Its the right guy, I am hoping that he will go back up. I expected thing like D potential to C and so on... but A to D seems like overkill.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

I've got the Angels at .500 after the series against the Mets (this upcoming weekend in real life) using the Play One, Sim Five method that I first read about on here (with the exception of the Friday Night Mets game, because I wanted to be able to play them at least once this season).

I'll probably start playing more games once I get into August/September (especially if we are in the hunt for a playoff spot).

Jered Weaver was great in his start, CJ Wilson was so-so in his and Tyler Skaggs had brief glimpses of brilliance, but had a couple rough innings.

The offense has been OKAY, Josh Hamilton (like in real life) has been our best hitter, but still doesn't have any Home Runs. As a team, we have only hit five or six total (2 by Ibanez, 1 by Trout, Ianetta and Pujols).

Pujols went down in the Mets game I played with an ankle injury sustained sliding into third. He is out 2-3 months, but I signed Kendrys Morales out of Free Agency and his is hitting .500 after two games.

I have now won 3 in a row. My best hitter seems to be Edwin Jackson hitting .714 with 1 homerun and 4 RBI. he hit the eventual game winning home run in the 6th inning against Daniel Hudson of the D-backs. He's also 3-1 with a 2.02 ERA. I sit at 8-10 in the 3rd place in the central lets keep these wins coming!

Playing a little "test franchise" until the OS rosters drop...

3-5 with my Mets. A lot of extra innings/9th inning games/wins so far.

Granderson is tearing it up, but after him theres a bit of a drop off(sounds about right for the Mtes...ugh)

Just one injury thus far, EYJ is out for a couple weeks...which lead to Duda starting in left...3 errors first game..SMH
            Let's Go Mets!!!

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

I've been playing as the Houston Astros and I signed a bunch of free agents to avoid last place. I signed Stephen Drew so that I could send Jonathan Villar down to AAA for more seasoning. Unfortunately Drew completely wet the bed and was batting 161 with 2 homers midway through May. It was at this point that I noticed a fellow by the name of Lorne Asuncion in AAA batting 421. I called him up and made him my starting shortstop and at the all star break he is batting 365 with 6 homers. I rewarded Asuncion by upping his potential from a C to an A and I expect he'll be a mainstay of the Astros lineup for years to come. I also traded Chris Carter for Michael Choice to make way for Kendrys Morales at first base.

                Update: Year 2
My team is currently 36-31 with a 1 game lead in the division. As far as trades go, it doesnt seem as logical as last year. I am always looking for trades, although i feel my roster is where i want it to make a run at the title this year.

                Pitchers:
                Darvish (96)
                Sherzer (90)
                Miller (87)

                Wheeler (83)

                closer:
                Robertson (86)

                Line up:
                SS D. Gordon (80)
                LF A. Mccutchen (94)
                CF M. Trout (99)
                1B C. Davis (94)
                RF Y. Puig (94)
                2B prospect (74) and Drew (71)
                C Perzinski (71) and prospect (75)
                3B Mantle (71)
                DH Victorino (84)

i have a couple platoon guys, but for the most part this is it. It is defianately top heavy. I also have been taking advantage of teams trying to rebuild and teams trying to make a playoff push. I had Victoino traded, but he got injured that day....

I play with QC, and win about 45% of my games so far, but im still getting use to alot of my hitters. I only play about 4-5 games per month, until the playoffs or i am fighting for a playoff spot. As far as pitchers go, some of them just feel unplayable. I had traded for Harvey at one point, and immediatly worked on getting rid of him, his stats simulate great, but i got shelled the two times i pitched with him. I plan on playing a bunch of games in order to make sure i like everybody before the trade dealine. What do you think?

Hey guys, I just hand a question about overall progression. Do veterans deteriorate at the rate they did last year (i.e. signing Jim Thome who is a 42 year old and rated 82 but became a 60 by the All Star Break) or is it more balanced?

They do not deteriorate as quickly. the exception is that some of the players who are 38 and above are going to deteriorate quickly because they are so late into their 30's

players are supposed to begin seterioration after their primes (27-31) at a slow rate, ans speed up as time goes on. A good example is David Ortiz (38) begins the season as a 88 and endts the season as a 75 i think. not good, but he is also 38 and could hit a wall at any point. but i dont think players will begin excessize regression until about 34 or 35. hope this helps.

I have been debating on editing player potentials. has anybody else found a good moral system that makes you feel like its not cheating. I have a 22y/o RF and a 21 y/o 1B that are playing really well and are low 70's with B potential. But based on their numbers i would think they had the potential to hit 90. Would it be immoral to chagne their potential to A if they keep hitting this way through next season?

and the A's dominate in my franchise, i keep losing to them, and lost in 4 games to them in the playoffs.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Welp, after playing through the full Spring Training for the first time ever and having a blast as OAK, I'm now through 10 games and am sitting at 6-4.

Team BA is .255, and my favorite stat so far in terms of my team's hitting is my BB:K ratio. With 48 BB and 63 K, this is by far the best I've ever done in that regard.

The announcers are already raving about Moss's performance in terms of OPS, which is 1.195 so far. He's already ripped 4 HR and driven in 11 runs.

Team ERA is 3.46. Pitching-wise, Kazmir and Straily have lit it up so far. Kazmir's 1-1 with a 1.98 ERA and is flummoxing hitters with his circle change. Straily is 1-1 with a 1.88 ERA and just fanned a personal best 13 hitters in his last start, over 7 innings.

Definitely having lots of fun with this year's game!

Make that 5 in a row!! Cubs win 8-5 Ruggiano with a 2 run home run and 3 RBI have won 6 of last 7 and moved to second place and a game out of first, starting to get the hitting down now going for the 4 game sweep of the D-Backs!

I'm currently in the end of May in my first season of a Franchise with the Mets. Bartolo Colon is now 4-2 and leads the NL in ERA, but his overall has dropped from an 81 to 74 in the first 2 months of the season. I know he's old and should fall off, but there should be a way to stabilize his regression based on his solid performance so far in the season. I'm afraid at this rate he will unusable by the All-Star Break.

I had a pretty wild game last night. I've been playing with the Pirates but made a bunch of trades. I consider this my "scrappy" franchise but I do have some gems on my team... Ive been struggling to hit but made some adjustments recently and start the dynamic difficulty and like I said, this game was pretty wild and very fun...
                                Some highlights:
McCutchen got his first homer along with 5 hits after a very cold start to the season
Pinch-hit with Tony Cingrani, yes a pitcher, after using my entire bench (Ended up ground out to short but it was hit hard, the kid can hit a little)
Yan Gomes had a huge game including a 3-run HR to give me the lead at the time

                                Here are some screenshots...
