Was a bit surprised that Quick Counts can't be used in MLB Live mode.

Re: Quick Count Pitch Counts
Sweet! Classic seemed to fix my K problem!Oh my beloved Classic, why did I ever doubt you?
3 games using Detroit. 6 K's with Verlander, 9 K's with Scherzer, and 8 K's with um...well, I can't remember right not but he was awesome.
Now I did walk 17 batters, but I feel finally like I'm at a great starting point and will tweak sliders if need be!
Best thing is, using Classic with QC's, I was actually beginning to give up realistic hit and runs totals too against the CPU. So it's all perfect now!
Thanks again KTD!!!Comment

Re: Quick Count Pitch Counts
Anyone else see the IGN.com review? They said it's a great series but this year is nothing more than a roster update. No mention of quick count mode. I think they may want to check out the game in more detail before writing a review.Comment

Re: Quick Count Pitch Counts
Do you guys feel like there's slightly too many 3 ball counts being generated? Specifically when pitching with high confidence with a starter?
Man, I wish I have been tracking the overall counts presented because I hate posting stuff about "feelings." Either way, figured I'd put this out there to see what everyone thinks.
I use Classic, which I'm sure doesn't help. So innings 1-4 I'm generally good for a walk or two. But come the 5th inning, or at around 80 pitches, it's almost like around 2/3 of the counts SEEM to start with 3 balls (again, I wish I was writing this stuff down).
So I guess it's two seperate observations. One being 3 ball counts being generated with a good pitcher and high confidence, and the other being the 3 ball counts being generated due to stamina.
But for whatever reason, reliever counts feel right (I hate feelings posts! LOL!).
What do you all think? Or are any of you keeping record of count generation?Last edited by Heroesandvillains; 04-11-2014, 01:37 PM.Comment

Re: Quick Count Pitch Counts
Keep in mind QC's is going to be further tuned in the next update and I am sure some minor things will be addressed.
I have noticed a lot hitting inning 6 and beyond if my pitcher is tired, or is lower rated in the walks allowed department.
Ace pitchers not so much if they are having a great game and are cruising. It really has been a nice variety.
Something to keep an eye on though through an entire season in franchise. At this point I am coming to the end of any hard core testing and starting to settle into just playing the game.
Soon OSFM will be out.......and I will be playing....like everyday!!!!Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Quick Count Pitch Counts
Yeah, I'm happy it's going to be tuned and I'm also happy it doesn't sound like an overhaul. The mode is brilliant, my stats are palatable and my games are exciting and varied.
Last night, however, CC was cruising but through 3.1 (he started the game with full stamina), I had already faced 6 three ball counts. One hit allowed with high confidence coming off a good start.
And I see this a lot.
But to compound the "issue" (it's not really an issue, again, I love the mode and the coding), I knew that come the 5th inning, it was just going to get more prevalent. And it's sort of discouraging.
This isn't a complaint post so don't get me wrong. I'm having the most fun with 14 than any version ever. I just want to see if these observations are only noticed by me, or if I'm way wrong because someone has tracked the count frequency.Comment

Pitching with CC has been 1 great start and two so so starts for me......kinda like how CC was last year. With Verlander......the guy has been sick.
So I think the ratings driven approach coupled with classic pitching are made for QC mode.....it really is brilliant. Now Playing on PS5:

hello hv,
I have tracked over 1,000 Quick Counts and the results are pretty bad. After a Quick Count game -- check your Full Count Details in the Ptcher Analysis Screen. 35-45% of all at-bats reach ful count. A human is forced to throw a Fatball right down the middle very often to avoid walking 6 batters each game.
Overall stats appear to be good and realistic. I use Classic pitch on AS level. Pitcher control/consistency both at 4. Cpu Solid hits at 2, Cpu Foul lFrequency 7. Those sliders will give you the proper ratio (2-1) of Fouls vs Mssed Swings.
I pray to God that SCEA patches Quick Counts. They need to have: 1-1, 1-2, and 2-1 counts be the generated counts.Comment

Re: Quick Count Pitch Counts
I appreciate your response, but if you're raising foul ball frequency, and dropping consistency, wouldn't you see MORE 3 ball counts than most?
And the numbers you mentioned. Are those total or generated? Because I'm specifically talking about generated 3 ball counts, not ones I get into from missing my spots.
I'm talking strictly about how the mode is coded.Comment

Re: Quick Count Pitch Counts
I checked A&S slider thread and he's got setting similar to those I proposed, which may explain his result, etc...
Make sense to me!

Re: Quick Count Pitch Counts
Yep thus far I am getting fantastic games with my sliders. This weekend is my last all nighter testing and then it is time to focus on playing and getting set for OSFM and some classic rosters.
Of course I will see if the next patch changes anything but I am very happy with the games balance right now.
Incredible game again this year!!Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Quick Count Pitch Counts
I'm wondering what impact (if any) the CPU's Strike Frequency slider has with QC enabled...
Since that slider affects the frequency that the CPU will throw a first pitch strike, is it's setting irrelevant in this mode, since the "first pitch" is now virtual OR will it still affect the first pitch that's PLAYED in a given at bat?
Anyone?Comment

Re: Quick Count Pitch Counts
I must say I have very much enjoyed the QC thus far. You really have to pay attention and focus when hitting and I find myself using contact swing more with 2 strikes, otherwise I can rack up too many K's. It does seem like the AI will throw a lot of fastballs down the middle, even though I don't always hit them. Not sure if that is a result of hitting at Veteran level or not. I wouldn't mind however a 0-0 count every now and then, as hitters do swing and hit the first pitch every now and then... I am not sure how that effects the whole scheme.David P
Thank you SCEA, for adopting my ideas for a Playoff feature and eventually an 'online franchise'. No credit needed to be given... I am just happy you are working towards it...Comment
