I have always agreed with davewins when it comes to the hitting in the show. I really hope they tone it down in the next version but I really doubt that it will be. I am just done with sliders though. I am so burned out on them that it makes me want to just stop playing sports games altogether. When I look back on all the time I have spent messing with sliders in sports game's I notice that I rarely, if ever was able to truly solve a problem that I had by using sliders. I remember after spending so much time tweaking MVP 2005 to make pitching harder it was still way too easy after it was all said and done, and after spending so much time tweaking the show to try and make hitting harder its still way too easy to hit at the end of the day. I finally realize that most issues I have with games or programing problems that sliders may help but wont fix. Like I said, I have just spent too much time tweaking sliders in games and still not solving the problems that Im having with the game. I have probably spent more time tweaking games the last few years than I have playing them. So I'm just going to have to say no more to that.

Also you have to note that there were a few sliders that were "missing". When I say missing I am referring to sliders that would also contribute to making hitting more or less difficult. One that comes in mind is CPU pitching sliders. Control being the one that really comes to mind. It seems to me that the CPU pitching would be great if their confidence was up but if you got a couple hits together they would completley lose control and lose control out over the plate. What about losing control off the plate wild pitches etc. This would not only result in less hits but it would also result in more walks. I am drifting off topic a little bit. What I want to remain focused on is hits and being too easy to get basehits specifically singles. I find that most of my hits are on fastballs that are right down the middle. Well this isn't that off. Big league hitters are going to hit fastballs right down the middle. Problem is big league pitchers aren't going to throw that many down the middle. They are going to be more towards the corners and trying to "get the call". Meaning if they miss they will try to miss outside and not catch more of the plate. The pitcher/batter interface imo is the hardest to nail down in a sports video game. The Show does an excellent job but they need to improve this. With a few more sliders and more effective sliders this could be more possible.Comment

Re: I give up and I Win
I've been reading the back and forth discussion on the hitting situation in the game. I don't know whether it's because of my slider settings, my love of the game (it's the ONLY video sports game...or any game for that matter, that I play) or maybe I get into it in a real sense, but when it comes to hitting, MOST of my hits are NOT up the middle and/or to center.
That's part of the reason that when I'm doing my Nationals Franchise write-ups, I write WHERE my hits go...
When it comes to balls hit up the middle/center, most of us know that happens when your swing is literally 'right on' as the ball enters the strike zone. You're not swinging early (most times a pull hit), nor are you swinging late (most times, an opposite field hit).
Generally, I am one who WAITS that split/fraction of a second before swinging...thus resulting in many opposite field hits. And a lot of times, I do NOT need to point the right analog stick (R3) in or out to accomplish either type of hit.
There is a lot of issues on why hitting is too easy in the show but I think this is probably one of the bigger issues. The CPU does leave too many pitches over the heart of the plate. Plus there are way too many times where the CPU will have you down 0-2 and just come straight after you instead of trying to waste a few pitches. I also think the show is still far too much "hit it hard or dont hit it at all" type of hitting. Non-stikeout pitchers who depend on weakly hit balls still dont have much of a prayer in the show. They also have to put a stop to being able to be real late on inside fastballs and still being able to cream it back up the middle, where it probably should have been a broken bat. I plan on getting 08 and if they have some new sliders I'm not even going to lie and say that I wont fool around with them a little just to see what I can see.For 2017...

Especially the part about balls hit back up the middle. They should be broken bats at best. That is part of the bat to ball physics engine that is flawed and THIS is where SOOOOO many of my hits go. I would honestly say 85-90% of my hits are right back up the middle.
I remain hopeful because if they don't attack the hitting engine and bat to ball physics (which is a greater task that I find unlikely for them to hack at) then there I truly think this problem can at least be somewhat resolved. With the sliders in 07 the problem simply can not be solved so I understand your frusteration. If, however, they can make sliders simply more effective to the point we can tweak the game to a much greater range then we could be enjoying the game to our liking even greater. I mean they have My Sliders so we can all share online with so they mind as well make the sliders more effective and a great range so we can really tweak certain elements of the game that WE think needs tweaking.
The contact slider SHOULD help with all these hits back up the middle. The contact slider should essentially work in favor of foul balls. The timing window should be much more crucial. Instead of say a .5 second timing window to make solid contact there should be a .1 second timing window which if you are just off you will either foul it off or hit it weaker. This would result in a MUCH improved hit variety and not everything going back up the middle hard or all your hits being hard even outs. From what Kolbe stated about some sliders in another thread I am hopeful and pretty confident that The Show will continue to improve and hopefully with their sliders.
I truly have more confidence in The Show's dev team then any other game I have ever played. I hope the staff is the same as last year's and NO I am not kissing up.Comment

Re: I give up and I Win
I know this might be off the topic... But I am pitching the h@#l of the ball to the opposing batters. I forgot who sliders I am using, but this is a first for me 46-17 with the Braves on All-star. I played on HOF for about 4 games did not get blowed out. Matter of fact I think I lost 1 time.. Pitch well and hit the ball well: variety of hits, hrs etc.. Might go to HOF full -time..Comment
