Re: Pared's Gameplay Sliders! Help Desperately Wanted/Needed

I'm beginning to wonder whether everyone's game disc plays the same or not....

I posted in the main MLB forum about my disappointment with this years version for the PSP versus '06 which I LOVED and played the heck out of.

I am desperate to find a good gameplay balance (as I described in the other thread) and since so many people like Pared's sliders I thought I'd give them a try. I've only played three games which I realize is not statistically significant. But, it's not off to a good start at all.

Check out these lines. I was the ChiSox in all three cases. Games played in exhibition with HOF diff and Pared's sliders.

    CHI 8 14 1
    MINN 7 12 0

    CHI 12 16 0
    CLE 14 18 0

    CHI 16 21 0
    KCR 13 15 1

This last one against the Royals was just unbelivable. 11 homers total between the two teams. 6 for my Sox and 5 for them.

I play without guess pitch and never use the power swing.

Also I averaged 1-2 walks/gm and stuck out about 10 times on average
The opposition averaged about 3-4 walks and usually struck out 6-7 times (I didn't record these stats but they were at least "reasonable" especially compared to BB and K in 06).

If ANYONE has had similar experiences as me and has found a way to balance the play to a reasonable level, PLEASE let me know. I have almost given up on the show for the PSP this year if I can't find something soon. I LIVED for this title last year and played it more than all the other PSP games I have combined.

All together I've played about 45-50 games so far on this year's version trying to find a balance. I'm at my wits end.

Maybe you and I should try playing at this level with API on. Since we are both having trouble with pitching on HOF, maybe that is a solution. To me, those boxscores both look realistic in scores and hits and extra basehits. I sympathize with the K's and BB's. You can also try Pitch Command at +6 and see what happens. And also, maybe Confidence Off. Also, don't forget to do mound visits if your pitcher starts to get rocked. His confidence will go up and he will gain a little more control. Still, I agree, I rather get 8 hits a game than continually getting 15 hits.

ya i dont know what to do. i dont like API at all, but i might have to try it. rememebr i am only on all star. i took the advice from phillyfan23 (on page 10 of this thread) and it helped a lot. i put command back to +2 and did what he said. I only walked 1 batter in the game and struck out 6. Thats a lot better than i was doing before and i had command at +4. i also put my plate awarness at +10 and my strike outs have gone down, while my hits have stayed the same. so thats good. i will keep trying these out. heres my last 2 box scores with the only change being plate awareness at +10.

      Min 2 5 0 youman pitched
      Pit 0 4 0 baker pitched

Min 1BB, 6K, no extra basehits
      Pit 3BB, 9K, 1 double, and 1HR

      SF 3 9 0 Zito pitched
      Pit 2 9 2 Duke pitched

      SF 3BB, 2K, 1 double
      Pit 0BB, 8K, 1 double, 1HR

OK, I made a few adjustments. I increased Plate Awareness to +2, Pitch Command to +6 and CPU Aggressiveness to -4. Rox vs. Phils, Cook vs. Moyer, two #1 ptichers.

        Phils 2 7 0
        Rox 1 7 0

        Phils 4 BB's, 7 K's, 1 HR
        Rox 0 BB's, 11 K's, 1 2B

I only walked 4 which is an improvement. Looking forward to another game to see what happens next.

          Re: Pared's Gameplay Sliders!

OK, just finished another game, Rox vs. Cubs, Francis vs. Zambrano. While playing, it seemed like the results would be worse but as I looked at the boxscore, it actually looks pretty good.

          Rox 1 6 0
          Cubs 6 11 0

          Rox 0 BB's, 8 K's, 0 extrabase hits
          Cubs 3 BB's, 2 K's, 2 HR's

I increased Pitch Command to +8 and it still seemed to make no difference. I try to place a fastball low and away and the pitch goes high and inside. After a while, I just gave up and wouldn't touch the ball curser, just pick a pitch and throw it. I never went down the middle and usually resulted in an out. This is still frustrating for me. I thought I walked a lot more, but it was only 3. This game I definitely did not concentrate as much as I should have.

Yeah, I read it and believe that is what I do. Even if the confidence meter is high for a particular pitch, it won't always hit its spot. Try a game on HOF and see how you do. I am curious if you see a difference.

ok, i didnt know thats how you already did it, my bad. i used to pretty much hold the button in the whole wind up no matter what pitch. i just threw a 2 hitter with snell, so i guess im getting better, but i will play a game on HOF and let you know. my stats seem to be pretty good now. In the pirates real spring training they average 10 hits, 2BB, 7 Ks, and 1 HR per game. my stats reflect that pretty well except for hits. i get about 6 hits a game. i have played a few games with plate awareness at +10. now instead of me swinging at bad pitches and missing(i cant help it, lol) now i foul them off or hit weak groundballs or pop out. So im not getting anymore hits, most of my outs are hit in play instaed of striking out. I still strike out a good bit against better pitchers. everything is going pretty good, i just cant win games, lol. but i hope to get better in clutch situations. heres a few box scores.

Looks good. Just got done with another game, Rox vs. Cubs again (I forgot to save it last time). I tied it up at 2-2 in the top of the 9th with back to back HR's by Helton and Holliday. I had 7 hits with 10 K's. However, I continued to walk 9 batters though, and one of those was with the bases loaded. The ball just does not go anywhere near where I want it too. I may have to move down to AllStar and see how my pitching is there. Pitching simply is not fun at this level. Give HOF a try and let me know what happens.

                    Re: Pared's Gameplay Sliders!

Played 2 more games on HOF with these sliders somewhat modified and try as I might, I just can't pitch consistantly at this level. I walked 9 in one game and 5 in the other. And this was with Pitch Confidence off. It made no difference. After a while, with the pitch curser right in the middle of the plate, balls are still going all over the place. I think I need to go down to Allstar or back to Veteran.

walked 9? im having trouble with stats by not giving up enough walks. Ive only gave up 20 in about 20 games. Do u use Meter pitching or the other thing(not sure what its called)? I also have pitch command at 0.

I use Classic. It works for me. I don't like having the meter on my screen and I get more realistic results.

So, is it fair to say you noticed a difference in pitching? You said about 30 pitches had a mind of their own. That is what I am finding. I know it is only one game, but how do you compare HOF to AllStar?
