Pared's Gameplay Sliders!

Ok, these are a work in progress... but I'm liking what I see so far. Unfortunately I'm still trying to solve the runners being a bit TOO fast... I may have to compensate with faster throws.

All sliders start in the middle... what we will call "0" for the sake of understanding. Clicks are either to the left (-) or to the right (+). Anything not listed does not get changed.

Here they are:

Throwing Accuracy: -2

Pitcher Aggressiveness: -8
Pickoff Attempt Frequency: -6
Contact: -5
Fielding Reaction Time: +2
Throwing Strength: +2
Throwing Accuracy: -2
Error Frequency: +1
Injury Frequency: +2

GLOBAL
Pitch Count: +2

The game plays great out of the box. These sliders should lessen the amount of hits you get per game, giving you a more realistic box score. It also helps alleviate some problems, like the CPU trying to pick you off constantly on a one step lead, too many user triples, and so forth. I will be updating these as I test more... but things are looking good so far.

I've already asked this question in another thread, but I just want your opinion. Do you believe pitch movement and fielding speeds work for the CPU as well as the HUM?

must be nice to win A game... ive played 15 or so games in and out of chise and havent won one using any slider comboo on any level... im now goign to try rookie wiht all my sliders maxed and the cpus all 0'd out... and if i cant win then... i give up

As always, your feedback is always welcome. Like I said, this is a work in progress, so I'll keep you all posted on slight changes I have made.

And yes, this set works EXTREMELY well for the PSP... more so than PS2. But I have tested both and they work very well, especially the pitch counts.

SCEA's game is REALLY great... you can def. play it without sliders but as always, I'm trying to get as much a simulation out of the game as possible with user influence.

One thing you'll notice is Pitchers don't just miss on the corners now... they'll actually miss with a bit more variety...

I'm at work, so I can't double check....but bro...isn't there a slider for the overall speed/aggressiveness of the baserunners? If so, that's the one that should be toned down....

That slider, from the little time I spent with it, mostly affects the whether the CPU runner will attempt to go for an extra base and "challenge" your fielders.

But I'll take a look at it again here on the PSP soon....

This won't stop my runners from getting up the line as fast though...

OK....but what is wrong with dropping the speed on the runners? I KNOW it's a royal pain in the *** to do all 30 teams, but when I did it for The Show 2006, there wasa VERY NOTICABLE difference on how runners would get thrown out by a step, how they could not go for three on a ball that should only be a double, etc.

In the few days I've had The Show 2007, just going through the various rosters, the speed ratings are totally about where they should be for some players, but wayyyyyyyy to fast for others....for example:

I was looking at the Royals and Red Sox last night. While Gathright was given 100 (I'll get back to that in a minute), if my memory is correct, Julio Lugo and Angel Berroa are almost at 100...which is not the deal.

In The Show 2006, acknowledging that Gathright and Logan are the fastest players in the game, I gave ONLY those two an 85 for speed-tops. The second tier was Jose Reyes, Carl Crawford & Willy Tavares...at 83

Ichiro and a few others were at 80

And everyone else falls in line under 80.

The slowest I gave to Bengie Molina, Jason Phillips and Mike Piazza....25. Those guys are brutal when it comes to running

LMAO! You're right...I saw a little of that last night...There are some slow guys in the game, but not that slow...lol

It's just frustrating that we have to keep making global edits as if this were 1994. An inclusion of a runner speed slider would have made this a non-issue.

Just played a game, Phils vs Braves, I lost 4-0. I suck at hitting, and swing at everything at this point. Smoltz only allowed 4 hits and struck out 10. Garcia (me) went 6, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits with 0 BB and 7 K's. Alfonseca did walk a man in a inning of relief.

I thought they played great, so I'll stick with them for now.

Have you tried adjusting the pitch speed Sully? I have had a hard time with SCEA's hitting in the past until I slowed the pitch speed to probably 25%, now I have that itsy bit more of time to be a little more selective. I still never walk because I swing at everything, but I can at least get more of an idea what part of the plate the ball is heading to.

Pared, you play on a lot harder level than I do, but I'm gonna see how these relate to my game. Thanks
