Re: Knights End of Season Set
Nate Mclouth is the Braves' best player? Jair from what I see after simming 10 seasons averages an ERA over 4, often worse. Matt Diaz left handed contact should be higher, he hit .412 this year against them and has proven it's not a fluke.
Some of the other rating discrepiences with the Braves I could just be doing some hometown wishing...
Also noticed John Smoltz being the Cardinals 2nd best starter... I didn't even look around too much really.
I'm not trying to be the ungreatful ***hole hereComment

Re: Knights End of Season Set
its "ungrateful" but again like i've said numerous times before, SCEA gets MOST right. there are always odd-balls - Smoltz could be considered one of them. he DID, however, get much better numbers w/ STL in the NL than the AL so i'll look at it...I do plan on releasing another version of this roster later on w/ some more attribute changes if I see enough. its very tough, however, to get things accurate....Knight has explained how tricky the system is in a couple posts (we do need things overhauled for next years game). I saw nothing wrong with Jair but I'll give him a look...if I get the xmas present from knight when i get back i'll do some quick changes and release it again for you fellas. I've simmed seasons and seen Arroyo have a 3.3 era and then a 4.3 era at times - there is a wide range of possibilities.Comment

Re: Knights End of Season Set
well, honestly position-wise....McClouth is up there...but I don't remember seeing him as the top player when going through the rostersComment

Re: Knights End of Season Set
Probably gonna upload the rosters tonite (gotta cook first LOL). If youd like I'll go thru each team and come up with a list of players to look at (MAJORS only, Knight's spot on minors). Maybe help narrow down some players for u. Let me knowOS Longtime Lurker - Extremely occasional OS Poster
Another year, and here we go again.Comment

Ja ty let me know if you find anybody you think that needs to be addressed...a $hit-ton have been done already, but i'm sure some were left out - those pitch/stamina edits freakin wore me out!!!Comment

Re: Knights End of Season Set
what i find frustrating is that scea seemed to switch a lot of ratings for players in their updates throughout the year when in fact the set that knight worked on for the opening day set w/ his line-up tweaks simmed out some of the best numbers and had better attributes for players (aka brandon phillips for example)Comment

Re: Knights End of Season Set
I know Smoltz can be good and was at times this year, but he shouldn't be the 2nd best starter on a team with Wainwright and Carpenter. I'm not gonna pretend I know the attributes system better than anyone, maybe the overall rating is misleading and other ratings not valued as highly attribute to better/lesser success in the game. I don't know.
I was thinking of using Bahnzo's RosterTools on the players in every team's 40 man roster, excluding rookies/prospects. I know there's been some talk about certain attributes being too high or low when using it though. If I were to do this, do y'all have any suggestions? I wouldn't change pitch types either, just attributes. Do you think I should use the weighted ratings?Last edited by yyhy; 11-25-2009, 06:22 PM.Comment

Before you go off tweaking ratings, Sim at least 10 initial seasons, check the stats & injuries. After this sim ten more seasons, but this time sim out 5 years. Once you've collected the info from this you will have a better picture of who may or may not need tweaking.
You have to remember that whatever the progression code is in the game it would allow for an abbreration here and there.
By simming mutiple seasons and times you can compare the results and ratings of the players, and determine the commonalities in their rarings that may be leading to the results you're getting . . .
Just my humble opinion here . . .Comment

Re: Knights End of Season Set
I simmed 10, only recorded the Braves though.
I'm not saying the attributes are flawed. I just right off the bat noticed the McLouth/Jair/Smoltz thing. Maybe they aren't problems, but Jair on those 10 sims averaged an ERA above 4.
I don't know how accurate Bahnzo's RosterTools are, but Knight told me it was pretty spot on.
What I'm suggesting is using the weighted option in his RosterTools to edit 40 man roster players minus rookies/prospects. Unless it's an inaccurate program, it's bound to be better than the stock ratings we're using now... or do y'all have differing opinions?
I'm just throwing around some ideas for discussion here and saying I wouldn't mind doing the work if anyone thinks this would be a worthy idea. Not trying to slight anyone :PComment

Re: Knights End of Season Set
I don't know much about the rostertools program, but that is a good thing...I'd be down for you doing this to the roster, since i have seen some flaws in simming...if you are willing to do the work i am willing to help man...let me know...i'd be willing to split things down the middle if this will help things be even more realistic than they are alreadyComment

Re: Knights End of Season Set
Bahnzo's roster tool works great.
I'm sorry, I didn't really get into changing some players. Given SCEA's formula and their 3 year weighted process....even Smoltz makes sense in regards to the fact that it's from the beginning of the year. Also....he didn't throw enough innings in 2008 to have that season used in the formula This year they might have made some minor changes(during the year) to some players, but not much. So you're really looking at 2005-06-07...where he had pretty decent seasons.
I think you'll see him drop pretty good for next year.
ThirdDegree;
I'd be happy to make changes for you. ....but you'll have to provide me with the player on the teams you want those guys changed to or the players elsewhere in the league I can use(with the proper potentials you have in mind)...and the player from the teams those guys are on that I can trade for and who I would make them into on the new team.

Re: Knights End of Season Set
I had planned on doing it for my personal set when these came out. That'd be awesome if you wanted to do half of them!
Knight,
Seeing as how you're the guru in all of this... any suggestions in us using RosterTools for attribute edits on these rosters?
I'll probably get started on this tonight. I'll take the NL if you wanna take the AL?Comment
