Re: MLB 14 The Show Wishlist

I'm sure it's been said before in this thread, and I'm sure there's a reason it can't be done, but I can wish anyways:

The ability to keep lineups and rosters the same when simming/leaving spring training to the regular season without 30 team control.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Wishlist

      Wrote this earlier but....

I will also love to see custom schedules and a way to lock your rival games every year. You do not see that in MLB 13 the show. Example: if you are the yankees. You play the Mets for four (or custom schedule six games) every year. I do not see that for 2014 season onwards, it should be a option. Also for interleague it should be on rotation and play different opponents. Also custom schedules will be a great options.

Also I want to see different announce teams.

I want to see also accuweather or weather channel gets involved for game days temperature if needed. make it an option for Fahrenheit or Celsius (for the Canadians out there)

Also make retractable roofs able to open or close plays a big difference in the characteristics in the stadium.

Also this year in 2014 the Sydney Cricket Grounds in Sydney, Australia starts the season between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks. If you are starting the 2014 season it should be added to the schedule and the D'backs as the home team. 79 games in Chase Field and 2 in Sydney.

Multiple announcer teams including one in Spanish and local ones if possible.

Up to date standings in Fenway's scoreboard if possible. PS3 and PS4

Ability to crossover in PS3, PS4 or vita for franchise, etc.

Rain-outs and doubleheaders if possible....part of baseball as well. Should be in the game.

Agree there, since I believe its the only game for MLB it will be an interesting option plus most clubs have Spanish language on the radio feed. Thus bringing it up.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to mention this, but hopefully it's not too late to be addressed. This is what the Marlins home run sculpture looks like in its resting, non-moving state:

No idea if it's possible to add water effects, but when the rotating Marlins "dive" into the water, there's a water cannon that fires:

Also, just a minor change: the Marlins bullpens were switched before the start of the 2013 season. The visitors now have the bullpen in left, while the Marlins have the bullpen in right.

And of course...closing/opening retractable roofs (and windows - like the one in left-center!), pleeeeeaase! :]

I actually kinda dig the "Block C Look" though, but yes you are right, it has gotten to the point that it is sickening. Everyone is offended by everything!

I agree opening and closing roofs is a must (tired of playing in Roger Centre with a 20 to 30mph wind blowing out). Another must is getting rid of that awful sculpture in real life! Sorry just saying!

And it's funny because they are still called "Indians".

I mean, if "Indian" is a racist term (unless you're actually in or from India), then changing the logo does...what?

I don't know if this is PC getting out of hand (I mean, would it be right for a team to be named after other racially charged terms), though.

Changing things like taking the "Devil" out of Devil Rays is more inane, imo.

Pretty soon, PETA & The woman's lib movement will get together and the NBA will have to rename the Chicago Bulls the Chicago Cows!
The MLB will eventually have to rename the Pittsburgh Pirates the Pittsburgh Gentlemen LOL
I don't thin the term "Indian" is "Bad" except to the people who want to have something to complain about. I spent a lot of time in the northwest growing up, and when you refer to yourself as "Indian" or any other name "_______" it shouldn't be used as propaganda for P.C. chums.

We are wayyyyyyyyyyy off topic here, but the "Indians" stigma has everything to do with the logo/mascot, and nothing to do with the name. The name by itself is not offensive, by any means. No one has claimed otherwise. But the logo is a caricature of a Native American (N.A.) person. You're calling an inaccurate and stereotypical representation, an "Indian"...

It's a step behind pointing and waving at a N.A. person and "imitating" them with stereotypical things like running in circles and doing that weird yodel thing that was done in old bugs bunny cartoons and such.

N.A. people don't care that a baseball team is named after them, they care that a baseball team is named after them AND continuously suggesting that Native Americans all look and act a certain way.

I dunno if this is possible, but one thing I would love to see is a feature in dynasty mode where you can start a season anywhere up to way back when.

Some more realistic options: Loads of more more throwback jerseys. Since PS4 supposedly can store so much more stuff, they need to fill it up somehow, right?

I haven't bought a game in this series since MLB '09 back on PS2, so if this isn't already in the game already, make the wildcard play-in game optional?

Re: MLB 14 The Show Wishlist

I realize that it's way too late in the development cycle to be asking for any of this, but it's a wish list so I'll just go ahead and wish here. Perhaps some of my wishes will become reality in MLB '14 (I read that baserunning was re-coded for this year's game - so there's one)!

                              Fielding

                              Animations:

1st Base: More stretch, pick, and catch animations. I hate to see nonchalant catches at first on bang bang plays.

3rd Base: More in between animations. Some times a dive is too much and a lunge isn't enough. In a game where animations are heavily relied on, the more the merrier. This could go for any position, but I find myself saying this most about 3b.

Catchers: Better throw animations on plays in front of the plate. Catchers for some reason, do a spin and throw when they don't have to.

Outfielders: Would love to see better dive and jump animations. The dive animation could have a few more steps to it (as in, the fielder lowering their body toward the ground before finally diving). I've always felt like the dives kind of looked like the fielder was tripped by something. Would love to see some full speed dives where the fielder just continues to slide on their stomach for a little bit.

                              Reaction:

Infield: Infielders just feel sluggish in '13. The increased exit speed off the bat has lead to less diving plays, or plays where an infielder can show off their range. Infield was much more fun to play in years past. Honestly if the ball isn't hit right at an infielder, there's not much chance to chase it down and make a play. In my opinion, infield play has become one dimensional. Quicker reactions for infielders would be nice.

