Re: O.S. Full Minors 2010
hey Knight, Ksig whoever is doing the rosters. The Padres have officially announced today that one of the organizations top prospects Logan Forsythe has been moved to 2B. He and Darnell will both start at San Antonio this season with Darnell at 3rd and Logan at 2nd.Comment

Re: O.S. Full Minors 2010
Knight, check your email tomorrow (3/4/10). I'm sending you the spreadsheet with the Padres projected rosters MLB, AAA, AA, A as of March 3, 2010, assuming that no non-Padre prospect NRI are cut from the roster. There are some things I wanted to put in but can't because of time constraints and since the game is out, I wanted to make sure that you had at least something from me for editing rosters.
For those that are curious, here's who I have:
MLB
C Nick Hundley
C Yorvit Torrealba
1B Adrian Gonzalez
1B Oscar Salazar
1B Matt Stairs
2B David Eckstein
2B Jerry Hairston Jr.

LF Kyle Blanks
CF Tony Gwynn
CF Scott Hairston
RF Will Venable
SP Chris Young
SP Kevin Correia

SS Sean Kazmar
3B Seth Johnston
LF Chad Huffman

SP Cory Luebke
SP Corey Kluber
SP Jeremy Hefner
SP Wynn Pelzer
CL Bryan Oland
SU Craig Italiano
SU Brandon Gomes
MR Eric Gonzalez
MR Colt Hynes
MR Nick Vincent
LR Aaron Breit
Class-A:
C Michael Collins
1B Allan Dykstra
3B Edinson Rincon
LF Jaff Decker
CF Donovan Tate
CF Everett Williams
RF Rymer Liriano
SP Simon Castro
SP Anthony Bass
SP Jeremy McBryde
SP Nick Schmidt
SP Jorge Reyes
SP Keyvius Sampson
SP James Needy
SP Adys Portillo
Left out:
LF Corey Adamson (17-year old, too many OF'ers)
1B Cody Decker (Already have Matt Clark and Allan Dykstra, old for his league as well)
SP Jerry Sullivan (Better high ceiling guys included aside from Nick Schmidt)
SP Dexter Carter (He's old for Single-A and will be in Advanced A-Ball, struggled with the Padres)
SS Jonathan Galvez (Plenty of young prospects already with Decker, Liriano, Tate and Williams)
LF Dan Robertson (See Adamson)
CF Blake Tekotte (See Adamson)
Michael Collins and Nick Schmidt are a necessity because of depth.Last edited by BatsareBugs; 03-04-2010, 02:39 AM.Comment

Re: O.S. Full Minors 2010
^^that looks good, what about Eric Munson though? I think he will be the back up to Ryan, Chris Stewart is also in the organization as Catcher. I think I read Canham will be getting time in the OF this spring, i know he played some games there toward the end of last season.Comment

Re: O.S. Full Minors 2010
I hope that Beemer Weems makes it in. He was one of the players who I requested for the '09 set, after he was initially excluded.
Man, Blake seems to get no respect from anyone. He has to be included. For already having an amazing set of skills/tools, he still has a huge amount of untapped potential. He has the potential to be a really good-great major league player.
Even just based on talent, Nick Schmidt definitely deserves to be included. This is his second season removed from Tommy John surgery. At one time (2007), he was deservedly one of the top pitching prospects in all of baseball. He used to throw 88-93 with a plus slider and an average change. I didn't see him throw in '09, but he put up great numbers in low A ball. He threw a decent amount of innings for a reliever coming back from an injury like that. So, it makes perfect sense that he tailed off in the second half of the season after he was promoted. It's possible that it had something to do with his promotion, but I would doubt it.Last edited by Jason_19; 03-05-2010, 04:22 AM.Comment

Re: O.S. Full Minors 2010
I'd really like someone go through in the end and tweak the fielding/defensive ratings based on the past few year's worth of Dewan's +/- or maybe based on UZR.
Some of the defensive ratings are absolutely horrendous!
Are there any plans of doing something like this?Comment

Re: O.S. Full Minors 2010
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned but the Dustin Ackley at 2B experiment is full steam ahead so far.
He has glowing reviews after working out at 2B all winter in Arizona with slew of Mariner coaches. All of them including minor league head, Pedro Grifol, say he definitely has the skill and natural ability to be a very good Major League 2B.
So far he has worked exclusively at 2B all spring and has appeared in both the first intersquad game and the first ST game at 2B.
Something to keep an eye on but I would say he should be listed as a two-bagger pretty assuredly for this roster set.Comment
