Hopefully Knight will chime in, especially if I provide incorrect information, but I would say that Yes, that would be the way to go.

I still need to get a Franchise going with this roster set. Would you guys recommend doing a Fantasy Draft or just using the rosters as they are currently set?

Thanks DJ. I'm still doing my RTTS, but when I'm done with that I'm going into franchise using these fictional rosters. Your question about using a fantasy draft or not is a good one, can't wait for the answer.

        I'm using 30 team control....
I put training on Manual and removed all the training(now I don't have to touch it....just make sure nothing is checked off) and I use BUDGETS ON.

This way eventually teams will get restricted.
The first few seasons are a good "free for all" because there are tons of low level contracts.

        I am absolutely LOVING these.
I have a 2-0 lead on the World Series vs. Cleveland after beating Atlanta and St. Louis to reach the Fall Classic.

just downloaded these. this is VERY cool! you'll have to pardon me for showing my age, but using these is going to remind me of playing "strat-o-matic" for the first time as a kid.... playing the game while learning who the heck all these players are LOL!!!! great job guys, looking forward to starting a franchise with this roster set!!!

              Re: Fictional Rosters

To answer the question about Fantasy Draft, I would recommend it, but it's definitely an individual preference.

Part of the reason I would recommend it is because some of the teams turned out worse than the others. It's a long story, but after the initial creation process was done, I went back and changed some ratings after we noticed some flaws. In order to speed up the process, I made changes on a spreadsheet first. Then I edited the roster. The AL and NL West teams (or some of them, at least) had players that weren't from the spreadsheet, so those players were never adjusted. As a result, the AL and NL West are a bit worse than the other divisions.

Personally, I turned the fantasy draft into a big project. I posted about it earlier in this thread if you want to read how I went about it. I created a spreadsheet with ratings for each of the teams. I set up a few preferences for each team and then manually drafted for each team for the first 30 rounds or so. This took an entire afternoon. On the plus side, I had the teams the way I wanted them. The Yankees had a lineup of powerhitting veterans. The Cubs had a terrific middle infield. The Giants have lights out rotation.

On the downside, once I began playing the first couple of seasons, the Yankees and Red Sox and a few other good teams collapsed and players moved around a ton during trades. So much of the initial work I did was just randomized during the course of several seasons.

So, it might be worth doing what some others did: do the fantasy draft but let the computer make all the decisions (I believe you hit "square" to get the computer's choice of player). Then you could go in afterwards and make a handful of trades to get teams roughly the way you want them. By the time a season's worth of trades occurs and some players regress/progress over the offseason, the teams will be mixed up pretty good.

I hope that answers it fairly well.

This sounds cool. As soon as my RTTS is done, I'm diving into franchise with these.

Knight how can I get a hold of the '60's version of these rosters? I would love to mess around with those.

                    I didn't do them as a roster....sorry.
I updated and changed them as I went through the season in my franchise.
I still have about 8 teams(all AL) to finish. I kind of got too much into playing and neglected the editing for quite some time!:o

I have to finish the W.S.(I've got a 2-0 lead....been really busy of late to play in a while)...
Do you guys want the franchise file when completed(before the off season)?
It's 30 team control, so you can choose any team you want to play as and set the rest to CPU control.

I would certainly be interested in that if you can post the file. Just let me know when and where I can get it. I would appreciate it.

are there alot of retirements due to player's age after the first season? i might be in trouble, i drafted alot of AARP members hahaha. i'm gonna try to win "now", but i'm gonna have to trade for some younger prospects

Just wanted to thank all involved with making this. It is much appreciated as these are a blast to play with. A nice change of pace and perfect for keeping me playing this already great game. The work involved must have been huge so thank you!

Knight or someone that knows the answer, can you tell me what the name of the roster is for your 60's version? I'd like to check it out as well.

Edit: Sorry just saw the posts explaining that it isn't uploaded as a roster file.