Outfield: Outfielders react immediately and charge the ball relentlessly. A slider for outfielder and infielder reactions would be nice.

                              Additional Fielding Wishes

Cut off: Ability to cut off throws to home on the fly, instead of having to decide before you make your throw.

Positioning: Outfielders play too shallow and possibly too close to the lines. I'd love to see a dynamic shifting system put into the game that would take into account a player's spray chart.

Elite Fielders: Sub par fielders still perform like elite fielders and elite fielders still make stupid errors that you wouldn't see them make IRL. I'd like to see a bigger range of defensive players with elite defenders having many more animations available to them.

Hits over the head: On plays where outfielders have the ball hit directly over their head, the ball marker should disappear. If the fielder can't angle back and keep the ball in view, they essentially have to run to where they think it'll land. Basically, if the fielder can't see the ball, the marker should disappear as well, until the fielder turns around. I believe MLB 2k8 had this.

                              Hitting

Hit Variety: Great improvement in '13 but it can improve even more. Rising line drives, top spin liners, more slice, more cut, etc. Defending the outfield is still pretty easy. You don't get burnt too much unless it's a smash into the gap or a homerun.

Follow-Through: More follow-throughs are always welcome in the player editor. I'd also like to see players drop the bat differently on balls hit into play. Left hand discard, right hand discard, 3rd base side, 1st base side, etc.

                              Pitching

Pitch Fx: More accurate pitch repetiors. Not just the pitches that pitcher will throw but the speeds of each pitch. Too many pitchers have 10+ mph difference between fastball and change up. When a pitcher is hitting the corners with a 96 mph fastball and then he drops an 82 mph change up on you, there's no chance.

Depth: It's very hard to pick up on offspeed pitches in the dirt. A curveball that bounces in front of the plate looks like a fastball at the bottom of the strike zone. I'm not sure how this can be improved but low offspeed pitches are very hard to pick up on.

Pitch Speed: The difference between a 94 mph fastball and an 83 mph change up seems like it's much more than just 11 mph. It almost feels like it's 20 mph difference. I'd like to see this difference seem a little more subtle. This coupled with the new timing window makes it very hard to keep any offspeed pitch fair.

Pitch Trajectory: Change ups seem to "float" and curve balls seem to have a lot of "loop" to them. Maybe it's designed that way to distinguish between pitches but, in my opinion, it could be improved and more life-like.. at least on the harder difficulties.

Analog: I have no problem throwing 80% strikes and pitching deep into the game with any pitcher. I feel the problem lies with the corners of the plate on the analog meter. It's a very steep angle to pitch off the plate and very easy to throw anything over the plate. Most of the balls that I do throw are either low or high. Pitching off the plate inside or outside proves to be much more difficult, though not impossible. Maybe bring in the lines on the meter, or a new analog mechanic similar to MLB 2k8 would be awesome.

AI: On harder difficulties, pitchers absolutely pound the strike zone. If you're patient enough, the pitcher will eventually start to throw some balls, but in order to work a walk, you have fight out of an 0-2 hole. This doesn't happen all of the time, as I do see some occasional 4-6 pitch walks, but a good chunk of the walks that I do draw, come after I've been down 0-2. To compound the matter: in order to stay out of these 0-2 holes, you change your strategy to swing early in the count and if you're not getting any hits or runs, the opposing pitcher will throw minimal pitches per inning and last the majority of the game.

                              Baserunning

Slide Animations: Better sliding animations. I hardly see the pop up slide anymore and it seems that no matter the speed of the player, the slide is the same speed for everyone. Ie: David Ortiz and Jacoby Ellsbury have the same momentum for their slide. Just looks that way to me, not actually sure if this is true.

Steal Variety: There seems to be a few scripted steals. High throw, throw that bounces, etc. I would like to see these expanded upon. IE: bad throw in the dirt that middle infielders blocks just to keep from going into outfield.

Momentum: I liked the idea that was implemented in '13 but I feel the execution came up short. The window of opportunity you have to tell your runner on second to go home (after they get their secondary lead) on a base hit is very small. If there's a late signal to advance to the next base, I'd like to see the runner take a wider turn toward the next base.. Thus make his path longer. I've never seen players round bases the way they do in the show.

Control: More control of the sliding. I hate seeing a player that I'm controlling perform a slide that I didn't tell him to do, and as a result, is out.

Running Animation: Much like fielding, I'd like to see an animation where it actually looks like the runner is accelerating toward their top speed. (For reference: Assassin's Creed III and IV both have great run animations)

                              Miscellaneous

Ball Physics 3.0: I've smashed balls down the line that pick up chalk, past a diving corner infielder, only to see the ball not even make it to the corner as the outfielder cuts it off. Couple of issues here: Ball dies on the grass very easily, outfielders have great reactions and possibly play too close to the lines. Ball physics ties into the hit variety as well; so, more slice and cut (on the harder hit balls) and better interaction with different surfaces.

Post Contact: I'd like to see an option for a delay on the camera once contact is made. I believe Pro Yakuu Spirits has something like this, where you see where the ball is hit for a split second before the camera switches to the fielding view.

You are still hitting and pitching with the old camera angles. My God. You have no idea what you are missing.
