That maks sese. I started a fantasy draft franchise with these using the Dodgers. Took Train 1st overall, hopefully I can win some World Series.

Thanks for you hard work on this roster! Just downloaded yesterday and started up a new chise with the Pirates. Did a fantasy draft and had a good time getting that done. I know I'll be playing with this roster for quite a while.

        Quick question on this roster....

Are the names broadcasted or are they announced by their numbers?

Most if not all are named. Fictionals are easier to do this way since you can pull the names off the data bank. Classics must be tough. Can't vouch for every player on every team but all the teams that I have used have been announced by the announcer and Matty V.

            King Riles, others,

Thanks for continuing the Fictional Rosters project. It was great to pick up a copy of this year's game and see that I could download a fictional roster set. It even has some of the guys from Triple Threat's original Excel spreadsheets, e.g. Lester King, Arturo Valentin, William Hickman, etc.

I'll be starting a franchise now!

            Joe

              Re: 2013 OS FICTIONAL rosters

I just started a season using the pirates (love that field). I made a few changes to the rosters such as adding myself to Pitt and my son to Boston, also tweaked a few pitches on Pitt so everyone didn't have 5 pitches to use but other than that I haven't changed a thing. I'm 2-0 so far on my season, both close games against DA Cubbies. I'm getting 4 ish runs a game with around 7 hits average, using my own slider set based off the tnk version (increased pitch speed, decreased fielder response time etc.) I have to say that this is more fun so far than my other 2 seasons. I love the added replay that these give the game so thank you for all the hard work that went into this set.

There are quite a few good fictional rosters in the vault this year. If you like this kind of thing and I love it go check 'em out.

Going to try these tonight, but could the makers or anyone else tell me, is this set best used as is, or will a fantasy draft work just the same? I ask because I wonder if teams were built in a particular way that I may be missing in a fantasy draft.

Still reading the thread but anyone interested?

These roster intrigue me, what's the "story" behind them?

I'm really thinking of embracing the fictional roster idea, just so I'm not concerned about the idiot roster moves & lineup management the CPU might make with real life players, plus missing prospects, players rated incorrectly etc.

It sounds like this fictional set has been around for awhile. Teams have players loosely based on real life players?

I did a full fantasy draft with these and it was a blast.

There are a handful of duplicate players though...usually at the same exact position (if not every single time).

I think I'm going to do this for myself, anyway but I just wanted to tell you guys that I'm going to edit this roster into a "classic" fictional roster. No long/baggy pants, no stupid flat-billed hats, no braces/guards, etc.

It'll take a while but I'll aim to have it done for Christmas. I like using this roster for franchise the best but hate today's "fashion". I hope no one involved in the creation of this roster will be offended and I certainly appreciate the work that went into this to begin with.

                              Re: 2013 OS FICTIONAL rosters

I never even considered this idea. I tried the regular Franchise mode, but got angry when Chipper didn't hit 20HR or Verlander didn't have 18+ wins. I tried All-Time Greats, which is a TON of fun, but it's like playing All-Star team v All-Star team, really big offensive #s. I fell in love with the O.S. single season replays (1988, 1989, etc.) Nothing better than being in control of the '89 Giants, but for as much fun as those modes and rosters are, there was always something there that nagged at me. Even though it's a video game and the only bearing it has in reality is that guys on the screen are named after the guys we watch for 162 games, you can't expect results similar to real life, but we all do. How can the Nationals trade Bryce Harper to Toronto for Jose Bautista? I have started and stopped countless franchises.

Until now - the answer is fictional rosters. There is no pretense about who is great and who isn't. Because these players are all made up and YOU can create their back-story. I love the Royals, but playing a full season with a team that at best wins 75-80 games and is lapped by Detroit sometime in mid-July isn't fun. Sure you can turn the budget off, but that's not realistic either. As with any game your roster decisions should be made based on ratings, not name. But if I have a John Smith (not the colonial dude) rated 93 and a Derek Jeter rated 88, both SS, I'm going to take Jeter 100 times out of 100 simply because of his name. With fictional rosters the name means nothing until your league gets a little history, it's awesome!

In real life I love the aura of the Red Sox, but strongly dislike the team. I love Fenway Park and the city of Boston and Ted Williams and Wade Boggs, but as a Yankees fan I simply cannot cheer for Pedroia. I've always wanted to play a dynasty where I use Fenway as my home field, now I can. That's right, I started my fictional franchise with Boston and now get 81 games in Fenway, plus 9 at Camden and 9 in the Bronx. I think the Red Sox uni is one of the best in all of sports, now I not only get their current one, I get the throwbacks ones as well.

Anchored by Train Tankersley (6'4" LHB RF - overall 94) batting 3rd and Fernando Martinez (LHP, overall 92) at the top of the rotation, Bean Town is looking for a title!
