        Game #51 of the Season

        Kansas City(CPU) 3 Boston(ME) 2

The Red Sox scored 2 runs in the top of the 1st inning off Zack Greinke and then Greinke was lights until he left the game in the 8th inning. Clay Buchholz labored through 4 2/3 innings and left after throwing 100+ pitches. The game was tied 2-2 in the 7th when Jose Guillen hit a solo HR to give KC the 3-2 lead. Joakim Soria got the save for KC but not without some close calls as Victor Martinez hit a 419 foot fly ball for an out to the triangle in CF and then David Ortiz unloaded on a ball that would have been a HR but was just foul.

The Red Sox are now 25-26 on the season

          Game #52 of the Season

          Kansas City(CPU) 1 Boston(ME) 3

The Red Sox pull their record back to .500 with the win. Jon Lester was outstanding and kevin Youkilis had a big 2-run single in the 5th to give Boston a lead they would not relinquish. The wind was blowing in straight from RF at 19mph and took away 3 would be HR's from David Ortiz as all 3 balls that were crushed off the bat died at the warning track. Jonathan Papelbon pitched a perfect 9th inning for his 17th save of the season.

The Red Sox are now 26-26 on the season and wil remain at home to face Oakland in a 3 game series.

            Game #53 of the Season

            Oakland(CPU) 4 Boston(ME) 1

The Red Sox lose to fall below .500 once again. The Red Sox can not hit with RISP. The umpiring was horrendous in this game as they squeezed Lackey and gave Anderson a strike zone the size of Montana. Andrew Bailey closed out the 9th for Oakland.

The Red Sox are now 26-27 on the season and wil remain at home to face Oakland in a 3 game series.

The Red Sox offense showed up tonight with Jeremy Hermida and Adrian Beltre each hitting HR's to lead the way. The Red Sox were able to take advantage of 2 critical errors by the A's that extending innings and resulted in runs. Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched a solid game to pick up the win.

                Game #55 of the Season

                Oakland(CPU) 2 Boston(ME) 5

The Red Sox move above .500 with the 5-2 win over Oakland. Josh Beckett gave the Red Sox 7 2/3 strong innings of work to pick up his 7th win of the season. Jason Vartiek and Kevin Youkilis each hit HR's to power the offense. Jonathan Papelbon pitched a perfect 9th inning to pick up his 18th save of the season.

The Red Sox are now 28 -27 on the season and won 5 out of 7 on the homestand. The Red Sox now start a 7 game road trip as they head to Baltimore for 3 games followed by a 4 game set in Cleveland.

The Sox and Orioles are both 3.5 games back of Tampa Bay in the AL East with the Yankees 4.5 back in the division.

TNKNGM, I wish that all of the forums posted their game to game stats. Keep up the good work man.

BTW, what exactly is your play style? Swing only or left stick. Guess pitch or power swing? Do you use any rules such as never swing at the first pitch, etc?

Other than your walk totals, your stats look good (since you made your last adjustments).

My play style = realistic.....I don't have any real "rules"

I do use the left stick when i need to go with a pitch, I do not use guess pitch - I go by the see bal-hit ball method.

I use mostly contact swings - only use power swing with a power hitter in a 3-0 or 3-1 count. I take maybe 5 power swings a game.

                      Game #56 of the Season

                      Boston(ME) 5 @ Baltimore(CPU) 2

The Red Sox got 3 HR's from the offense and a great pitching performance from Clay Buchholz to lead them to another victory. Jacoby Ellsbury led the game off with a HR and David Ortiz and Jeremy Hermida each homered in the game. The Orioles got back to back HR's from Adam Jones and Nick Markakis in the 6th inning but that was all Clay Buchholz would allow. Jonathan Papelbon pitched a clean 9th inning to pick up save #19 on the season

The Red Sox are now 29 -27 on the season and JD Drew has returned from the DL after the game. He will be in the lineup tomorrow.

