Just mix, mash and suit to your tastes. I like looking at sliders just to compare and discuss issues that people may have that are similar to mine. You might want to increase cpu pitch speed to make it more difficult - I am a weak hitter.

Yeah I currently have pitch speed at 12 for the CPU

I've bumped my cpu pitch speed all the way up to 2.

In order to stay on veteran I will be turning off the strike zone. I know many do this already but its just too easy to pitch with it on, even with control at 0. This should help my staff get rocked once in awhile. I've tweaked a few other things as well to help them out.

            Re: Veteran Sliders

Well with the strike zone turned off and vibration off I actually walked three batters through 5 2/3 with Andrew Miller. I refused to give in to the better hitters and I think I got hosed on a couple of calls too.

My recent 9 game winning streak has raised my average 10 points but my runs and HR numbers have stayed about the same. The big difference is my pitching staff. The ERA dropped a lot in this time frame and so did the hits allowed. Hopefully the changes I made will improve this over the next 10 games. Walks and hits are likely to go up but how much is the answer. Anyways, you can check the stats through 30 games by clicking on my signature or this link: http://consolesports.net/forums2/ind...ype=post&id=74

              Re: Veteran Sliders

Just played a game in my 29 game season, Rox vs. Royals at Coors Field, Cook vs. Meche. I have been messing with sliders so much now that I kind of lost my bearings. I played this game with all sliders on DEFAULT except for pitch count which I had at +6 from default. Going into the 9th, the Royals were leading 1-0 with both teams only having 4 hits. I have 2 outs in the 9th and Holliday doubles and then Hawpe singles him home to tie the game off of Dotel. I go into extra innings. After 9, the box score looks like this:

              Royals 1 4 0
              Rox 1 7 0

              Royals 6 BB's, 4 K's
              Rox 3 BB's, 4 K's, 2 2B's

Cook went 6 innings, walking 6 and threw 100 pitches
Meche went 6 giving up 4 hits and no runs and threw around 75 pitches. I thought he was pulled too early.

All this on DEFAULT sliders. Maybe they make no difference at all? I don't know anymore. I am going to play 4 more games on these settings, going through my rotation and see what happens. I found this game quite enjoyable and thrilling to play and in the bottom of the 9th, I literally was on the edge of my seat, playing.

Anyway, I played 10 and unfortunately had to Fast Forward to the end of the game because I had to go out for the day. Royals won in 11 innings 4-3.

Just thought I would toss this out there as food for thought.

I'm on All-Star and not going back. I think the game is pretty close to how I like it. I just posted my 40 game stats (see my signature or click this: http://consolesports.net/forums2/ind...ype=post&id=75) and my pitcher stats are very low but I think they will get more realistic as I play on this level.

Just had a baby girl yesterday so the games will come a bit slower for the next while!

Congrats on the baby girl. I looked through this thread and you went from Vet, to AllStar, back to Vet and now back to AllStar. Just curious, what your AllStar sliders are? Are they the same as you posted earlier?

Thanks tfigs. I'm back on All-Star to stay but I use meter pitching. I have made some changes and am pretty happy. I may have to drop my contact slightly (its at 3) but I'm pretty happy with my offense. I may have to increase the cpu contact but I think these are pretty close. I really have to play more games to see if I will stay with this or tweak a little more.

                      Rudy,

Are you seeing less hits on AllStar? How many hits are you averaging a game? What about the CPU?

I have played 5 games with the last settings (without touching them) and I went 1-4 having lost three games in a row to the Sox.

I think I lost 8-7 in extra innings (I was up 7-2), 3-1, 7-6, won 3-1 and lost 7-5 or something like that. I see the CPU getting around 8 hits a game with about a HR per game. I still threw a 5 hitter the other day with Robertson mixed in with double digit hits and a couple HRs against Bonderman in my last game. I am averaging a little over 1 HR per game and I usually get more hits. I usually get 10 or 11 hits per game on average but barely walk (although I walked 3 times in a game recently!). With meter pitching, no strike zone and zero control (along with 20 for movement), it forces you to throw more fastballs, more of your better pitches and I will still walk at least one batter a game. The highest I've walked is 6 in a game but at least one was intentional. Unless you throw meatballs down the heart of the plate, I will walk guys on All-star but I've never played with classic.

The hit variety is a little better on veteran imo but I think I've still managed some good variety on All-Star. I saw a hit a few games ago where I chopped a ball in front of the plate that bounced over the pitcher and was an infield single. That was cool.

                          Re: Veteran Sliders

Well I have now played 50 games. I still hope to play every game over 162 games and the way my team is playing, there will be some October baseball in Detroit. I'm 34-16 although my 17 game win streak was a major reason for that. I'm on pace for 110 wins but Minny is only 2.5 games back and the new slider settings on All-Star are more challenging.

Had two great wins as Pudge hit a walk off 2 run homer a few games ago and Granderson hit a sac fly with the bases loaded to win my last game 5-4 against the Tribe. My fifth starter has not produced that well as Maroth and Miller have both struggled at times. Maroth is fun to pitch with since he has pretty good command of all five pitches (even though he can't come close to 90 mph) while Miller is strictly a power pitcher.

I'm 6-4 over the last 10 games (some slight tweaking in that period) and I've given up 3.5 runs per game and walked 25 batters over that span. I also gave up 12 home runs so these are very realistic numbers. My offense has sputtered a bit (I haven't really changed that) as I averaged just under 10 hits per game and hit only 9 HRs in the last ten games.

Magglio had some clutch hits and home runs but his average is simply too low. Sheffield is my home run and RBI leader and is on pace for 39 HRs and only 91 RBI. My lack of walks is hurting my run production but my offensive and pitching stats are pretty good right now except for my bad eye. Some guys like Casey are having a career year but most stats look pretty good. My pitching staff was simply too dominant and these changes will bring them back to reality. At least Mesa has pitched decently recently to lower his ERA. The sim stats appear very good in the Show except for strikeouts. The cpu sims strikeouts about 1.5 more per game than there should be so I'm the best team at avoiding strikeouts and the worst team at striking out the other team.

Anyways, the stats after 50 games and all previous stats that I have uploaded as well (see my signature). If the signature doesn't work, let me know or just use the zip file below.

Thanks! I've never actually played out a full season in its entirety. I hope I can do it this year and have 52 games completed in my season so far. It will be tough though since NCAA football will probably be released before I get finished.

Hey Rudy, let me ask you a question. I'm using your sliders and i wanted to know if you just hit the x button only for your batting or if you use the left analog stick and x button?
I use the left analog stick and use the power button for the first two strikes, then go with the contact button to try to put the ball in play.
I really like the flow of the game with your sliders, just wanted to know about your batting technique.
