I use the left analog stick and use the power button for the first two strikes, then go with the contact button to try to put the ball in play.
I really like the flow of the game with your sliders, just wanted to know about your batting technique.
I'm a lousy hitter. I just hit the X button and don't try to aim with the left analog stick.

Hey i hear ya, man. but do you get a realistic amount homers with that method ? i mean i use the yanks and they should be ripping them off, not an insane amount just what is expected from them.

I get very realistic numbers for the Tigers. I'm not sure how much the analog stick really helps. You may find different results but they are very good for me anyways. My walks are still really lousy but other than that, my stats are pretty good.

Okay, thanks man. I was used to a set of universal sliders last year where the pitch speed was at 0 ( all the way to the left ), and with yours at 8, i guess i'm getting too old for these games. Maybe i should go out gracefully and retire.
Anyway, i'm going to continue to use your set. They are very good.

The CPU is at 1, mine is at 8 but it doesn't make any difference really since I only play the cpu. You can set them all to 1 really. I'm soon to be 35 and I don't want to go out gracefully just yet.

              Re: Veteran Sliders

The only change I've made over the last 15 games is increase the CPU contact to 10 (from 9) on All-Star. I'm the best team in baseball at 43-22 (thanks in large part to a 17 game win streak as I started to get too good on veteran where my pitching totally dominated). I've updated my stats through 65 games in my signature.

                Re: Veteran Sliders

I'm halfway done my season (81 games) and I'm the best team in baseball at 54-27. My run production is low but so is my ERA. I just went through another dominant stretch of pitching where the CPU has a hard time scoring. I've tweaked their offense up a bit more. I'm also last in the league in getting doubles so I decreased the CPU fielding a bit to help open it up. Due to my high average (about 5th in the league) I'm still 13th in slugging percentage. I've got 19 walks in my last 31 games so my eye isn't getting a lot better. Sheffield was leading the league in HRs for a bit but now is Top 5 with 22. He leads my team in HRs, RBIs and SBs. Infante has been thrown out 3 times trying to steal. My team only has 12 errors with the slider maxed out but there are quite a few that they don't record as errors (bobbled balls and dropped flies - only a few, that pass right through them). They also don't record the fielder's choice all the time as well on bobbled plays where throws to second end up safe.

Overall the numbers are pretty good. Ledezma has been hammered lately. After going the first 13 innings without allowing a run, he has given up 18 in his last 25 innings. Zumaya blew a game recently as well. Maroth has only given up three runs in the last six games as has been on fire. Robertson had a bad game giving up 8 in a game to Texas (I shut them out in the other three games causing me to drop my fielder speed and increase CPU contact again).

I'm hoping Sheffield can keep up the HRs although he hadn't hit one in his last 5 or 6 games.

Here are the stats through 81 games (click on signature) and my current sliders on All-Star.

                  Re: Veteran Sliders

I haven't done much to my sliders although I have increased both my contact (3 to 4) and cpu contact (12 to 13).

Gone through 102 games now and Sheffield is leading the AL with 33 HRs! My pitching staff is doing as well now but I still lead the league in ERA and am among the worst scoring teams in baseball. Check my signature for the latest stats.

Good to see they haven't changed much, because they are a great set.

Just started playing again...and I'm ready to finally start my franchise.

Now that Mesa has been released, I'm wondering if I should do the same and pull Durbin or Miner back up. I'm thinking no. Some players on my team are hurt and not in real life or vice versa so I will just keep going.

Don't you like the guess pitch feature, or do you feel it's too cheap?

I love the guess pitch feature too much to give it up.

I've been guessing wrong too many years on MVP.

I've never used it. Just don't like the idea behind it I guess. I wouldn't mind a hitter's eye though like MVP.

These sliders are still working great for me rudyjuly.

The ONLY thing I changed is my contact at 7 and power at default... and their contact to 7.

That's good. I've tweaked a few things for the PS3 game and I'm playing NCAA pretty heavily right now. Its too bad I couldn't have transferred my Tiger season from the PS2 game to the PS3 game.

I does stink to start over, but this game is great.

I pretty much just started my Phillies franchise. Maybe when and if the Tigers are in the WS you can start a new one.
