Havent tried HOF level but, imo, most of it depends on the sliders, you can make All-Star just as hard if not harder then HOF with the right sliders. Its all personal preference.

How do you play the game though? Do you use the left stick when hitting or strictly just press power/contact and dont touch the left stick? If you only press power/contact and you are hitting too much then check out Jims suggestions on the front page, something like pulling the left stick to the right for left handed hitters and left for the right handed hitters as he has been having success doing this for himself. A lot of this is dependant on your sliders, the way you play in specific etc and its tough for someone else to give you advice but hopefully I helped.Comment

Re: Old Man Realism (4.0)
Loving these with a few tweaks that razr gave me , playing classic pitch.
I really like the slower pitch speed and my only minor problem is i play auto baserunning and i wish i saw more steal attemps.Comment

Re: Old Man Realism (4.0)
Im not sure I follow you here. Do you have your hit quality at 20 or 0? Obviously if you have hit quality at 20 for yourself then that needs to come way down. Raise pitch speed if you find it really easy to pull the fastball no matter what, in other words if you find yourself right on the changeup and still have enough time to adjust and pull the fastball then you should raise this so the pitches get on you quicker. Plate vision, imo, only effects your ability to check swing without getting either called for a strike or swinging when trying to check your swing so Im not sure how much that would help. Also check timing window, the higher this number the easier it will be for you to hit as you can let the pitch get deeper on you while still making contact, I have this at 0 which should help increase your strikeout totals and possibly cut down on your offense a little.

--I USE LEFT ANALOG STICK AND PUSH IT TOWARDS MY PITCHES.....
--I DO NOT USE POWER BUTTON ONLY CONTACT
--API AND ALL ZONES ARE OFF....
I have....
-10 hit quality
+1 power
-2 vision
+10 pitch speed
-2 timing window (maybe that will help)
BTW the other game garland let up 8 runs in 2.1 inn... then my RP camei n and shut the door.. i cam back from 8-0 and scored 8 runs to tie then won in the 10th.. both teams had 15+ hits....
(it seems my relief pitchers are insane!!!!!) (they barely let up runs ans are unstoppable)
cpu....
timing window 0
Hit Quality: +10
Power: +1
Batter Plate Discipline: -4/-5

Re: Old Man Realism (4.0)
Where do you have your power slider at? Im playing with the Dodgers and had similar results until I raised my power to 13 (+3) and since then I was hitting more then I should be hitting. I lowered hit quality to 2 from 5 just the other game and am testing that out to see if my batting averages will come down but leave my power alone for the most part. If you raise power to 13 and you still cant get any homeruns then start raising the hit quality slider one click at a time until you get to where you want it, just be forwarned, with the power at 13 and the hit quality at 5 you will probably hit far too many homeruns.
On a side note, not very many people tend to believe me, but Im a firm believer that the wind effects homeruns as well, when I had this at 15 (+5) it seemed like every game was a launching pad, Ive since lowered it back down to 13 (+3) and its looking better so far but that could also be partly due to lowering the hit quality as well.Last edited by Flightwhite24; 07-06-2008, 04:23 PM.The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Re: Old Man Realism (4.0)
After making these slight changes I have hit 4 hrs in 3 games after going 8 games with none. Game finally feels right. Still went on to lose the 1st 2 games with these changes before I got back into the win column. 9-10 is my record and 2 games out of 1st.The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Re: Old Man Realism (4.0)
Glad to hear they are working out for you. Im probably going to lower my wind down to 10 or default next. Im still hitting homeruns a little higher then I would like and the wind always seems to either be somewhere between 4-7mph in or out and when its blowing out its an automatic 1-3 homerun game. My batting average isnt getting any better, and in fact my team batting average has gone up from .299 previously to .302 currently, so Im not sure what to do here. I was playing the Reds and it was mainly their bullpen that was getting torched so hopefully it was just due to my competition so we will see what happens.Comment

Re: Old Man Realism (4.0)
Hi has anyone messed with the cpu slider manager hook as Ive noticed the cpu leaves spent relievers in much too long (I mean confidence wise) AArdamsa bost gave up a 2HR then a hit and a walk from what was a 4-4 game in the 8th . So I added 1 click but I dont think it will mess with the starters as I also had 7 runs in the 1st inning off a pitcher but no yank ? And I also had alot of games where the CPU lets the starter go 9 innings giving up 5 runs 10 hits ? So I hope this does the trick.
Still loving these sliders great stats !Last edited by SaintPatrick33; 07-14-2008, 07:48 AM.Comment
