    Re: Old Man Realism (4.0)

Is it critical to play with the pitch speed between 0-3? At 10, it feels right to me. Will it influence these sliders greatly if I play at 10? I've been using Nemesis sliders on HOF. Franchise with the Brewers and I'm hitting .320 through 20 games. Not very realistic. All hitting aids off using the left stick and the x button only. Should I expect different hitting results using these sliders? Something tells me these might be easier after using Nem’s on HOF. Very rarely do I get less than 10 hits per game.

I use meter pitching. Outfield view no strike zone or hot zones. I use the fade ball cursor. I can't stand not using a cursor not knowing where I'm throwing the ball. Using this method, I’ve devised a way to make pitching harder. I move the cursor so it begins to fade (just a quick flick of the left stick). The cursor returns to the center of the plate as it begins to fade. The cursor fades quickly which gives me limited time to “spot” the ball. It's a challenge to hit the corners because you only have so much time to visualize before the cursor fades completely away. Without the strike zone on it adds a challenge. I don’t really understand classic and have been hesitant to try it. Maybe I should.

      Settings I use:

      Difficulty: All-Star
Guess Pitch: Off (I have not tested these sliders with it on, so I'd advise you to do the same. The lower pitch speed should help those making the transition from GP On to GP off)
      Baserunning: Auto
      Fielding: Auto
      Throwing: Manual
Pitching & Batting View: Catcher (A switch to outfield view when pitching might help anyone who finds pitching too easy)
API: On (I find that most of my strikeouts come when I shake off the CPU's fastball and throw something offspeed on the corner at the knees)
Drawing walks: Take pitches until you are thrown a strike for atleast 90% of all at-bats. Take every 2-0 pitch unless there's a RISP. Alot of the time, in 2-1 counts, a pitch on the edge gets called for a ball. Be selective. The first inning of every game should be where you are examining the release point of the opposing pitcher. Watch where his hand ends up, and label that to a spot in the stands. That is where you should be looking before the ball is thrown. It will help you recognize pitches earlier.

*For franchises, make sure to max spending in ALL development areas.

Can you do these sliders on HOF level? It seems after awhile ALL STAT won't be a challenge. How long have you stuck with these
      and are you completely dominating?

They play real nice with classic no aides as pitching can be hard to pin point.

I believe I read pitch speed wont affect ex: how far the ball will go .
It only effects how fast the ball moves to the plate.

            Hi RAZRr ,
Your slider edits are pretty good but Hu arm strength maybe a bit to high , seeing Dye 20ft from warning track catch and gun and nobody avg speed will try for home tag up from 3b ,they stop and start.
Maybe because i am using older edits ?

Actually I think the stopping and starting isn't arm strength unless they already started and stop after the throw releases. If that's what's going on try dropping the arm strength to 12-13.

Its starting and stopping because it should be a easy tag up and score but then cpu reads cannon arm it kicks in .
So I will up it one or 2 to start as I had previously seen Thome tag up a few times 2b to 3b on mid depth flies.
                thanks

It depends on if you have auto load set to on, I have it off and therefor I have to load my profile and my user settings each time. Sliders are stuck to my franchise so they load within my franchise when I load that so I would imagine its the same for Season mode.

Be careful playing season mode as rosters get all jacked up thats why I had to move to Franchise .

Im not talking 2 or 3 players or just lineups each team rosters change 50% at least , all players froms minors go to FA and all FA go to active teams.
Stick with Franchise and turn off all bs.
