    Re: Destined to lose?

It's baseball. This stuff happens all of the time through out a season, practically every day.

The official website of the Colorado Rockies with the most up-to-date information on news, tickets, schedule, stadium, roster, rumors, scores, and stats.

Take a look at that box score. 4-1, then 4 errors in one inning to make it 4-4, then 5-4, then a grand slam by a player who isn't an every day starter to make it 9-5, then another HR the next inning to make it 10-5..... THEN THE COMEBACK CODE
The Giants scored 3 runs in the 7th inning... one of those runs was off of an outfielder misjudging a fairly routine fly ball to end the inning.

Yes querky things happen in the game. But they happen all of the time in baseball. If you don't like it or think it's rigged, then actually watch baseball and learn to like it.... or just stop playing the game.

EDIT: I should add that the player who hit the grand slam was Jordan Pacheco, who has an under 40 power rating in the game and that was actually only his 8th career home run.

It's no secret. It has been implemented to facilitate the transition to PS4.

You know scripted comeback was implemented recently in MLB right??? All these games are fixed, and players are just acting. It's one of those thing Bud Selig has done to make the game interesting, to bring the sport back on top of the food chain over NFL.

But we are talking about a video game here. It doesn't work like real life... after all, it's a game.

I knew something fishy was going on in this Orioles-Rays series!

          Re: Destined to lose?

I think that momentum definitely goes both ways. I've had plenty of times where I get some lucky hits and timely errors from the CPU to aid my comeback effort. The flipside is that the CPU will get those same timely errors and lucky hits in another game.

People will be estatic when they complete a big comeback and chalk it up to clutchness. When the computer does it, it's because there's a comeback code in the game

Well, attribute that to humans not believing in their own "human error"

                    Re: Destined to lose?

Okay, this is not actually a "Destined to Lose" entry, but something VERY odd happened last night, and this seemed an appropriate spot without starting a new thread.

Red Sox Season, and Ellsbury is off to a killer start. Hitting the cover off the ball, and playing great for my Cyber team. As the team heads to Cleveland for the first game of a three game series, Ells singles on the second pitch of the game, and after Victorino grounds into the 4-6-3 double play, I see that Ells is injured on the slide. As it turns out, I have to leave for real baseball practice, so I quit the game, and see that Ells broke his ankle, and is out 2-3 months. Well, no need to save that game, (yeah, it's lame, but whatever) so later on, after the kids are in bed, I fire up game one again.

This time, Ells makes it to the 6th inning, before running down a fairly easy fly ball in center field, and I see the injury animation as he sits on the ground holding a leg/knee. Ahh... this time it is his ACL, and he is done for the year.

Once again, I refuse to save the game (extra super lame, I know) and immediately set up yet another game at Cleveland. This time, I sit Ellsbury, and run Jackie Bradley Junior out there, called up after Daniel Nava had some hamstring troubles.

I am behind 5-4 going into the top of the ninth and get a lead off single with Mike Carp, who I immediately replace on the base paths with fleet-footed.... you guessed it, Jacoby Ellsbury.

Ells steals on the first pitch, and is injured. After the game, I see that it is a broken bone in his wrist.

So, while the game may not push you towards a destination of losing, and it is probably ALL coincidence... It is very odd that in three games, against the same team, with no signs of playing him when he was sore, tired or otherwise out of energy, the game decided that Ells was destined for the DL.

                    Very, very odd.

I don't think it's coincidence, I do think it's by design. When Kershaw pitches for me, there is always that rather strange fielding play allowing someone to get on base, Sometimes I feel like I'm playing out a script, like certain batters are supposed to get a hit, and if they don't get the pitch, they get a walk because pitches are not going to where he could get a hit.

Now I am not in any way saying destined to lose, not at all. However, just like your situation where Ellsbury is destined to be injured, destiny is already determined.

                        Re: Destined to lose?

Playing Diamond Dynasty with no sliders. MADDENING.

Im tryin to feel this mode out and put a quality product on the field. When you have a winning streak going JUST LOSE.

1st 3ip vs Jared weaver all end in ground balls cept 1 I said 8 ground balls then popped one up foul to 1st basemen. 2 double plays in 3ip. I only chased 2 pitches out of the zone until 5th when I turned the controller over. They were both fouls.

Next game. 2 double plays in 3ip. FmL

Not Exaggerating. 26 fouled pitches in 4ip vs Indians.

I came to the conclusion you can't compete unless you have all star pitching. Not really tho. You just have to follow the script...
I play MLB exclusively with my cousin. Usually looking for info on Franchises. We played minor league baseball as 9-10 YOs on the Zephyrs.

I don't appreciate my comeback wins either. I called it yesterday I prolly jus win in the bottom of the inning. I go up swinging first pitch to end game and get 3 singles for a comeback win. C'mon man.

It seems a bit overdone this year. I saw many complaints about this last year as well, but apparently the developers disagreed and made it even more blatant.

What's the incentive for them to put in a "script"?
