      Re: 1989 Complete Rosters

I am a die hard......I am determined to get my Yankees a title in the 80's.

Don Mattingly must get his ring. Somehow....some way....the Candy Man and this rag tag pitching staff will suffice. Some how...some way I will get this team into the post season. This team was close.....sooooo close. They just need a little luck to fall their way.

      I am on a mission.

      Here we go again!!!

      But man.....the A's and Mets.....my god!!!

Anyway I will play other games around the league (30 team control, no trades or injuries). I love this roster. I love this era.

      Thanks again PJ.

        Re: 1989 Complete Rosters

I've started getting the '89 rosters together. I've moved everyone from their '88 team to their '89 teams. About 80% of the players are already created. I'll post another spreadsheet to show progress sometime this weekend. 13-3 so far in my season play. I'm still tweaking my sliders a bit, they seem a bit off from last year.

Most of my players are either hitting over .300 or under .200 which is a bit weird.

        -Astros are surprisingly 13-3 also.

-Kirby Puckett already has 10 HR's and is also leading the league in RBI's

-Andre Dawson leads the NL with 8 HR's so far

Had another awesome game with these last night. I went NL this time and chose the mighty Mets against Maddux and the Cubs. Andre Dawson took Doc deep in the 4th to go up 1-0 on me. Maddux was dealing and I couldn't get to him through the first 8 innings. Bottom of the 9th and Strawberry leads off with a homerun to tie it at 1-1. 2 quick outs later and Mackey Sasser hits a gapper for a double. I PH Dykstra and he lines one over SS for the walkoff win. I got to get a season going with these!

I think I'm using Armor's slider's from last year. They were perfect for me last year, but my BA is a little high so far. Everyone's sliders should be a little different for each player though.

Here's a link to the new '89 Roster.

Green means they're rated, most are correct

                Yellow means they're complete

White means they need to be made

Any holdovers from '88 not on the list will go to their '89 team

Thanks a million for doing these, I grew up 30 mins from oakland so I love to use who I grew up cheering for. Beat seatle last night in the first game 3-2, down 2-1 in the 8th Dave "Hendu" Henderson hit one out to center off Mike Jackson with a runner on, Eckersely came in and sealed it.

BTW They totally need to add a tv filter like nba 2k had for the legends, like 80s style colors and if possible graphic overlays, it would be heaven.

Thanks again, I love using these each year.

Messin around on the ps3 today and found the rosters. Had to stop wht I was doing and thank you. I appreciate the in depth ratings. Not alot of 99s and the ones that are, are worthy. The top 50 tags next to Kevin brown , Ken Griffey , etc are a thing of beauty. Thanks to everyone who has time involved.
I play MLB exclusively with my cousin. Usually looking for info on Franchises. We played minor league baseball as 9-10 YOs on the Zephyrs.

                              Phase 1 complete:

I've got everyone from the '88 roster switched to their '89 team, and have '89 attributes. Now just need to create 141 new players. I've got everything on file except for new faces. These should be done in 2-3 weeks.

The faces look amazing, this should be a lot of fun.

One thing, I think the lineups need a lot of work. I started a game with Cleveland and Ron Kittle was in RF; he was exclusively a DH. For higher profile teams like Oakland, I don't think Carney Lansford should be platooning; I could swear McGwire batted 4th and not 5th. Steinbach should be the everyday catcher against anyone (I was surprised to see Hassey played nearly as many games as him - but apparently Steinbach's orbital fx was early that season, leading to his weird facemask he used thereafter.) The Mets are missing the old Dykstra/Mookie platoon, etc.

The lineup info could be obtained from baseball-reference pretty easily...but is there a good reference for batting orders out there?
