Re: MLB 14 The Show Wishlist

My wish for MLB 14 is a correct version of Busch stadium's left field wall, in 2010 the wall was right but after that its always been wrong not having the picture of retired numbers and players on the wall in a washed out greenish and red color, instead having current players on it in full colors on it. I might have missed a thread discussing this but did SCEA do this on purpose because of not having the HOF license or is it because Busch stadium has changed the wall a couple of times since 2010 and SCEA didn't have the pictures of it? either way if it has something to do with the HOF licensing, and SCEA has to use current players on the wall I wish they would at least color match the current player pictures on the wall to the real wall instead of having them in full color.

I don't think they need to adhere to the Study Guide since 2K dropped their POS series.

Pretty sure they still need to follow it. SCEA doesn't have the exclusive license 2K had.

Wouldn't be so sure, based on the teaser trailer from November, a Nat's pitcher is clearly seen wearing red long sleeves in a road game, something that never happened in previous games. Washington players have always been seen with blue long sleeves on the road. Unless Washington has upgraded their style guide...

It's not just a deviation from the topic your picture violated the TOS and this conversation needs to not be brought up again by anyone....

Re: MLB 14 The Show Wishlist

About a page or so back I posted some of my wishes/hopes for MLB '14 and in that post I stated that I hoped for better hit variety. I realize that MLB '13 had probably the best variety the game has ever had and was a big improvement over '12 due to the better ball physics. This may be my number one wish for the next installment of this game...

I see too many balls hit directly at fielders. I'm hitting .230 with Dustin Pedroia (just played my September 1st game today- I play all of my games and almost always just stick with the regular/default swing type) and it's not for a lack of solid contact. I absolutely rake when it comes to Pedroia but for whatever reason, (lack of hit variety? bad luck?) I always seem to hit line drives right at people for an out. The power numbers are there though. 18 homers and 83 runs batter in. I'm not expecting to hit north of .400 or anything as I realize that this is a simulation, but .230? Ortiz is hitting .250 with 28 homers and 81 RBIs. So, again, power numbers are there but there's a lack of "other" types of hits.

This is where I believe the Show needs to improve. I've had games where it seemed as though the pitcher was getting rewarded for throwing meatballs right down the pipe as I hit lazers right at their fielders. Games where I've won with a score of 4-2 with 4 solo homeruns. The Show can seem like it's homerun or bust at times.

I'd also like to see a slider for the timing window. I never had an issue with inside fastballs getting on me in the past. It was always more of a chore to sit back on an offspeed pitch than it was to turn on a 95 mph fastball middle in. The opened timing window has made hitting those offspeed pitches that much more difficult... and my pitch speed slider is maxed out.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Wishlist

One thing I'd like to see in dynasty mode, depending on what kind of throwbacks are available, I'd like to see the option of seeing what team logos get displayed in franchise mode. If the blue Jays 90's throwbacks are in the game, and I always wear them in games instead of the regular jerseys, I'd like the option of displaying the "throwback logo" instead of the standard one.

They still have to follow the style guide. The Nats might have updated theirs, but they don't have an exclusive license so they are bound by the guide.

Id like the arbitration process...like going to arbitration, have a slight negitive affect on the player club relationship..have there be an incentive to avoid arbitration for both team and player...just my die hard wish after todays many signings lol.

                      My wish list:

Franchise: More depth to scouting and reports. I like the change that they made last year but I would still also like to see some verbal information as well ( like two years ago) not just numbers. Maybe being able to run players through drills to unlock data or actually watching/playing highschool/college games to learn more about them.

More added to the training aspect. Rather than just picking where to upgrade in, make the user go in the cage, to the mound, the field, etc. to either give one individual player a boost or everyone at his position one. Make us earn it.

Gameplay: More fielding animations. Well, more animations everywhere. There should be more than 1 or 2 ways to jump/dive for a fly ball/ground ball.... Oh and injury animations please!!! It's really sad that every time a position player goes down it's that, "he tried to play through the leg injury" bit.

Fully playable single A minor league system.

Fully functioning retractable roofs and more realistic temps.

Obviously too late for this year but it would be nice if on updated or created rosters you could put in any stats you wanted. When a batter or pitcher is highlighted it would be a plus to have your own stats show instead of 0 or the stats from the year the game itself was created.

Kind of wish they would bring back the old pregame intros like this video below (3:38 mark) or something similar. I kind of miss the old pregame intros with the stadium over looks and the announcer going through the lineups player by player. Would love to see these things come back. (on all platforms)

Why do people still think that if they have the exclusive license, they can do whatever they want? They are still bound by their agreement with MLB to produce an authentic game. That involves following whatever guide MLB Properties gives them. I think people confuse this because 2k didn't care if they followed the style guide. SCEA is pretty "by the book".

2k didn't have to follow it. They had an exclusive license so they got access to all MLB content which includes all uniforms. Its not thast 2k didn't care they were allowed to do it. There's a big difference in have an exclusive license and being a 3rd party.

The only thing that I've heard to back this up is hearsay. I haven't seen a definitive answer as to why they didn't follow the Style Guide. My best guess is that they just didn't care to follow the letter of the agreement, and MLB knowing that 2k was hanging on by a thread didn't care enough to tell them off (I would almost think that they wouldn't notice stuff like that, but they are pretty tight when it comes to their image; see MLB Advanced Media).

When it comes to this game, SCEA is usually by the book. They rarely deviate from what MLB will tell them to put into the game or to leave out. There have been animations in the past that have mysteriously vanished; that was to MLB wanting it out. That may be part of the reason why that "exclusive" license was third party only (the bigger reason is probably money, but whatever...)
