Re: Fictional Rosters 13
I have a couple of single created players that you guys could import into your rosters. One of them is of me and the other is of a very close friend of mine. I'm a catcher and my friend is a left-handed starting pitcher. If you want them just let me know and I'll upload them to the player vault.Atlanta Braves
Atlanta Falcons
Auburn Tigers
Detroit Red Wings

Re: Fictional Rosters 13
I had some time to get a few more teams done tonight and came across an idea to try and balance the rosters out.
First off, all I am doing is copying pre-created players with no service time over top players on teams with service time based on potential grade. What that means is some teams will have quite a bit more 'A' potential players than others. For example, the Yankees have 19 players with 'A' overall potential. While a handful of other teams might have 5 at best. Here's my proposal and we can discuss this more or if anyone else has ideas feel free to chime in.
Max amount of 'A' potential players per team. All players over the max amount will be moved down one grade to a 'B'.
Max amount of 'A' potential players with an overall rating above 90.
Therefore instead of having a handful of teams with a bunch of elite stars, each team can have a few stars and a few prospects. Player appearances can be randomized but must represent name/nationality. This way we won't have to sit and completely hand edit every single players appearance on each team.
Anything anyone else wants to add or question, feel free. This is just a suggestion to gauge overall opinion on roster balance.Comment

Re: Fictional Rosters 13
I always wondered that myself, but I think most people grab the roster and when they start a franchise, they do a fantasy draft. At least that's what I do every year. That way it doesn't matter if the Yankees have a stacked team of A's and B's and the Padres have maybe three A overall players and the rest B and C's.Comment

Re: Fictional Rosters 13
My suggestion is to leave the number of "A"potentials etc the way they are for each team. That was the way we did it in the past. After all those players are done we would do some "moving" around to balance things out. Some teams would end up with 3 "A" potential SS and some teams would end up with maybe only 1 SS on their entire team. There will be some trading to do once everybody is created.
Is everybody on board with using DM's Roster Generator?
If we use it there is a rating given for each player. The highest ratings run in the 70's. They translate to high 90's in game. Those would be the "A" potentials for the most part. Except in cases of advanced age. If the high rating player is 34 years old, there really isn't much reason to give him an "A" potential. He's passed his prime anyway. In that case we could just give him a "B" rating and bump one of the younger "B's" up to an "A".
The biggest potential problem with DM's generator is that it produces only major league players. It's not that big of a deal considering most players we will be creating are at the major league level. The ages tend to range between 24 and 34. I think that Sony did a better job with ratings of minor leaguers this year so it shouldn't be a huge problem. We have adjusted ages in the past to balance things out anyway.
Remember we will need roughly 40 players for each team so you will have to open up two versions of the generator at the same time. If you close the generator and reopen it you will get a complete new list of players. So be careful. Lol
Just my suggestion is that 70+ ratings be A's. 60+ ratings be B's etc. some of this can be adjusted for age issues if we need. A young player rated in the 60+ range could easily be an A if need be.
Just some thoughts to add to the discussion.Comment

Re: Fictional Rosters 13
That all sounds good to me. All I know is each team will have 40 players that need to be generate exactly. Some teams will have a few more because I have to swap out free agents as well. Finished the AL so far. I'll start the NL tonight.
I'd actually prefer that slugg comes down with the final decision on how we approach this as he's done this many times before. I'm just here to help and get things started. :PComment

Re: Fictional Rosters 13
Hi, I don't post often but I used this roster for '12. I loved them and the idea. I play OOTP and WIS and being able to actually "play" with fictional players is fun. If you guys need any help I'm up for it. Just tell me what to do and how to do it and I'll be glad to help.Comment

Re: Fictional Rosters 13
Amazing that these are being done for 13!!! I am going to buy the game just for the fictional rosters. I skipped 12 and am still playing 11 in 2016 season with fictional Padres. Thanks so much for creating these and can't wait for the new version!!!Comment

Re: Fictional Rosters 13
Since I'm a sucker for nostalgia, I'm going to be recreating a few of my favorite players from last year's edition, all aged 1 year from what they were in 2012, with some minor stat changes to reflect growth and player regression:
Basil Diggs,
Romeo Montano,
Jack Barden,
Monte Roberts,
Luke Cruz,
William Griffin,
Clayton Lambert,
Tomas Venable,
Matt Bryant,
Chris Padilla,
Nick Costello,
Manuel Jiminez.
I may not put them on the Fictional Roster when we start assigning teams unless everyone is interested in including them, but regardless of that, I'll upload the player files to the vault.Comment

Re: Fictional Rosters 13
Nice I remember them from 2011. Lambert was with Texas and I always liked him. Griffin played for the O's and was a beast.
I grew very attached to a lot of guys. William Hickman was one of my favorites. I traded for him and he put up two nice years at third for my Padres then at 33 left as a free agent to the Yankees!!!
I am sure I will get attached to a lot of the new guys.Comment