Re: TNKNGM MLB10 All-Star Realism Sliders

                        Hey Tank,

It is funny how your season is mirroring my Red Sox season, as my crew is 4.5 back in the East behind the Yankees, and I am really having to grind out games to win them. I am a far ways behind your Season, as I am only at May 2nd in mine, but with three kids, and trying to play all the games with no simming, I have some catching up to do.

Have you decided you are pleased with your bumping up of the contact/power/solid hits sliders for squad? I am still at the set I have been at since opening day, but my guys are really struggling for offense, and it is just my solid pitching staff that keeps me in these games. And yet, just when I think that I ought to bump up the sliders, I have a 8-1 ballgame where I slap everything around the field, but now looking at a snapshot of the entire season so far, I guess it is time.

You haven't had 20 games under your belt since you adjusted the sliders, but can you see a difference already, and are you happy with the tweaks without feeling like you are giving yourself an unfair advantage against the cpu?

My slider set since the beginning of time seem to have me being handicapped and tilting the advantage towards the cpu to make up for the fact that I did not want to go 141-20 like some guys feel is a fun way to play.

I am hovering at .500 myself, and thank goodness the Yankees are 3-7 their last 10 games and not gaining more ground on me.

Just an update to the above post...

I kept everything the same as the original sliders, but upped the Solid Hits for both CPU and me to 1.

Last nights game was a 6-5 victory over the Angels as Mike Cameron hits a walkoff HR in the 11th

                            Boston 6 14 0
                            LA 5 10 1

Just that little extra bump on Solid Hits really made for a little more excitement, and I think it will really make a big difference with hard hit balls getting through, and keeping the flyballs from hanging up long enough to have them all caught.

Beckett goes 8 innings, strikes out 10, and Kazmir had 9 k's in his 7.2 innings.

Great game, and will report more on the Solid Hits adjustment.

BTW, Redsox are 15-10 and trail the Yankees by 4 games in the East.

                              Game #58 of the Season

                              Boston(ME)11 @ Baltimore(CPU) 3

The Red Sox complete the sweep of the Orioles behind 2 HR each from Victor Matinez and Jeremy Hermida. Martinez finished with a double, 2 HR and 6 RBI.John Lackey was the lucky recipient of the easy win as the offense cruised and made it easy on the pitching staff.

The Red Sox are now 31 -27 on the season after the 3 game sweep of the Orioles. The Red Sox have gone 8-2 in the last 10 games and now head to Cleveland for 4 games against the Indians.

Joe Nelson has been sent to AAA and Boof Bonser has been promoted to Boston to work out of the bullpen.

                                Boston 2 Angels 10

Lester pitches masterfully giving up just 3 runs through 7.2 innings, and with the Angels holding just a 3-2 lead as we entered the ninth, it looked as if the Sox might have a chance to get the rally caps on again after Mike Cameron had won it on a walk off the night before.

Ahh... not so much. The bullpen trio of Delcarmen, Oki, and Ramierez surrendered 7 runs between them in the top of the 9th, and that pretty much quelled any chance for a home-half comeback.

So far, LOVING the bump up in Solid Hits to 1 for both CPU and me. I am seeing a much better variety of hits and ground balls, and for that first time, I am seeing a lot more "near miss" sky high pop ups in the infield where the batter just misses good contact and it results in a towering high pop up. I can honestly say, now looking back at it, other than a few pop ups between the mound and homeplate, I cannot remember seeing this type of pop fly with the Solid Hits set at 0.

I am still in awe of the algorithm that decides contact/bat-ball proximity/etc... but I think that this small adjustment will make a huge difference without giving me a decided advantage over the AI.

I did see Mike Napoli go 469 feet off Lester in the 3rd, and so far, that is the longest, most majestic absolute bomb I have seen as of yet.

Loving the sliders Tank, and really feel I have them locked in for a great game of baseball.
