Hmm, well, as we both know the Yanks are a power lineup and one of the best offensive teams in Baseball when all fit and healthy. For you to be leading the league is fine, but if you feel it goes on for too long, knock one off power and see how you go.

For what it's worth to the guys still having problems with hitting...
I was one of those and dropped pitch speed to zero with this set, after getting dominated to the tune of approx .230 through 30+ games (and ranking last in HR's & Walks). Obviously, it wasn't working. So I readjusted to the exact sliders from this post for a another 30+ and have seen great improvements in both less K's and more walks/hits. I can't explain it, maybe you just don't think as much. Anyway, just thought I'd get that out there...I think it's worth a shot if you're still struggling.
Great sliders Psycho!!!Comment

JayD, yes, i am seeing the right amount of errors now on 5, the only change in 1.4
bird, nice to hear that, i try to keep telling people that certain "oddities" right themselves over time, and they do, 162 games is a long, long time, there will be times when all seems to be too easy or hard but over the long run they will even out.Comment

Psycho,
Do you use auto fielding? I was just curious because I have read that there are not as many errors for user controlled fielding. My fielding percentage is a dismal .950 right now so I am wondering if I should lower fielding errors to 5 since I am using auto fielding.Comment

Hey Bulk,
Just curious if you got to tinker around with Knights roster with the stamina edits. I know Razr put in his modifications to the sliders but I am seeing pitchers with an 80 pitch count nearly tapped out on the user side and on the CPU side being replaced at the same counts just for giving up a hit or a walk. Any recommendation he was recommending:
human starter 2 reliver 2
cpu starter 3 reliver 2
manager hook 8
Is bringing both up to 4 or 5 gonna make a diiference as far as say being able to extend someone like Sabathia to 125 pitches while someone like Dave Bush only goes a little over 100?OS Longtime Lurker - Extremely occasional OS Poster

Re: ***The 'Perfect' Slider Set*** MLB 09 - The Show
To be honest Ja i havent really seen that issue.
When the CPU is pitching well against me they often get left in well over 100 pitches, sometimes 120/130, moving the hook up from what i have it (6) to 8 will only make them yank pitchers even faster.
I use a version of Knights roster that was released before the "official" release, so it doesnt have any Razr tweaks etc, that maybe why its fine for me? I dont know.Comment

Re: ***The 'Perfect' Slider Set*** MLB 09 - The Show
Yeah Knights version 5(s). Razr really made some major differences to every individual pitchers stamina in order to help with the extended reliever issue (ie. someone like Feliciano or Jamie Walker going 2 innings or more instead of facing the one or two batters they normally would face in real life). He had posted his tweaks to the sliders but I had some real mixed results with starters stamina especially.OS Longtime Lurker - Extremely occasional OS Poster

Re: ***The 'Perfect' Slider Set*** MLB 09 - The Show
To the poster concerned about pitcher stamina, I simply added Razr's suggested edits to starter and reliever stamina, plus manager hook to Psycho's existing set, and the results have been wonderful.
Psycho's base set really is the best there is, imo, but if you want to use Razr's edited roster you have to adjust those three values. It won't skew anything else in Psycho's set from a gameplay perspective, and it's very rewarding to have the best of both worlds with Psycho's core gameplay edits and Razr's pitching ones.
To the larger topic of the thread, I've had an absolute blast with these sliders. I've had everything from 4 hit games to a 20 hit game, no runs to 10 runs.
I do use the L stick--I see some are curious about that--and find that it helps with variety of hit types but doesn't change the overall outcome in terms of hit totals.Comment

Re: ***The 'Perfect' Slider Set*** MLB 09 - The Show
It seems like the ONLY way to steal at a decent rate is to steal early RIGHT when the cpu pitcher starts his windup.. but it doesnt work. From my understanding, you either have to steal early (Pickoff EVERY time) or use L2 (HORRIBLE jump from first, thrown out almost every time even with Taveras, Ichiro, all the fastest guys.) Am I right?
what should I have my ''Base stealing success'' slider at?Comment

I'm over 70% (the league average) with the sliders at default, and here's what I do:
--look for a pattern and go when you're expecting the offspeed pitch. This will vary game to game and pitcher to pitcher, but generally, the CPU will not give in with 2 strikes, and when it sets you up on the edge with a FB, usually something offspeed is coming that will take you out of the zone. That's a good time to run.
--pay attention to the BRA rating, as this will affect the quality of your jump
--protect my runner with my hitter; if the pitch is a FB in a spot that will make for an easy throw, I'm gonna swing and foul it off to keep from getting nailed.
--take the secondary lead manually once the windup has begun; this increases the quality of the jump and decreases the likelihood of pickoffs, which is quite high if you take your secondary lead too early. This demands an ability to refocus quickly from the runner to the hitter, but if you're comfortable with that it will help.
--know your opponent's catcher. Some guys you just don't want to run onComment

Couldnt agree more with the advice above, im stealing at a .732 clip, you really have to take a lot more into consideration than just who the runner is.Comment
