          Awesome Mr. Random.

The pitcher's spreadsheet is 70% done. I went through the pitcher's in the game and put their pitch values into data tables to try and get an idea of MAX/MIN levels for their control and break for specific pitch types.

After that I'll start helping with the player editing as well.

            Re: Fictional Rosters

            Sounds good you guys.

I finished the White Sox position players. I don't know what you guys are doing, but I've settled on editing about 20 position players. I'll do fewer pitchers (maybe 16, 17, I'm not sure yet).

I'm not editing anyone that has a "D" potential on the spreadsheet. That's because when all of this is done, one thing I'll be doing is importing generic players from the newest SCEA roster update in order to import them over the original MLBPA players. When I do that, I can bring in any number of fictional SCEA players for the lower ranks. So, I would recommend skipping any "D" potential player from the spreadsheet, since I'll have plenty to bring over from SCEA's roster.

Something else I've been doing: after I've settled on the twenty or so guys from the spreadsheet to make, I collect all of the potential grades I need onto the roster. The first thing I edit is the name, position, and ratings for all twenty players (takes about an hour or so). That orders all of the edited players by talent and position. When I go back in to edit appearances, I focus my time and effort on the players that will most likely be starters, or those young "A" or "B" rated prospects that will be starters eventually. For the other guys that will only ever be back-ups or maybe triple A players, I make sure they have the right skin tone and I tweak some of the facial features in order to get some variety. But I don't spend anywhere near the time I'm spending on the other players' appearances.

One last thought: another possible workaround for the number of "A" rated players on these rosters is that the FA list will mostly be composed of lower rated "D" players. I had to do that because we don't want those ghost MLBPA career numbers floating into play. Anyways, if anyone wanted to ditch some of the older "A" guys, they can swap them out for "D" players on the FA list before starting a Franchise. Also, since the number of "A" players is most likely to be a problem after a couple of seasons, I might just try to "force" retirement on some of the older "A" players after a season or two by zeroing out their ratings, bumping their ages up to 45, and hoping they'll retire due to ability and/or age.

Anyways, those are just a couple of suggestions. Anyone else have any tips?

I'm happy to hear of the progress.

I'm gonna have to resign from this for now. I'm making progress, but with two kids and the Mrs., it's really slow-going. If anyone wants to take over, please feel free to jump in.

I will probably continue working on them anyway, at least in some capacity. Sorry I've been quiet on here. Just busy.

Thanks for the heads up, Bodizzy. I'll take your name down for now. Let me know if weekends magically open up for you this summer.

As an expecting father and grad student, I can sympathize with the time constraints.

We need some college kids or single guys to volunteer. I used to have all kinds of time for stuff like this!

im just creating a 40-man for each team (20 pitchers 20 hitters) for potentials i look at the team and positions and if i find 2 A's then i make one significantly older...ive also changed a few players names for the best creativity...i didnt change attributes though..so far through the two teams ive seen two high quality guys on each so its going well...i still thinks br agg is too highi made a guy with 59 speed or so who had br agg at 85

                      Cool.

As soon as the spreadsheets are all done, hopefully tonight, I'll start helping with the editing as well.

Busy job, 2 youth baseball teams, 3 kids, wife, etc ... you know the routine.

But when kiddos go to bed at 8, I have a couple of hours (sometimes more) each night before we go to bed.

Hey sorry I havent touched in lately, the life of a plumber in todays economy can go from super slow to super busy with just a few calls on the phone. I am making progress, just slower going then i originally thought. I will continue to work on these. I' about 85% thru Baltimore hitters, dabbled in Boston and got a handful done. I would like to continue to work on these as long as im slowing the whole project up. I will continue to touch base every few days.

                          TripleThreat,

Sounds good. Looking forward to seeing the pitching spreadsheets.

                          Turpentine,

I wouldn't worry about slowing this down at all. From the sound of it, none of us are twenty-somethings with lots of time. At first, I was a little surprised, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the guys interested in these kinds of projects are working guys (some with families) trying to fit this stuff in on the side. I guess that's why our thread has avoided some of the name calling and other crap that the other threads have to endure.

I guess we'll all just keep plugging away. I also wish some of this stuff wasn't so darn time consuming. If we could crank out a team in one session, we'd be well on our way.

If SCEA comes out with a random roster generator next year and we can make this project happen with a push of a button, we'll all just shake our heads...
