying the load for a couple years & have SCEA move him to color, then bring him back & BAM! he's fresh again.

He's not, but a lot of video games find themselves in the "reading from a script" sound. Listen to his live broadcast from earlier today, and you'll see what I mean. Poor example, but I was just subbing a high school drama class the other week and listening to their rehearsed skits for whatever it was, and it's funny how people turn off from "natural" when they're acting out from a script. I'm not saying Vasgersian sounds unnatural, but he is different on television than he is in the game.

Just like Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow. If you love them in video game form, then wow... you'll be gaga over them in real life, because I hate them in MVP and they are my favorite commentating duo in real life. I don't know what it is about video games that don't seem to get the natural sound out of these guys, but I think they can do better. I think Gary Thorne does it right; Kruk and Phillips sound good, but also sound produced IMO.

That's just silly. The Show uses about 23 gigs of space, or roughly half of the capacity of what a blu ray dual layer disc has.

To me, Matt Vasgersian in the voice of baseball. To lose him would be losing a big reason why this game is so awesome. Any video game commentary is going to be repetitive and stale no matter who's voice it is, so why not keep the man who's voice is synonymous with baseball?

Joe Buck is TERRIBLE. Whoever suggested he should replace Matt Vasgersian needs to shake themselves.
